Gemile ve Katrancı Koyu

Gemile Adası, Muğla’nın Fethiye Körfezi’nin ucunda, Fethiye’ye 9 km mesafede bulunmaktadır. Muğla yöresinde Gemile adası olarak bilinse ve anılsa da, adanın asıl ismi Gemiler adasıdır. Bu hususta ada ile ilgili bazı rivayetlerde söz konusudur. Bu rivayetler içerisinde en popüleri, adanın Orta çağ dönemine ait bir denizcilik rehberinde yer aldığıdır, aynı şekilde adanın Aziz Nikolas’a ithaf edildiği de aynı rehberde geçmektedir. Söz konusu rivayetin doğruluğu tartışılıyor olsa da Adanın içerisinde ve çevresinde bulunan dini yapıların oldukça fazla olması, adanın geçmiş dönemlerde oldukça önemli bir yerinin olduğunu kanıtlar niteliktedir.
Gemile Island is located at the tip of Muğla's Fethiye Bay, 9 km away from Fethiye. Although it is known and referred to as Gemile Island in the Muğla region, the real name of the island is Gemiler Island. There are some rumors about the island in this regard. The most popular of these rumors is that the island was included in a medieval maritime guide, and it is also stated in the same guide that the island was dedicated to St. Nicholas. Katrancı Bay Nature Park, located 15 kilometers from the center of Fethiye, is the choice of both those who camp and those who come to swim in the sea.
