Fun fact about Ryu: when he played in Europe in H2k, Jankos and Vander (Who were with him at H2k at that moment) used to troll him opening this 1v1 Zed video on his PC every time Ryu went to the bathroom
I still remember when I just started playing league and my friend shouted: "OMG I just did the InSec", I actually thought that was the name of Lee Sin ult 🤣🤣
Yeah after Insec it became mandatory for junglers to know how to do that. You're not a real pro if you can't Insec. He created a new standard that everyone else was judged by.
It solidified Lee sin's status as a god tier jungler. This is because at launch, Lee Sin was amazing at clearing camps and ganking, however, when the lanes opened up nobody really knew how to team fight with him. As such, he would fall of late game and be completely useless. But once people realised you could kick the enemy team's carry into your team within seconds, that really fixed his issues.
@16:37 that smile just shows the sheer passion this man has for the game and the people. Captain Flowers will always be one of my favorite casters of all times. What a wholesome video thank you
i love the story building with each pick. also, the call at the end of worlds 2022 "they have been doubted, they have been discounted, they have been dismissed" is still gonna live on as one of my favorite caster lines of all time.
Enjoyed the commentary by Captain Flowers, and overall really do enjoy this video series. Props to the creative team who organize, record and edit these videos. This is the kind of historic content which is great for an esport with over a decade of great plays and players.
Lee Sin became such a prominent pick after insec was popularized for both pro play and soloq, it was crazy to see the mechanics of Lee still elevated to this day (recent one being Canyon's animation cancel kick) excluding scripted TikTok Lee Sin combos with prowler/no cooldown/galeforce etc. Some people claimed that before insec, one jungler from TPA does it in soloQ as well but it's a shame that wasn't performed on a stage as big as All Stars
was this the canyon play last season that during the q2 (on enemy karma support) of lee sin, he smote (smited? to break spellshield) sivir and kicked her back to the team all in one animation. the kick animation didn't even register. one of the craziest lee sin plays ive seen, especially on a pro game.
Another thing to note about insec's play is not only did he change how Lee was played, he changed *when* Lee was played because throughout the years, Lee sin has been played in so many metas that even pros have admitted shouldn't be good metas for Lee, but it works regardless because no matter how weak he is, he'll always have that game-changing x factor of catching out the enemy carry
To be fair, Doublelift also has a famous international play, so he definitely belongs on Lol Esports Mt Rushmore. That int vs Viktor is as memorable as anything else.
Doublelift did have that very vintage one where he solo pushed the bot inhib and nexus turret on graves, and the team double tped in to back door against SK gaming. And we got the famous Yellowstar yelling at Ocelote.
Flowers I'll always appreciate your casting and commentary! You have a way of easily describing and creating narratives that are meaningful and exciting.
I think it’s fair as a quick summary of the most important players in LoL Esports history per region. Only one I feel you could argue is Perkz as the EU rep, but Caps is definitely iconic.
Perkz is better than Caps. Perkz alongside Carlos built G2 for what it is today and Perkz won on both MID and ADC roles. Also Perkz have more trophies than Caps in Europe. They both won MSI (well together), and Perkz also won trophy in NA. G2 also struggled when Perkz left. You can see that Perkz isn't just mechanically gifted player, smart player, but also a leader in game which is hard to be. Caps maybe is mechanically insane, but he can never be as good leader as Perkz is. When you look at Fnatic you have so many players you can say that they are Fnatic: Rekkles, xPeke, Huni, Reignover, Febiven, Soaz, Yellowstar, Caps... But when it comes to G2 first is always Perkz. Then it goes Jankos, Wunder, than Caps and Mikyx. No one in Europe didn't have such impact in a team and brought whole organisation on map as Perkz did. Whole team was built around him. So yeah, Caps is second in EU. And one more thing. I came to edit. When Perkz roles roleswap to ADC. DUDE LITERALLY REDEFIN ROLE. Even the Koreans were like "we can play syndra and yasuo as adc?" And started playing it. So yeah. Give the Western goat it title.
The Insec is so iconic, and has evolved so much. Watching the original first insec, and then watching something like Canyon's insec last summer. League is such a crazy game and the evolution over the years is just so insane to watch
That Zed 1v1 literally was unreal. Ryu legit just never was the same player after that. Faker permanently altered the man's mental. It's one of those things that when people are like "This mid can beat Faker, no problem" and I'm like "Oh no no no, not the Unkillable Demon King...". Hahaha.
I think the thing about the insect that is crazy is that was the first time people had seen it and then we thought that was it, and then Canyon shows you that actually you can take it one step further and if you q during your ward hop you can actually still use abilities and he kicks teddy into DK.
