lool what wonderful memories this game brings! On my Amiga 600 :) Those were the days! Well done mate, you must have slaved at this game!! More than Brilliant!
I used to play the heck out of this game. And I still play it from time to time. I love it. No life bar- one ATTACK from an enemy can kill. (you can however bump or hit some enemies and still survive I guess because its not considered to be an attack.) Still I must say, whoever's playing this is a master at this game. Great job.
I remember... I lost my last life of my last continue when the last boss had one life point. After this, I was unable to play it againg with the same effort. Along years I was think "What would goind after the last Boss's death". Now I know and the felling of accomplishment didn't come. WHAT TERRIBLE END!
Wowm you are an excellent player of this game!! When it comes to speedrunning strategies, I think you can exploit a couple tricks more. - The first ninja in the final boss room can be "pushed offscreen" on the far right. Thus, it can be dispatched with two slashes instead of three - The second "rolling" ninja in the boss room can be eliminating by simply jumping, and let him roll himself out. He'll not roll back. (it does not really matter, if you still hit the boss on time when he thows fire, but it makes your life easier) - On the 4th boss, the wheel, if you cast magic right at the beginning, the wheel will not do the initial loop around, but immediately stop to throw fire. It means that you can hit it sooner. - There is a trick on the second boss, to time magic right after the hit, that will on-shot the boss. I am not entirely sure how this one is made.
still holds up so well today, great graphics, action, sound track, originality..when I was a kid, I wanted the true arcade game, but arcade emulators were pure fantasy back then. The only thing that is still a bit disappointing is why you had to fight in a cave, and not see more of NYC and the last boss just dissappears after a few flames. The final bad guy should explode in chunks of metal or flesh (what is he a robot?).
I guess that's the fastest end to this game I have ever seen! Sheer brilliance! I myself have ended this game, but on the cost of nothing less than at least half an hour, and some loss of lives. This guy ended in about 10 minutes and not once fell to any monster. That takes the cake!
Awesome soundtrack...i used to love this game as a kid, and you could set the dog onto people! It took me AGES to kill the last boss cud u had to fight the black ninjas and they were tough!!
The best game i ever played at sega genesis, have been looking for this game for a while, but i didn't know the name, now i want play it again so bad :(
Actually, it becomes pretty clear at the end of the round - the boss spits out fire and its stomp brings down debris. Obviously, the boss is what caused the city to go up in flames/become utterly devestated.
AMAZING. O_O. This game use to be everything. Now we have games like Call of duty and Halo. Ugh. Not saying they are bad but these games were perfect in every way.
Coulda just sat at the side of the building and got all 50 ninjas but no, you just had to show off at the end and get the last few going back and forth..lol..good work!
Exactly! I'm just trying it. My best friend had have this game on Sega and he (we) never passed the last level. Now I'm trying it and reached alsready the last level. Though these jumping Ninjas in groups kick my ass -.- There must be good luck for jumping on them around without to get hit by a sword o.O
omg thats same here! i'm having so many odd memories of knowing the first levels and the bonus stage etc, but i dont know when it was, how old i was, or where i was,i just know the game. :!
You can double tap the bosses for faster kills on 1, 2, and 4 surprised it's not done on here considering the skill. Also you can 2 hit kill the last boss ninjas by knocking them off screen, use magic on third round ninjas to save time. I could never pull a run like this without a mistake good job.
Damn that boss at 5:28! I never got past him. Doesn't he throw massive disks that are really hard to dodge - and here he doesn't even get the chance to attack xD it's nice to see that guy fall after all these years
The third boss i was like WHAT THE FUCK?! THIS GUY! THIS GUY RIGHT HERE! XD Dude, you make this game seem like nothing. I still have a few problems with it but my Genesis is pretty old and the emulator is annoying. Hats off to you sir.
Looking at this game for possible speedrunning, and I'm slamming my head against the wall trying to pull off your quick kill of boss 3! Any tips for getting that down? Audio/visual cues perhaps?
needs a remake....a ninja + roaming attack dog= genius....never quite had my hands on this game, but if i did , it woulda blew my mind....SEGA is still the king of arcade to me. close second is Capcom...
That was really impressive! I remember liking this game back in the day, but it was a slight disappointment after Revenge of Shinobi, which was just spectacular. Shadow Dancer was too small and too short. A solid example of a Genesis action game, of course. Thanks!
there must have been another version of this game or something... i recall fighting at an airfield / airport with some guy on a plane for a boss that was throwing balls at you or something, and yes it had a white wolf/dog as well... but it probably wasn't shadow dancer, also i think it was for amiga?
theres a trick to second boss. hit em with a star from a distance, but time it so you have time to use ur special right when the star hits him. itll glitch and hit em back to back until hes dead. pretty much use ur special the same time the ninja star hits him. found it out waaaaaay back when i was like 7 years old..
I intend to do a non shriuken / ninjitsu speed run on level three setting, you know, the level three setting with MUCH more enemies and NO POWERUPS >:)
Shadow Dancer can't touch Revenge of Shinobi or Shinobi 3. Still a good game. I like how the game is super hard when you don't know how to play, and easy as balls when you memorize everything.
This game made my childhood...
@Dominik Finley 80s people give anything to my comment as they don't give a F to you and your GF! 😂
Id get so pumped as a kid hearing the ultimate charge up, and id also scream "HUYEAAAHHH" out loud lol
Me too I loved it :)
This was one of my favorite Genesis games of all time, cool to see this.
This is my number one ninja game of all time
lool what wonderful memories this game brings! On my Amiga 600 :) Those were the days!

