If I may suggest, this is a perfect time to take advantage of the fact that Lemmy was also the bassist and sometime vocalist for Hawkwind. Motorhead performed at least two of the songs Lemmy wrote with Hawkwind. The one I think you'd enjoy most is "Lost Johnny." It's a very stripped-down version of Lemmy's song, since Hawkwind was/is a large, Space-Rock sort of band, but the Motorhead version has all the essentials of the song, just scored for a trio instead of a large ensemble. Then you could give the recording of Hawkwind performing "Silver Machine" a try for a taste of Lemmy singing and playing with a far larger band. I'd say that any day you get to hear Lemmy play and sing is a good day. --Dan
I'm always a bit surprised when people say they've never heard 'Ace of Spades'. Beautiful one little side note Fast Eddie Clark after playing in Motorhead form the double bed in the early eighties that had a number of hit's called fast way. Also they did the soundtrack for me. Is classic horror film with ozzy osbourne and geene simmons in it Call tricker treat

Check out 'We Are The Road Crew'. Lemmy's lyrics are clever. Also, Fast Eddie Clarke fell down in the recording studio while recording one his guitar solos. He had trouble getting back up, and in the meantime his guitar is just making a bunch of noise. When the band listened to the playback, they thought it sounded cool & decided to use that solo in the song.
First saw Motorhead in Bradford when I was 14. From that day Lemmy was my God and I loved everything about them all. The line up with Lemmy, Fast Eddie and Philthy Animal Taylor was superb.
If Lemmy said they play rock and roll, I'm not going to argue with him. RIP Lemmy, Philthy Animal and Fast Eddie. There have been several band line ups, but the best (in my opinion) was Phil, Lemmy and Eddie. They play fast and loud and I love it 🤘
@@j.woodbury412 I also think he didn't care about labels, they played hard and fast music that hit you like a truck. I listened to a lot of loud music as a teen in the 80's and my hearing has suffered in my older age, but I'm still going to play Motorhead as loud as possible 😄
When icons of Nordic culture Ace of Base visited a talk show on Swedish TV3, the house band played the chorus of this song, but sang “Ace of Base” instead.

I remember sitting with them at the bar of St Albans City Hall (Now Civic Hall), back in 1978 before they became really famous. Didn't have a clue at the time who they were but I had heard of Lemmy and the original Hawkwind song Motörhead. Once I heard their opening version of Motörhead, I was converted!
What a rabbit hole, in Mötorhead! Great review :). For more killer classic Mötorhead tracks I recommend Iron Fist, Eat The Rich, Stone Dead Forever, Mean Machine, Ramones, Damage Case, Overkill, Motorhead, and Orgasmatron!
Nice to see a little headbanging. I think you're ready. It's hard to narrow down songs to recommend. I'll just go with a couple of my favorites: "Orgasmatron" and "Get Back in Line."
strong raspy voice and awesome guitar and drums-of course you know this band/Lemmy wrote 2016 just done by Sabaton. A side note-he got his name Lemmy instead of Lenny as he was always saying "lemmy borrow a fiver..."
I hope, I REALLY HOPE, there is exist some Universe, in which is some reactors those react to OTHER SONGS OF Motörhead, not only Ace Of Spades (even though that is good song).
Lemmy Rules! I saw him right against the stage, right below his mike stand, he was sweating on everyone and at times you could hear the notes from him ripping at his bass a split second before they roared out of the amplifiers. He was one of a kind and will always be heard if you want it loud and proud. Try their One Track Mind for another thrill. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
"We're Motorhead and we play Rock N Roll" and that was it for Lemmy's banter except when he asked "Are you having a good time? Yeah, we'll take care of that."
OMG!! MAGGIE!!! I have seen MOTORHEAD live soooo many times in my life.from bars to stadiums!B BORN TO LOSE LIVE TO WIN!oH AND mAGGIE bang that head thhat doesnt bang!!! cheers!!!
His real name is Ian Kilmister. There are two legends about how he became Lemmy. One as a kid he often asked people to Lemme (Lend me) a quid. The other is one he became famous people always asked he to Lemme some money.
First Time Metal Heads and Punks were untited in one Band!....Ozzy is the Prince of Darkness, but LEMMY was/is/will ever be GOD!....the Greatest Rock'n'Roller ever has lived!....every Concert were introduced by Lemmy like this : "Good Evening! We are Motörhead...and we play Rock'n'Roll!"........you should react to their Song OVERKILL Live in my Hometown Düsseldorf...one of their best Performances ever filmed/recorded !
I saw motorhead live in Sheffield at a very small venue, maybe only about 150 in the audience. The Student union building. And someone threw a pint pot at lemmy. He stopped the gig and got the guy beaten and thrown out, then continued playing. Great Times back then in the 80s!
Glad you checked it out. I'm sure you'll get lots of recommendations. One of my favorites is "In The Name Of Tragedy" (live version) in Dusseldorf, Germany. He was about 60 I think and still great! You will get to hear him talk while he introduces the song so you can compare talking and singing. - "Born to lose, live to win"
The only other bassist I know of that is also the lead singer is tom arraya from slayer, lemmy just plays the bass a lot more fast than tom arraya. Almost like a regular guitar instead of a bass.

