  • Relax as I show you a selection of old magazines, catalogs, and comic books while calmly rambling on about them.
    This is video 524 of this channel and is best enjoyed when using headphones or ear buds.
    This video was produced with relaxation in mind for both me and you, and hopefully has some ASMR qualities. Too much stress is harmful to your well-being and in today’s fast-paced world, stress management is more important than ever, and so I hope this ASMR video acts as a stress reliever for those watching and a sleep-aid for anyone having a difficult time falling asleep.

    My dad made me one of those Schwinn type bikes in the 70's
    With the small front wheel and a 3 speed shifter on the frame.
    Every time he locked himself in the shed for a couple of weeks I knew I was getting something great.

    I'm 37, so this is the sweet spot for me lol. My parents were too poor to shop at JC Penney, although id get school clothing there when I got a little older and was self conscious about what I wore. The irony of that Death of Superman comic is that it's practically worthless (no matter how pristine they are kept) because everyone else has the same idea and the quantities printed were way above the normal run for these "collector's item" type issues so the supply is still very high. Anybody that wants one can easily find them. The age isn't so important as much as how limited the printing was so that the quantities are lower. The old Supply and Demand formula. That doesn't stop people from asking ridiculously high prices (whether they are getting those prices is another story).

      I'm not sure what NASA has or doesn't have from the Apollo era. I only remember seeing headlines some time ago saying that they no longer had the data. With the loss of whatever that data was, as well as the retirement of the people that got us there before, plus I imagine that so much has changed over the decades when it comes to materials, it's easy to see why going back to the moon 50 years later would essentially be starting from scratch all over again in some regards.

    Yearbooks (for better or worse) are an alien concept here in England. They seem like a fun idea, but the parents would inevitably wonder who would foot the bill. Even the yearly school photos are too expensive for some poorer families, so...

    • @kyrridas1573
      @kyrridas1573 2 роки тому

      from the schools i went to (a million years ago), creating the yearbooks was usually done by an extra-curricular group of students. the only 'cost' was for the student headshots and the physical production of the books. the photos were usually pretty cheap (when i was younger, im pretty sure it was free. you just had to show up). the school was paying a photographer to sit there and snap photos for an hour or two during lunch break. not too expensive. at least, it wasnt before photoshop came around and they started offering to airbrush out kids blemishes for additional cost. as for the book itself, you didnt HAVE to order one, but they ran like $25. arguably a bargain for a hardback with mostly color printing.
      that all being said, i dont have any of mine any more. he mentions keeping them for the memories, i got rid of mine for the same.

    That Marvel Comics #15 is a very rare, & very desirable comic book. It's worth contacting CGC comics for opinions on restoration. Marvel Comics #1 is the 2nd most valuable comic in the world & yes, #15 isn't #1, but it's still rare enough & historic enough to preserve. As a life long enthusiast, I truly hope you consider restoration for preservation purposes, or putting into the hands of someone who will do the necessary work. It would be a sin to let it wither away

    I've watched this video a few times already, and each time it brings a tear to my eye. It does so because it reminds me of what this country use to stand for. It reminds me of what life used to be in this country. I'm 55 years old, so like Mr. & Mrs. Relaxing ASMR, I have a different perspective than, say, anyone under the age of 30. I too remember students at my Catholic high school who drove to school in their pickup trucks with gun racks loaded with long rifles. Like many kids, I was bullied, and when that happened I wanted to beat the person up with my fists. At no time did the idea of using a gun ever enter my mind. It was inconceivable to do such a thing. Why. Because I had the fear of God in my soul, meaning that doing such an act would mean eternal damnation. The idea of the separation of church and state is NOT in the constitution of the United States, and it was never in the minds of those who wrote and/or signed it. As justice Clarence Thomas wrote, the idea of this separation needs to readdressed and probably overturned. We're in very dire times, possibly the most dire that this country (and the world) has ever experienced in modern times. What's happening in the United States, this culture war (and it is a war, do not be fooled) is not unique, as it's happening in almost every country in the Western world. A lot of damage has been done to our customs, culture and our traditions. Hopefully we can heal with discourse and not a kinetic civil war, but as Thomas Sowell explains and as history has shown, whenever this kind of intersectionality has been implemented, it has resulted in violent skirmishes or outright civil war.
    Sorry for this political rant, but I love my country, or should I say, the country that use to be the United States of America.
