Future Gohan is the only version id play in just about anything when it comes to variants. I don't hate Gohan but the future version is the only one I like.
For how great this special is, my favorite moment is Goku saying bye to Gohan. It's such a simple scene, yet the way he says it so perfectly encapsulates everything about their father/son relationship from Gohan's perspective.
The vegeta scream being timed with the rewritten argument to have Bulma accidently cringe Trunks into wanting to leave cuz he couldn't handle the thought of his mom trying to sleep with his idol Gohal is the single funniest thing in all of DBAbridged to me! Some of the best comedic writing they've done yet, before episode 50 goes even further beyond!
I guess you had to cut the part with the Dr Who music because copyright but daaamn that's probably the best scene tfs ever made and it's a SERIOUS ONE! I love it because it shows they're as good with drama as they are with humor!
Clarifying the timeline shenanigans for you: At the moment android 17 and 18 where activated, cell was just an embryo in Dr. Gero's sub lab. It took 17 years for it to develop into imperfect cell. By the time he matured, Trunks had already went back in time, saved Goku from cardiac failure and trained with everyone, so Trunks came back to his timeline's future and killed the androids, and therefore Cell had no way of becoming perfect in that universe (which by the way is another different timeline parallel to the one the Trunks we know came from). Cell then found the time machine, took Trunks by surprise, killed him and travel to our main timeline where everything is now unfolding. So in short, there are 3 timelines pretty similar between themselves, one where our Trunks comes from, the main timeline, and one where cell comes from. No way of blaming you for getting lost into that mess 😅
And just the fact that the move's name left them completely confused is exactly why the joke of Piccolo being unable to pronounce it exists. Looking at it now, it's really not that complicated. But seeing it back in the 90's, when none of us were accustomed to Japanese words, and it translated into an incomprehensible hodgepodge of letters.
The floating cat is Puar and is actually a shapeshifter. So is Oolong the pig but this fact is almost never used after the initial dragon ball series, like very rarely in DB Super.
Future/3rd-Bulma is correct with her Multiverse theory. The original Dragon Ball series and Dragon Ball Z up until Frieza arrives on Earth takes place in the 1st/ OG timeline. Everything afterwards takes place in the 4th timeline. Going back to make a change creates a new timeline so there are 4 timelines now. There’s an original timeline in which Cell and Trunks reside. Trunks uses the Time Machine to get blueprints from Dr. Gero’s lab on how to defeat the androids. This creates timeline 2, also known as the unseen timeline because we never see anything beyond this. You can always go back and forth between a timeline you create and the timeline of your origin even after the timeline you created progresses into the future. When Trunks returns from timeline 2, Cell steals his Time Machine. Cell uses the Time Machine to go back to 1 year before Frieza’s arrival on Earth. He then buries himself underground to gather energy, creating the 3rd timeline the 3rd timeline is displayed in this movie. 3rd timeline Trunks goes back in time to give Goku medicine and warn the Z fighters about the androids. This creates the 4th timeline, which is TV show that we know and love. Trunks leaves from the 4th timeline to go back to his timeline (the 3rd timeline) then returns back to the 4th timeline and is confused about the different androids (19,20, & 16). Cell (from the 1st timeline) emerges from underground and becomes a threat even greater than the androids. Krillin kills testube Cell (4th timeline) in Dr. Gero’s lab basement. This doesn’t create a new timeline because no one came from the future to do it. Both Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super would be a continuation of the 4th timeline. GT isn’t canon so the recent Super anime begins in the 4th timeline.
So remember in episode 18 when Vegeta realized Gohan stole the Dragonball and his scream shattered the time barrier and echoed 20 years into the future?
They are actually cyborgs aka part human kidnapped by gero and turned into monsters with tech...they hate their life they have a mission and hate humans...androids is a dubism to make the saga less sad in a way for kids....

Which in of itself makes sense. But what doesn't makes sense to me is why did both Trunks from the first, and Cell from the second wind up in the third. I've always felt like Cell should've diverged into a fourth timeline. Not to mention where that Trunks dies timeline came from in the first place.
you know, one thing i don't get it....don't saiyans get stronger when they survive tough battles? it's implied gohan fought the cyborgs a bunch of times, he still couldn't get strong enough to beat them? smh
Did you ever watch the official series? If not, you're really missing out and probably shouldn't have watched this fan-made parody until afterwards - which make sense seeing as there are a lot of jokes only people who've seen the official series will completely get.
