Cool video. BS Physics1980. I remember Kip telling our GR class that he was looking to build a laser interferometer to detect gravitational waves; 'sounded like a long shot at the time. Really great to see that the student population is much more diverse than it was when I was there.
@@locnguyengia9879 because it is the pseudo intellectual characteture of what dumb people think smart people look like. Their jokes aren't references, they just speak a bunch of smart sounding words, and the punchline is that they are nerds. The characters participate, and/or are complicit in a wide variety of racism, sexism, and sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is not cute just because the portrayers are nerdy and pathetic. No one, and I mean no one at CalTech reminds me of what this show portrays. Yeah, there are some awkward people, there are some real geniuses (I've met a few myself), but none flagrantly disregard the humanity of woman as those bafoons on tbbt. If anything, this show has helped me empathize with urm communities when they are upset about the dismal portrayal of these cultures in media. I'm not just butt hurt about how they portray my friends and I, the writing is garbage too. Ever watch it without a laugh track telling you when to laugh? It's frankly awkward and sad writing that gets far more credit than it disserves.
@@Joshua-nq3iq well war movies don't make constant vapid jokes that have no punchline other than soldiers are soliders. The jokes are void of meaning and are the lowest forms of reference comedy. If you replaced any of the jokes prefacing tbbt laugh tracks with utter jargony-sounding nonsense, most of the audience who watches it wouldn't know the difference. That's because these jokes are devoid of meaning, and leave only the punchline of "haha look at these socially inept nerds". On top of that, the characters are morosely misogynistic.

No, really, what's not to like about caltech? This is a sales pitch after all, hence it's misinformation at best - stuff is being omitted. What would a more complete, "warts-and-all" picture of the caltech experience look like I wonder? I'm genuinely curious. Perhaps there aren't any "warts", and it really is all as good as it sounds in this video.

My theory is: Space is not curved, time is not the 4th dimension, gravity is not caused by curvature of space, time does not slow down when you travel faster, speed of light is not the maximum speed in nature, and these are all laughable childish theories. Gravity is from the entire system of the Universe, if you want to understand gravity, you have to understand the whole forces of universe. His theory was a waste of time in my opinion. Why are Dr. Sheldon Cooper and Dr. Leonard Hofstadter not front and center on this video?