Finally got around watching this. CaptainFlowers is a gem, he's such entertaining and likeable, as an EU fan he's honestly one of the things I look forward to at international events :)
i just like Capitan to see that skt vs edg comeback play with the ibai cast just for fun the way he call them robots is one of the most visited video in the spanish league cast history and one of the most loved.
Also the crazy thing about the InSec thing is that people also shouting InSec on the game called Mobile Legends (LOL Copy) whenever they play the champion called Chou - the hybrid copy of Leesin and Riven.
"Xpeke" in league is like "Kobe" in pick up ball, there's something so satisfying about being in a game and someone just says "Xpeke?" and the team goes "do it do it gogogogogo they're not backing!" It's a core league experience
There's a lot of old mechanical plays that are just expected nowadays, that madlife hook is still amazing. Although kennen was probably dead anyways lol.
How sexPeke is not in S tier is beyond me... It was such a hype play at the time, and I mean, Cpt Flowers even said that even know people now what a 'xPeke' is... But also, mechanically it was such a pleasing play... Probably incredibly stressful, but it seems so effortless from the spectator's perspective.
Without Faker, Wolf might have just inted and Bang probably would have killed 2 and died himself. Maybe a near double ace afterward. Either way without out all 3 steps in the order, Wolf (Engage), Faker (Burst Lock), Bang (Clean Up) it would not have turned the game around like it did.
I agree that despite Faker keep getting ganked in the mid lane, he still manages to keep losing gold advantage to the bare minimum or atleast sufficient enough to 100 to 0 an enemy champion especially the most annoying one which is Janna.
Perkz and Caps are both goats and i cant believe ppl can put Caps first without mentioning Perkz who was in 2019 discusion for the best player in the world. Lol
I have 0 problems with how you rated plays. Such great storytelling behind each of the plays. For all those who never seen Madlife play, watch montage of him. He hit an invisible champion(twitch i think) over a wall with Blitz...maybe best support of all time. Caps...eeehhh idk. You got the many iterations of FNC(i mean the did win worlds from Phreak's basement lol). Everyone on M5...Diamondprox, Triple Doreans Genja...all of them. Maybe in the end Caps will be the best but not right now.
prediction: . the 4 horseman plays (smeb kennen, Bin gp, tian Lee, theshy aatrox) against g2, the 5 men lee kick, the OG insec, the xpeke backdoor. Its a shame that i dont remember more of the big plays. edit: ah the t1 vs edg comeback wombo combo i found in my brain... ..... Just one of my predicted plays on the list....... Uff. but ok the list was very short
Sneaky is the NA GOAT. Dude was unshakable his whole career. If it came down to just domestic success, Doublelift won more often, but Sneaky never missed worlds and always showed up on the biggest stage. 2018 C9 is the best NA has ever produced, and it was with actual NA players as well.
Then; the Insec changed how people play Lee Sin forever, casters say it's really hard. Now; I get hit with an Insec by a 500k mastery bronze II Lee Sin and I mostly just question why the Lee decided to kick the fed Illaoi into their own backline.
I think the Mount Rushmore is pretty obvious. EU is the only questionable one for me. My question is… Who is the runner up 4 using one player from each region
one important thing about the insec too... riot added in the ward buffer so people could do the insec easier. back in the day you had to place the ward and w whilst in range consecutively. now you can buffer the ward placement as you q in. so it actually used to be harder too.
Wow, there are people 1st degree saying Doublelift is the best ever in lcs. I would say Bjergsen is clearly ahead and even Jensen was way more steady. Doublelift is int material since the beginning. Even Hai or Meteos were better.

I love CaptainFlowers, your calls and reactions have kept my fandom for League alive
Completely agree on Mount Rushmore, that's who I thought of when you were first talking through it. Great video Thank you flowers

@@gabrielboman1340While Perkz and Bjergsen do have their qualities, peak Caps is unmatched. A literal 1v9 machine

xPeke's iconic backdoor is what attracts me to watch esports/competitive scene.

Alsomits crazy to see how the game has evolved. What was considered a sick play back then, I see everyday in my gold games
15:06 Wolf is still salty btw haha
oh man i remember staying up late and torching my sleep schedule staying up to watch the all stars event
I remember watching that live online and when Insec did that it took me a very long time to process what just happened.

xPeke A tier is ridiculous
I might just love captain flowers but this is such a lovely video.
The IG vs KT CaptainFlowers rap god moment is still my favorite caster calls of all time
Just gotta love how the lantern wasn’t clicked
how insane is to think in 2023 that huni was once one of the greatest top laners in the world... so crazy to me tbh