This is awesome, I finished this game but you really look like you play every day since 1990. Regards
I remember... I lost my last life of my last continue when the last boss had one life point. After this, I was unable to play it againg with the same effort. Along years I was think "What would goind after the last Boss's death". Now I know and the felling of accomplishment didn't come. WHAT TERRIBLE END!
Shadow Dancer: One of the coolest Genesis games. The freefall music was catchy, and the game was like having an arcade game at home.
Wowm you are an excellent player of this game!!

Very fast waw.. But there's only the first bonus level, it looks like some parts are missing?

Excellent speed run. You are amazingly good!
3rd boss and 4-1: outstanding play!!

Shinobi 3 was pretty rad too
I miss this game. I hope SEGA does a new one of this.
I completed this game when i was 7.
Awesome audio, graphic and gameplay.
It's way better than the Shinobi series.
Woah Ive never seen this game before and I grew up on the Sega Genesis, Im totally gonna play this one once I can!
I guess that's the fastest end to this game I have ever seen! Sheer brilliance!
I myself have ended this game, but on the cost of nothing less than at least half an hour, and some loss of lives.
This guy ended in about 10 minutes and not once fell to any monster. That takes the cake!
This game has awesome music
5:30 that fckng boss, I can't belive that way to killing him (or her).. you're AWESOME.... love Shadow Dancer since I was 6
Every time he jumps on or off a ledge, he sounds like the guards from Elder Scrolls Daggerfall
THAT WAS THE GAME I WAS LOOKING FOR THE NAME!
Statue Of Liberty stage 2 Ost is one of my favourite Soundtrack before Jin Kazama Theme, Moonlite Wilderness, and Moon River
I could only get up to the black ninjas when I was younger playing this, and now I watch someone finish it, I was 1 room from the final boss haha.
A ninja is a master of subtlety, that's why they walk round with a big white dog.
That run was amazing. Some of the moves looked familiar. But to complete it in 6mins.....Man....
Awesome soundtrack...i used to love this game as a kid, and you could set the dog onto people! It took me AGES to kill the last boss cud u had to fight the black ninjas and they were tough!!
Man I love this game and still play it. But I could never beat the end boss...
hey, because of this game, i even skip my class for it... such much for my grade year. wonderful game to be remembered.
omg i remember playing this when i was like 5
saudades... bons tempos.
The best game i ever played at sega genesis, have been looking for this game for a while, but i didn't know the name, now i want play it again so bad :(

@TheKrustaceox - Yeah the snes sounded a bit ropey too. But it was the Amiga that made them sound bad....
CONGRATULATIONS
YOU RESCUED WORLD TRADE CENTER
@TheKrustaceox - Never heard of the Amiga? Scandalous!!!
as a ninja are your prepared to face the unfair odds of never ending enemies
Like for Dog
I love this game.
Coulda just sat at the side of the building and got all 50 ninjas but no, you just had to show off at the end and get the last few going back and forth..lol..good work!
mannn soo many memories playin this game
Great play, man!
it was a great run through but do remember he did skip all the bonus stages apart from one. thats what made it such a short run through.
This game is so AWESOME!!! I love it :) sometimes Im playing this game on pc and its so much fun.
Exactly! I'm just trying it. My best friend had have this game on Sega and he (we) never passed the last level. Now I'm trying it and reached alsready the last level. Though these jumping Ninjas in groups kick my ass -.-
There must be good luck for jumping on them around without to get hit by a sword o.O
Finally i have found you................
Haha right its hard to find games of our childhood as we dnt know names of much games
Legendary performance. U rock.
sweet man! I'd like to see a sword only speedrun
Ah, the games of our childgood! Ninjas, soldiers, monsters, helicopters... what else could we have asked for?
I really love this game.

