You could also say it's weird that Americans have to be so loud everywhere. But you can say of us Germans that once you've found a friend here, you can rely on him 100% Right, when we talk, we look the other person in the eye, that's respect for the other person.
Always taking of your shoes is wrong. It strongly depends on the occasion why and how long you're visitng. addition: Not every german househoild has spare houseshoes. When they insist that you take them off, most of the time it's totally fine to walk on your socks
Never ever would I wear spare houseshoes. My guests can decide what they prefer, their own shoes or socks, but houseshoes are a complete and utter no-go to me.

I don't know where the Americans who live in Germany are. This video is full of stereotypes. I also feel a bit sorry for the man because he has never experienced the diversity of German culture. I find it very strange how Americans imagine Germans and project their experiences onto the entire German people. I'll summarize what is said about us Germans in the various videos. We never cross the red light, we are unfriendly, we stare at everyone, we constantly shout in an ugly language, we drink beer and eat sausage and woe betide anyone who puts on slippers when they visit us despite the many bad qualities we have. Then we open the window so that the visitor gets some fresh air. Then we look out the window and make sure that the neighbor separates the garbage. We clap when someone does something right. That is of course a scandal. And of course we are robots, always on time and always follow the rules etc. I am German but if everyone in Germany were like that, I think I would emigrate. But I'm telling you, Germany is not as it is always portrayed. Why does this man live in Germany? There must be reasons why so many Americans live in Germany. I don't understand it.
They also look at you on the street because you are pretty, wear nice clothes, are in a good mood, smile, speak another language or just have fun. They are happy for you and it is not embarrassing at all. Nobody wants to harm you and they don't want to have to look away because Americans are so strange.

As a genuine German, I am very surprised by the statement that Germans stare at other people. That is complete nonsense. Brief eye contact is okay, but that's about it. They perhaps prefer eye contact in conversations more than other peoples. But apart from that, they don't usually stare at anyone. At least that's the case here in Bremen and northern Germany as a whole, and I haven't seen any Germans staring on trips to other German cities either.

Germans, but also other Europeans, get an average closer to others than Americans. It’s the same with “starring”, how often and for how many seconds do you look directly at people while, eg, in a supermarket? Maybe the average is one person and half a second in America and two persons and one second in Germany. I’ve spend some time in the U.S., and several people there remarked that I “stare” at others more. Nobody ever said that to me in Germany. You can hear the same story from many people who have spend time in both countries.

The problem with recycling is not that it would be so difficult to understand. Everybody can learn that. The real problem is that the rules are different in each and every town or even village and that is a really a German issue.
Calling people out if they do something wrong (like putting waste in the wrong bin) is a thing in Germany, but I feel it's not that extreme everywhere.

Youre not that important that everyone just stares at you like youre not from this world. If youre an obnoxious loud american tourist and draw attention to you..well then expect to get looks. Yes, eye contact is a thing..tells if you want to hide something when you avoid eye contact. But thats not stareing, that is simple awareness. Nobody knows youre not from here and we dont have a 6th sense "oh..look at them tourists". The only people that do stare are old people..and they stare at everyone and everything. Dont know if americans are so closed up or how that stereotype came to be..dont you look at people that pass by? "Everybody stares at me"..yeh..only you..just you..the whole city at once. Take everything the guy said with a big pinch of salt.

I have no idea why “White People” are called Caucasians in the USA. My race is also not white, but my race called "Homo Sapiens Sapiens", if you take it exactly.
