A great lady, lived round the corner from me, whose husband Jem was the night watchman in the factory when I was an apprentice with a Skem bloke called Ted. We were working one Sunday and our boss came in while we were having a drink. Boss was a Scouser and Jem and Ted were chatting away, both real Lancashire lads, when the boss turned to me and asked how I understood what they were saying. Well, I smiled, looked at the boss and said “I’m one of them”.
