    It breaks my heart to know that a family seeking refuge in our country, a child seeking a fresh start in our society was subjected to such painful experiences. And her story is just one of the stories we know. I wish our society would have been better with her family and countless others who came and sought refuge here.

    I don't understand the Malala hate. She got shot in the face at 16, IN THE FACE. She is living a very middle class life in England. Yeah she gets recognized (BECAUSE SHE GOT SHOT IN THE FACE BECAUSE SHE SAID GIRLS SHOULD ALSO GO TO SCHOOL). Its always these conspiracy theories that make no sense at all. She is being "funded" ?? By who ?? and for what ?? I mean what do people expect. A person should put their life in danger (by coming to Pakistan) to do what exactly ? To make you feel better ? For your feelings ? Your feelings are that important ? You feel hurt that people actually felt bad for her and helped her live a normal life, like billions of other people on this planet.

    I think what we forget when we see internet personalities is that everyone has had their own struggle. If we cancel anyone who doesn't align with our moral compass, then we miss out on such conversations where we find out that the person we may have it out for is someone speaking from their life experiences. We can't always see eye to eye, but there is always a conversational curve. Good on Mathira, and so glad Shehzad had her on the podcast. I've had a soft spot for her ever since I spoke to her, and I think it's obvious that she's quite remarkable in her own right

    Shehzad, you did a great job on explaining her how patriarchal our society is. I felt she didn't understand it fully or wasn't ready to accept it. Maybe because she herself is a strong women and she dealt with patriarchy in her own way but most women are not like her and don't have enough opportunities. It was really sad that she kept on blaming moms on how they should raise kids, coming from a place where her own dad cheated on her mom and had affairs. I think most of her opinions are a perfect example of "abuse victims thinks its their fault"
    No hate or anything to her, she is a wonderful woman with a incredible journey.

    • @sickestsoup
      @sickestsoup Рік тому +3

      I think she’s just staying consistent. She believes a mother is closer to her kids than a father so logically she should be responsible more than father for a child’s psychological development. You can disagree and say that both parents should be equally responsible and then you can make a different argument.

    • @prowest6715
      @prowest6715 Рік тому

      One could argue that Ghais was equally committed his ideological stance against 'the patriarchy', and wasn't ready to accept her viewpoint, which in her case was more an expression of her lived experiences. The whole 'Smash the Patriarchy' argument is coming to a turning point in the west with data from studies and psychologists coming round to saying "Hang, but the data/studies suggest this ....". Obviously, the social sciences are in the grip of ideologues who threaten scientists who do not conform, but with the turning point due, we can rely on Pakistani liberals to catch up in about 5 years time.

    I'm not at all a misogynist but trust me i get the background of what Mathira was trying to say when she said Mothers have the power to bring the change. I totally agree. A man who hits his wife had a mother too. His mother had a mother too. So its a chain of women negligience on their selves as a society specially in Pakistan. In Pakistan as mostly men are the bread runners of the family, the fathers spend 60% of the day out of home earning but the mother has 90% of the time with them. Mother has a physical signalling with her kids the day the zygote formed in her womb. She know her kids more than a father, more than anyone else. She has to be alert and alarming of what her kids are and could be if not trained or tought well. Yes fathers do have a role in moral and mental upbringing but he looks more into practical world. He train kids about ho to be out of home and what is world like. A working/earning mother is an example for the son and a daughter that YES women can go out work and its normal and okay to do it and in that same house hold they also learn from the father that letting his wife work or study or anything is okay too. What (both) the kids learnt is how to make a progressive woman for the society. That damn first step Mathira took as a common woman was very hard on her. She is encauraging others my being an example herself Why stopping her to say what she experienced herself??
    And in this modern day where coming out and calling her abusive men (who ever) out on media or public is easy than what it used to be 10 or 20 years back.

    1:09:28 Shahzad, you are right in the sense that a woman can't just leave, there is societal constraints. But its not different from a kid being bullied, they know they should take a stand, fight back etc, they just don't have it in them. A few people from these victims are able to take a stand and leave, Mathira maybe one of them and it may have taken a lot for her to reach that stage.
    The state of mind is known as 'akrasia'. I am an intuitive therapist with a background in natural medicine. I get parents whose kid gets bullied in school. A week into treatment, they will calling to inform me the bully has been given a bloody nose. Someone stuck in an abusive relationship or a toxic job will walk out without overthinking of consequences and will make sure no one ever abuses them again or crosses their boundaries.
    This is a PRO BONO service and discreet, so if anyone you know is stuck in such a situation, at least they will be able to find that grit that would make them stop being passive and helpless.

