It honestly just feels like they went after the 2 jobs that have beneficial non standard rotations and forcing everyone into the standard rotation. I'm a very casual samurai player and these changes feel targeted for this reason. Nobody was having issues with 2 stacks of tsubame. And while I understand the attempt to make a clean rotation, hagakure already exists for this reason. I'll still play it but monk definitely looks more attractive right now.
My guess as to why tendo is 3.2 (2.8) is because it has a cast and they want you to have a double weave window since the cast takes one weave. I don’t know why they want this but that was the only reason I thought of when I originally saw it. I don’t think it’s a good change though. Feels gross was a good way to put it.
I dont like my second midare being locked behind Meikyo but it is what it is. But to make it like Ninja's Chadori and lose it if you dont immediately use it? THEE FUCK?!
A great video! I'm not a samurai player normally, and this video did a good job unraveling just how weird these changes are. Whoever is in charge of samurai has been trying to "simplify" the job for a while and it keeps causing problems without them realizing. If i may ask a question of you: Lets assume they wanted to add an upgraded Midare that you use once every sixty seconds. Given that adding it to Mekiyo causes problems, what do you think would have been a better way to implement it?
Unironically, bring back Kaiten, make it have a 60s CD and 2 stacks, and give it the sword spinning animation. It might make people mad that gauge Kaiten isn't coming back, but it would help the people who just miss the sword spinning. If they needed to free up a hotbar space to make room there's a couple of options, but one example might be to have the Iajutsu button change into the Tsubame button after casting a Midare or Tenka Goken. There would still be some issues, mainly Tendo and Tsubame having to be used back to back, but this would be relatively minor, since you could always hold Kaiten for the Iajutsu you plan to use with Tsubame.
As a SAM main, I dreaded coming back to my main class after DT release. I finally did so yesterday and everything felt wrong. This will be the first time since Stormblood that I can no longer enjoy my favorite class. The Meikyo change feels almost malicious because it makes me hate my favorite class so much.
As a SAM main the changes they made feel clunky and not as smooth as it previously did, its almost like there is a hic-up inside the rotation and things dont line up properly. Do not like.
Non-raider here. haven't played Dawntrail yet (still focusing on PC upgrades) but i don't like the sound of the Meikyo change and i really need to rewatch a few times to understand that tacking Tsubame ready and Tendo into Meikyo is definitely not the answer, the EW version of Meikyo is to me a good change with just extra stack to use. Tendo getting locked into meikyo is annoying to read and funnily enough i thought Midare getting upgrades permanently not with this Tendo shenanigans. And fixing this is actually easy, bring back kaiten but change it to give tendo and cooldown adjustment and all that. Why the eff is tsubame tacked into meikyo (in EW i think it's just 2 stacks of Meikyo, nothing more nothing less iirc) god only knows. isn't tsubame just ready after you iaijutsu? just leave it like that! oh and let me tell you the other changes in EW i am mostly fine but the loss of Kaiten is what i actually raged on even as a casual player, the loss of Kaiten make Samurai a snoozefest to play and giving midare auto crit? regardless of the crit change i think it's just compensation for losing Kaiten which i begrudgingly accept after the loss of Kaiten
So if I understand correctly, the main issue is tacking things onto cooldown(which everyone is getting) and that this new Tendo skills have too long a recast gcd, throwing everything outta cycle? Seems minor to fix by just reducing this recast? I might not understand complexities 😅
The big issue is that by tacking Tsubame and Tendo onto Meikyo, you completely destroy its flexibility. Ad-hoc is pretty much dead. The recast time of Tendo is minor in comparison to that main point.
@@booshalmighty Its no only ad-hoc. Some setups with downtime close to end of fight, also make it worse to play for standard rotation optimization. Good example is p12s add phase. You could use 2 Meikyos right after add phase for more inital burst, because of the 55s instead of 60s cd. Since its close to the end you dont care about not having meikyo in your following 60. Now you will be forced to hold it in some scenarios, cause the tendo proc is more important than getting a better initial burst. The change generally just sucks. I had some top 10 parses on the job and in this expansion im just happy, that i am enjoying Viper about as much as i did Samurai in early Endwalker so i dont have to play it.
People need to let go of kaiten. yes we all miss it. But fr, GET OVER IT , I'm so tired of people acting like kaiten was the jobs entire identity, the amount of crying ppl do over it is annoying . Yes the skill was cool af but those saying Sam lost its identity after we lost kaiten and those who quit are doing too much lol . I do agree with the sentiment of wishing they would give us another kenki spender other than shinten for real but either way, a true samurai will keep on the path kaiten or not. 💯
@siinuxxblume5123 its not that I don't miss the old skills, but for me the core identity of the class is the building of Sen and executing the Quickdraw techniques, I am sad they took kaiten away but it just isn't enough to make me quit. I do however wish we could get a different Kenki spender cuz spamming shinten is kinda mid I will admit lol

I find it funny that people have talked very little about samurai in DT, its just there doing samurai stuff and nobody seems to care 😂

Kaiten gives the tendo buff? That would be an awesome change
Am I the only one that likes the long recast timer? Looks good and i can triple weave. 420 sks for life

wait people didnt like Tenka Goken bring a circle?

Tendo should have been a permanent upgrade not a unlock. THE ISSUE IS tendo being shit
convinced me
Black Mage and Samurai will be mained

Name me 1 change to Samurai, that you have enjoyed following Endwalker release.
@@siinuxxblume5123 you definitely didn't read my entire comment.
@@CmonstahxD I did, it was an honest question. I am not happy with any of the changes. Wanna get a different perspective of someone that likes it.

Shut up mate 😂
just as whack as the other rotation alterations. They really like clubbing every job as hard as they can with each expac, huh?
rip samurai, hopefully kaiten comes back mid expansion
Unfortunately i am dog shit with other job so kinda forced to stay with this crap they keep putting out lol
real samurai mains are too busy doing dps to cry about meikyo
