Max couldn't block Abzan Falconer with his Birds of Paradise because of Bright-Palms ability: "That creature can't be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less this turn" since Birds of Paradise has 0 power, he couldn't block. For anyone wondering:)
A note about sylvan library: I think you need to reveal all cards you draw with it if you have an effect like coursier of krufix/oracle of mul'daya on the field
I disagree with that. Yes it’s a flashy move but it would immediately make him the Archenemy so unless he was 100% confident he could back it up with extra pressure and plays, it’s most likely a game-losing decision.
@@garrettolson8584 I addressed that. I said it would be a flashy (aka cool) play that virtually guarantees a game loss. We know the outcome of the game but at the time of the decision, he didn’t, so he made the objectively correct play, it just didn’t work out. Those things happen, it’s generally not worth it to tank your game on turns 1 and 2 just to make a “cool” play for a video without having the proper plays to back it up.
Brightpalm gave her ability to the falconer that turn, so he couldn’t be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less. The BOP would only be a 1/2, and thus an illegal block. Backup! Its complicated.
Ok I've had it! Scrapping my mono G landfall and mono R exile for a Faldorn deck. It always seems to perform at 200% on your show 🐺🐺🐺 And mono R is a bit dull to me 🤷♂️
Sorry if this is to personal, but are you french canadien? I could swear I can hear a faint trace of an accent when you say the players' name. Great show as always!
Incorrect, actually! Brightpalm gave her ability to the falconer that turn, so he couldn’t be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less. The BOP would only be a 1/2, and thus an illegal block. Backup! Its complicated.
I think the optimal move T1 for Felix would have been to not land drop T1 to discard to handsize the Terrastodon, then T2 drop a swamp into reanimate and destroy 1 land for everyone, expecially that he was the starting player
It seemed like on Turn 8 of Andrew(Me)'s turn you swung with your commander, yet the damage wasn't counted as such against max. I don't know nor care if this made a difference, but did I miss something here?
Bright-Palm's ability made it so it can't be blocked by two power or less. "Whenever this creature attacks, double the number of +1/+1 counters on target creature. That creature can’t be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less this turn"
None of the commanders here are anywhere near the top 10 kill-on-sight, imho. I would say Tergrid, Korvold, Chulane, Darevi, mono-blue Urza, free-spell Narset, The First Sliver, Gishath and Uriel are all miles ahead of the ones played here. Note that I talked about the commanders themselves specifically, not entire decks (because any deck can be tuned higher or lower, to some extent).
Not even close. In addition to what @Nr4747 said I'd put Miirym, Marwyn, Lathril, Yuriko, Sythis, and Najeela all above Myrel. She is good but not even cracking the top 10 KOS.
That fog would have saved him had he used it on the other player it would have prevented the red gods damage as it did not specify combat damage he would have had the game had he killed the other player Ok it has come to my attention that im wrong the god would not have been a creature do to the lack of devotion the haze would not have worked as it only blocks damage from creatures
I don't think so. Obscuring Haze prevents all damage from creatures. Looking at the board, I don't think Maxime's devotion was 5 or more so Purphoros technically is not a creature. Getting five creatures into play would have killed Andrew still as it would have been considered an enchantment doing the damage.
Bright-Palm joins the short list of Commanders I would be interested in building around if it wasn't for their (imho) atrocious artwork. Urza, Chief Artificer is another major offender.

That Faldorn deck is really coming into its own
10:27 Myrel, Shield of Argive creates X 1/1 colorless Soldier ARTIFACT creature tokens.
Your last turn is a painful reminder of the one time I saw a Questing Beast in EDH, right down to me trying to use Obscuring haze 😅
When i saw the commander lineup my first though was " I wonder if someone will get got by Myrel's grand abolisher ability. Didnt disappoint.
Interesting Faldorn build, it's really making me want to include more cards that let me play additional lands.
Myrel is definitely a favorite. Love watching her in action.
A note about sylvan library: I think you need to reveal all cards you draw with it if you have an effect like coursier of krufix/oracle of mul'daya on the field
I recommend Agrus Kos, Eternal Soldier for the Bright-Palms deck, easily the best card for the deck.
Felix should have skipped his land drop turn 1 to discard his terastadon and reanimated it turn 2.

@@jolteon345 counter point: it would have been really cool

You are right, definitely should have been the play, expecially that he was the starting player
did max not have a bop at the end to block with? im only partial because im also a faldorn player and i love playing faldorn!

Faldorn is amazing as always
Feel bad for Maxime! Curious to see this Faldorn style secure a victory!
Shouldn't faldorn had been gaining life the whole time they had druid class in play. Even leveled up it should retain it's level 1 ability
He was for the most part. I just didn't want to narrate it each time.
An awesome Faldorn over there

You should've taken Marie out for the blasphemy of playing that off art Plains. 🤪
Really enjoyed this game :)
Great game!

Great show as always!
I was born in Quebec and lived there until my late 20's!
Missed a Purphoros trigger with Champion of Lambholdt.
Am I wrong thinking Max could have blocked the Abzan Falconer with his Birds of Paradise, thus surviving ?
That's what I was thinking

@@MM-lv7iy Magic is hard 😅 Thank you for this explanation
without fail, the player with the commander i'm looking most forward to seeing, dies first every time.
Muddstah! Any chance we could get more Kyler gameplay on camera? Awesome game nonetheless!

He swung with Lae'zel, but not with Bright-Palm
Let's go faldorn, I'm waiting for the day it wins
We'll get there one day Max
Couldn't Max have blocked with birds of Paradise? 12:42
Abzan Falconer was unblockable due to his commander

I'm actually 0-3 vs brightpalm that precon is gross killed me turn 6 the other day lol

Myrel for the win!!! But maxine could have blocks with the birds of paradise. I think that mistake would have chamged who one the game however

How many games till you guys learn not to leave Myrel alone? 😂
Gasp! An off art lands in a monocolor deck, disgusting! Abhorrent! For shame.
