Me too. McIan McDonald of Glencoe, Scotland, is my 9 greats grandfather. I'm very proud of my Scottish heritage. Good song, by the way -- heard it here for the first time.
I think this is definately the best song Moira Kerr sings - excellent. I first heard it when it was aired on BBC Scotland circa 1987 to accompany a documentary called 'Eagles Eyeview' or something similar. It showed scenes of Glencoe from the view of an eagle - this track was a perfect accompaniment to the programme. Best wishes.
I remember "Eagle's Eye View". It was first broadcast on 13 Feb 1989. Due to powercut in the Highlands caused by bad weather it was decided to repeat it 2 weeks later. It was also repeated in late December 1989.
@tarlander1 my blood is only partly scottish. but i have visited that magical land twice.i smile every time i see picturers of the city of Edinburgh, a place whos wonder i can only bigein to describe. i may have been born in america, but that place is my home. not one single day goes by where i dont yearn to return. and the next time i go. i will not leave.
It wasn’t carried out by a rival clan , it was carried out by Hannoverian soldiers under the command of Glen Lyon , yes a Campbell but I think if you done a little more research I think you’ll find very few of them were Campbells . Yes the Campbells were set up to take the blame under the pretence it was Clan rivalry
NOT A KING!! BILLY WAS MARY STUARTS CONSORT, WITH HIGH IDEAS AND NO RIGHTS IN SCOTLAND! WHAT HAPPENED AT GLEN COE! NEARLY BROKE THE CODE OF HIGHLAND HOSPITALITY, BED AND FOOD! BLAR NA CUIL LODAIR! RUINED HIGHLAND LIFE, A CULTURE LANGUAGE AND DRESS!! TO NONE DESCRIPT SASSAIN
People of Scotland should take heed of this song for you are not far away from History Repeating itself, Listen and Remember. Your Decision in the 2014 referendum will be on your head.
Fantastic song, but, surely we can expect photos of Glencoe!! Aren,t there many beautiful scenes of Glencoe available? Scotland is all beautiful, but I,m disappointed that no scenes of Glencoe were displayed in this video. Sorry, but it spoiled it for me.
There are photos of Glencoe in this video, 7 seconds in that's Buachaille Etive Mòr, at 1.30 that looks a lot like Glen Etiv, 1.35 is Loch Achtriochtan and those are just the ones I recognised.
He was the son of James the Second and was a Stuart not a steward. I suppose you meant Stewart. Problem he was Roman Catholic at the time of the Reformation and that caused a split to start with
Einfach nur wundervoll! Ein Land meiner Träume! War zweimal dort und es geht wieder in die Highlands...! 💪🏴🗽

A song about one of the most shocking atrocities, instigated by the king and carried out by a rival clan.

i'm 100% Scottish, and the Mcdonald clan did not deserve to die! No one has the right to take another life human or animal!
No, it was a terrible thing. How poisonous hatred is.

It was not our decision.

This is a true woman song.
This is Moira Kerr here and I want you to know that I am not making any money from this.
Any reason why her pronunciation of 'maclain' sounds like 'macleer'??
My ancestors were MacIains of Glencoe, John MacIain was his name.
No no species can consume another?....
bonnie prince charlie was a steward not campbell thay fought for the english a traiter every one

The Campbell fought for the Royalists in the ‘15 and the other side in the ‘45. A man of divided loyalties at best.
it6 the clan campbell that killed my clansmen
your clansmen would be bonnie prince Charlie, a pretender. No thanks.