Fastest gameplay.. great work..
Gotta love the soundtrack of this game =)
omg thats same here! i'm having so many odd memories of knowing the first levels and the bonus stage etc, but i dont know when it was, how old i was, or where i was,i just know the game. :!
WHO are you dude ?!!! How can you play this game this good ?? OMG... I never finished this game before with my Sega
You can double tap the bosses for faster kills on 1, 2, and 4 surprised it's not done on here considering the skill. Also you can 2 hit kill the last boss ninjas by knocking them off screen, use magic on third round ninjas to save time. I could never pull a run like this without a mistake good job.
I loved this game when i was i kid but could never beat the cave levels
This Game is easy, especially in level 1 mode 'til the boss comes, but this player was in unbeatable mode!!! He can't get hurt!!!
Damn that boss at 5:28! I never got past him. Doesn't he throw massive disks that are really hard to dodge - and here he doesn't even get the chance to attack xD it's nice to see that guy fall after all these years
Great run in a great game. Good job!
man, the boss of the statue of liberty was ridiculous for this guy...
think you could do a non shriken speed run? that would be intresting to see
Great run
The third boss i was like WHAT THE FUCK?! THIS GUY! THIS GUY RIGHT HERE!
XD
Dude, you make this game seem like nothing.
НЕВЕРОЯТНО!
Its the only game that i can speed run , i say its one the easier games of the 16 bit era
needs a remake....a ninja + roaming attack dog= genius....never quite had my hands on this game, but if i did , it woulda blew my mind....SEGA is still the king of arcade to me. close second is Capcom...
@monokillu
It's on Wii VC right now! Though, I have the original game on my Genesis.
-kidThunder
a masterpiece of a game, really needs a remake.
That was really impressive! I remember liking this game back in the day, but it was a slight disappointment after Revenge of Shinobi, which was just spectacular. Shadow Dancer was too small and too short. A solid example of a Genesis action game, of course. Thanks!
I actually prefer this game to revenge
The Shinobi games on Sega Gen were more fun if you use melee strikes only for the extra challenge + big bonus points.
In the last boss, just jump the rolling ninjas.. They just go away.
Woah dude, beast mode!
Easiest of the Shinobi games, but it was still awesome. :)
there must have been another version of this game or something... i recall fighting at an airfield / airport with some guy on a plane for a boss that was throwing balls at you or something, and yes it had a white wolf/dog as well... but it probably wasn't shadow dancer, also i think it was for amiga?
You can touch / run into enemies without getting hurt...as long as you don't get shot / stabbed by them.
I reall, really like this game. how can it not be on the ultimate sega collection?
this game used to give me fucken chills.
You're damn good, bro
Really short but fun game! Especially if your good at it, Personally I suck at this game.
WOW, played the game like a ninja.
Is Shadow Dancer part of the Shinobi franchise? (I can Google it, but I rather let people know what I'm assuming)
Yes
The title screen changes after you've beaten the game from red to light purple, and the title becomes 'Shadow Dancer II'
Me: "i hate the red ninja"
Black ninja: "wassup"
This guy must be addicted to this game!!
theres a trick to second boss. hit em with a star from a distance, but time it so you have time to use ur special right when the star hits him. itll glitch and hit em back to back until hes dead. pretty much use ur special the same time the ninja star hits him. found it out waaaaaay back when i was like 7 years old..
I had this game in 2 in 1 cartridge with magical hat, adn it also was Japanese.
EPIC WIN!
I intend to do a non shriuken / ninjitsu speed run on level three setting, you know, the level three setting with MUCH more enemies and NO POWERUPS >:)
GREAT F'N MUSIC!
"" YOU WIN"""" !PERFECT
Fanel Fabien List up their.
Shadow Dancer can't touch Revenge of Shinobi or Shinobi 3. Still a good game. I like how the game is super hard when you don't know how to play, and easy as balls when you memorize everything.
nice bonus stage technic...I could only gain 3 lives near the wall...
This game has very good music.