    As an PhD engineer I feel The problem or a feature of tik tok is, it has a algorithm where every video has a huge chance to get viral without even having much relevance. It emphasizes young kid to just make videos without even having a good quality attractive content. Which leads to cheap and easy to make content. For example your walk video can’t be get viral easily on UA-cam but not the same case on TikTok. Therefore people make videos in front of trains, and jumping from heights etc.

    mere dost :) she said 100% right that aurat hi aurat ki dushman hai, shayad apne family system nae dekha, kese ek saas ek bahu ki position nae bardasht krti kese ek larki ko bully karne 10 hazaar larkia osko disown karti hai oske ek action se, or if you are muslim you have to understand this jese khuda ne bhi kaha hai k child ka first institution maa ki gaud hai or ye bth tb nazil hoi thi jab sirf mard hi hote thay aaj tu phir kuch awarness hai. tu aurat ki power ko ulta aap bohot halke mein lere ho yehi aurat hai jo laakho mardo ko dosri shaadi se roki wi hai yehi aurat hai jo ek mard ko pagal tk kardeti hai k oski shopping or oske desires nae hore hay, tu jab aurat apne par ati hai woh sub krsakti hai mard ko physically strong bohot banaya hai but aurat knows how to handle man. jese acha musalamaan banne k liye khud mein change krna hota hai. ya gurbat se nikalne k liye bhi har insaan ko apne andar change lana hota hai. khud hard work karna parhdta hai waha aap ye nae bologe, k fla fla akar nikalega wesi agar change aurto ko lana hau tu mard ka first institution jo hai woh onhi ko theek krna hoga.

    “Science is constantly proved all the time. If we take ... any fiction, ... and destroyed it, ... that wouldn't come back just as it was. Whereas if we took every science book and every fact and destroyed them all, ... they'd all be back because all the same tests would [produce] the same result.”

    @Shahzad:
    Yes, women should not be pointed at or held responsible for every mistake, but i think you are man-blaming everything on males a little too much. There are instances where a man is responsible and there are instances where a woman is responsible.
    She's right about sas-bahu banters ..never heard of a susar-bahu animosity as such.
    Also, to respond to your other opinion,
    HUM TV president is a female, look at the woman-beating content it shows, many female writers write such miserable female characters, dramas like kaisi teri khudgarzi & feroze khan type dramas, go see the comments there majority of women are commenting and drooling over the heroes' personalities, some even wishing a life partner like that..
    So, the bottom line is, both are responsible ..you cannot just blame one to save another in my opinion.
    And bro. in kids & family planning.. this is not always the case, in a lot of cases it is the females who want more children than the man does .. i know for a fact because i've been through that :) you'll understand when you'll get married how those circumstances work ;)

    She is so full of internailzed partiarchy which is so sad because she herself had to suffer so much through this patriarchal society.
    I wish you had confronted her about her views on Malala.

    1:40:22 don’t know which truma go through in your past but you have to admit that Pakistani society (men and women) both are polluted here why you assume woman’s are clean in her character and all men are beast in Pakistan Mathira is absolutely right in her opinion, what’s your agenda? Why you are pressurised her to accept your opinion? Don’t know what’s wrong with you?

    I had begun to like her a lot until she started with the victim blaming and the Malala jealousy. She, out of all people who’ve been through so much in her own life, is calling a victim a phony. 2 kaudi ke laundo ko “bhookhe sher” bolna is glorifying them and giving them exactly what they want. I think she has some narcissistic tendencies, that make her think that her battles are special, and hers alone are.
    Khair, I really appreciate the way the host remained calm and tried to put across his points and challenge her hypocrisy. Probably that’s the best way to change a rational person’s opinion and she does seem rational to me. If only she had met more people like that in life instead of the yes men, trying to impress her.

    Don't agree with her that whoever smiles and makes eye contact is the one. Ted Bundy used to smile a lot. Introverts don't like looking into the eyes too much especially at the start of courting sometimes. Shehzad misguide na hona.

    I respect for both of you but some concepts of Islam are discussed very casually, some people may be Muslim and not practicing properly it has nothing to do with Islam. How Islam is taught at home and school matters, which I think is a common thing in our society. Further social media is open so what ever is said over there has nothing to do with Islam.
