You brought a piece of my childhood back to life. Wanted an Atari sooooo bad but my parents couldn’t afford it. My cousin had one and I would spend all the time I could playing Pac-Man. Great job!🥰👏
@@alittlebitgone I’d actually hazard a guess that this is probably what the console was like when the UA-camr got it! I’ve seen them in the wild that are worse! The ones that are definitely fake are the ones that are “found in the wild” those are junk.
I got an unrestored, pristine condition Darth Vader Atari 2600 from a pawn shop. Its really cool how my Atari 2600 has the stickers and cords still intact after 42 years!
@@mahjonglover3614 how so? Also ive cleaned plenty of consoles and it can actually be clean under rust. Same with game cartridges. If had rusted n64 cartridges but the motherboard was still perfect.
Uuhhh, Resoration EG, are you making similar videos to what Odd Tinkering has made with his version of video game console restorations??? It seems both of you have made the exact same video, just 2 months apart.
Wait until the late 1970s roll around and then it turns 50 years old, followed by the NES and Sega Master System, those are going to be 50 at some point...Gees.
This is the "Vader edition" too so it tends to go for a bit more in value than the 4 switch model with wood grain paneling. Shame to see it all beaten up like that. The Atari 2600 Darth Vader Model, released in 1982, is a four-switch model of the Atari 2600 with the woodgrain finish on the front of the unit replaced with an all-black front bar, which gives it the name "Darth Vader". It is also the first model of the system that bears the name "Atari 2600", whereas previous models were called the "Atari Video Computer System".
I would have at least done some more diagnosis before firing the parts cannon and definitely before other restore steps. Once I was at the point of replacing the switch I would have also reflowed the solder on all the other switches as it looks like the solder joints are the only mechanical connection and they'd be subject to cracking.
I have always wondered watching these restoration videos why so much dirt and "rust" and then absolutely clean resisters and other parts inside. How the heck could a console ever be this caked with dirt? Then comes so pristine with little effort in cleaning? Where do you find such a dirty console? Sellers aren't advertising items that aren't at least wiped down. I have doubts!!
There are not many things to go wrong with one of them. The 5 volt regulator and of course the capacitors are the usual. They are basically clean up and replace the aged caps about does it. Thumbs Up!
to be fair: in my own eyes, this video ist totally fake. Where did you know that the Cap is broken? Why didnt you show us if the console works or not? And why are you painting over the shielding? You should know you solder first and then cut the rest of and not vice versa
Zeig doxh mal was exhtea
First time looking at these videos and looking at his other videos, I noticed that they all look the same. The same filthy outer shell, to the point that's it too dirty. Something does not smell right.
well if i got a 30 year old device from a dumpster or an actual dump I would expect it to look like this. Also who would wait for something to rust. Edit. Also Most objects in restoration videos are much older then 30 years. usually being closer to 100 years old but don't have that much dirt and my guess is that they're too rusty to have dirt because every thing was made out of metal back then
I hope 2023 brings more health, more happiness and more love to all good people. Happy New Year.
🎉 Happy new year!!
Happy New year 🥳🎊🎉
Wow. I’m floored that you saved it. And to see such primitive technology work again, almost made me cry. Great job as always!

I so So SO wanted an Atari when i was younger. Had to make do playing my cousin's.
It’s great to see systems get restored and not go to waste!
You get that it's fake, right?

That red mud that dirty this atari, I have seen it in many videos here on youtube, suspicious 🤔🤔🤔
These are not the Chinese and not other dregs from Asia, filming for the sake of PR and hype. Channel created from USA
I remember my early age, congrats.
Pitfall, Combat, Tennis, River Raid, Asteroids, Berzerk, Star Wars
The good old Darth Vader model.. glad you saved it
beauty piece of vintage tech :'3
I was surprised how clean it was under those rusted shields
Because it's a fake restoration

Wow that's so cool
Can you test this before you restore
Great work, reminds me of my childhood days, but now I feel I am old
🎉 Happy new year!!
Another new year & the atari gets even older,I still remember the first time I played it,it’s so primitive 😅

You can find bad condition consoles at thrift shops and garage sales
Good as new
How much time does it normally take to do this level of restoration? That was insane. I had no idea you needed to clean it like a baby!
