Bach - WTC II Prelude and fugue no. 10 in E minor BWV 879 - Schornsheim | Netherlands Bach Society

- For the recordings in the Railway Museum, Christine Schornsheim trawled the 'Wohltemperirte Clavier' in search of ‘mechanical’ music. And this pair in E minor does indeed work like a refined little machine: the prelude very smoothly with endless runs, and the fugue with lots of character but slightly less fluidity. Because ‘sometimes a train journey doesn’t run like clockwork either’, says Schornsheim.
Twenty years after his first collection of music in every key imaginable, Bach completed a second 'Wohltemperirte Clavier'. We recorded his first book of Preludes and Fugues at the homes of 24 different musicians. For this second part, performed in its entirety by Christine Schornsheim, we chose 12 very different locations in Utrecht, to celebrate the 900th anniversary of our home city.
Recorded for the project All of Bach on 14 February 2022 at the Railway Museum, Utrecht, the Netherlands. If you want to help us complete All of Bach, please subscribe to our channel bit.ly/2vhCeFB and consider donating bit.ly/3J5uprM.

She plays Bach so wonderfully🍃thank's
Two of my passions in one place: thank you for sharing this wonderful music and images of a railway museum
Another appropriate spot for Bach, considering how much train-ing is required to play his music well.
This comment is a train wreck.
@@shimok9102 You guys are going off the rails.

Simply phenomenal... each and every video NBS produces. Highest class!
Fantastic scenes a Railways muzeum. It shows Bach évet.
Wow! Cembalo playing in such an (other) historical interesting environment! What a great idea! Thank you for sharing your heart and greetings from Germany!❤
Pura delizia mattutina e ottimo inizio 2023.
¡Gracias NBS!! Saludos desde Lima
This is the coolest prelude and fugue ever and she played it so well
Once again, the mastery of the sound engineers accords with the mastery of Christine's exposition of Bach. What a marvel that we hear Bach so clearly through the playing and the recording. Bravo to both!
This society is the best ever. Cheers from Nova Scotia Canada
As a Bach fan and a rail fan, this is a double treat.
¡FELICITACIONES!👍👏🌝⚘
That Fuga is absolutely breathtaking!
Great! M's Schornsheim plays amazing as everytime.
Superb setting and sublime playing. Thank you.
Beautiful as always!
Sends chills down my spine!
Wonderful
As someone who's very slowly trying to learn all of WTC as a lifelong project, watching this while on the train back from Christmas holidays made me smile
The best fugue of them all
Thank you so much for such beauty!
If I'm not mistaken, she trills the same way I do: minor 2nd in the left hand, major 2nd in the right hand :) Also one of my favorite fugues (and fugue subjects) of the entire WTC.... The sequence at 5:11 haunts me forever.
Happy New Year!

Esto es maravilloso ❤
WTC reminds me of the world trade center building RIP
Fuga perfetta

Does anyone know how the pages are turned on the iPad here? Is there a helper doing it remotely?
It is done by a foot pedal.
I find myself wondering how these would sound on a baroque instrument with a dynamic range. An early piano, perhaps? Or a clavichord?
i si molts musics, cada mati tocaven bach, perquè seria ?.
Any chance of Bach on a tram? 🙂
"Clang Clang Clang" went the trolley?
Woodward plays it correctly.