That voice was the product of chain smoking and Jack Daniels. Also, Lemmy positioned his mic like that for personal comfort and because it helped him avoid seeing that there were only ten people and a dog in the audience in the days when there were only ten people and a dog in the audience. Phil Taylor, the drummer, got the name Philthy Animal because they had to make him bathe while he was on tour. Fast forward to 2008 and check out their cover of David Bowie's "Heroes". they are a bit more polished by that time. Their cover of The Rolling Stones "Sympathy for the devil" off of 2015's Bad Magic (Their 22nd and final) is also really good. Another Tidbit. Lemmy never referred to Motorhead as a metal band. he just called it all "Rock N Roll"
This was my introduction to metal (Back in the early 2000s when I was playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2) and I got hooked instantly. So Tony Hawk's game basically turned me into a metal head 😛
This iteration of the band Motorhead were trailblazers and influenced so much of what was to come total genres stemmed from their approach to music they were Rock God's🤘
Overkill (the album) is the most impact-full. When it came out in 79 nothing remotely like it had ever been heard. Overkill (the song) is also the best (but I'm hardly objective because I still struggle to stand up after that hit in 79). For the full spectrum here some different songs: 1916, Brotherhood of man, Whorehouse blues, I Ain't No Nice Guy, Just ‘Cos You Got the Power. And bonus: MOTORHEAD & GIRLSCHOOL: Please Don't Touch and Stand by Your Man (featuring Wendy O. Williams).
When I was a young guy in the Army. When we climbed into our tank. This was our marching music. 10 minutes on the road to the 4 hour fight. It worked well for us not so well for them.
Lemmy always said "we're Motorhead and we play rock'n'roll". I wouldn't argue with the man. A true legend.

Check out the tune "Motorhead".. Lemmy was literally a speed freak.. back in the day the slang for speed freaks was 'motorhead'.. The band ,his entire life, was based on speed. Rhythmically and pharmaceutically.
"We're Motorhead. We play rock n' roll"... Lemmy's standard introduction to every show. Every show I saw anyways, saw them 9 times between '83 and '93-ish, might have been '92... usually couldn't hear anything for a day or two after the show....
They had the dubious reputation of being the loudest band in the world. The only band so loud that the music even shows above heavy machinery, thus a quote from Lemmy. And that's right, in the 1980s I was an intern at a sheet metal shop as a software programmer. An isolated little office where I did my work and in the workshop everywhere huge loud maschines stamping metal sheets. Next to each maschine was a worker with portable stereo with hard rock music on it, much of it Motörhead, volume at maximum by default, in order to rise above the maschines. And only Motörhead could be really identified as such... An admirable achievement.
@@LibertySpam Ted was crazy. Didn't they call him "The Madman" ? In my teenage times a visited my sister and brother in law often. My brother in law was a carpenter. He had triple-insulated his attic so you couldn't hear anything outside. In that attic were his big Jamo speakers and a Scott amplifier and a whole collection of hard rock LPs. I'm not a fan of Ted Nugent, but I remember that frantic guitar solo and drums from his live album Gonzo, on Stormtrooper. Then that Scott amp went to volume 10. Great times and Great Music.

If Lemmy said they play rock and roll, I'm not going to argue with him. RIP Lemmy, Philthy Animal and Fast Eddie. There have been several band line ups, but the best (in my opinion) was Phil, Lemmy and Eddie. They play fast and loud and I love it 🤘
This is just my opinion, but I think Lemmy was saying he didn't care about labels.
@@j.woodbury412 I also think he didn't care about labels, they played hard and fast music that hit you like a truck. I listened to a lot of loud music as a teen in the 80's and my hearing has suffered in my older age, but I'm still going to play Motorhead as loud as possible 😄
@@dragonmac1234 Definitely! Motorhead rules!
Tell me about it, i have really bad tinnitus but would probably do it all again given the chance ♠️
I knew you would like that, one of my favourite bands.Have a good day.
Motor head were there for me when I had a Awakening. So they have a special place in my heart and mind.
You should check out anything from the live "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith"... One of the greatest live albums ever.
This song starts punching you in the face from the first note and it Does. Not. Let. Up. It's a perfect hard rock song.
When icons of Nordic culture Ace of Base visited a talk show on Swedish TV3, the house band played the chorus of this song, but sang “Ace of Base” instead.
I am from Munich and this is a well made video ... Nymphenburg is inside the citylimits.. I grew up about 1 km away from the palace.... the park is for free ... can recommend watching all the sites he listed in his video
🤘🤪🤘
strong raspy voice and awesome guitar and drums-of course you know this band/Lemmy wrote 2016 just done by Sabaton. A side note-he got his name Lemmy instead of Lenny as he was always saying "lemmy borrow a fiver..."
One of my favourite Motorhead tunes is Iron Horse/Born To Lose.
My favourite housework music! Love Motorhead!
Go maggie go....nicely done ...next song for you ...run around man ,English rose..keep it up girl ...😎😎😎
Thank you! 😎😎😎
OMG!! MAGGIE!!!
I have seen MOTORHEAD live soooo many times in my life.from bars to stadiums!B BORN TO LOSE LIVE TO WIN!oH AND mAGGIE bang that head thhat doesnt bang!!! cheers!!!
Punks and Metal Heads both love Motörhead
Lemmy brings people together!
Every time I watch one of these reviews they like the song
"We are Motorhead.... and we play Rock and Roll!"
Killed by death, iron fist and orgasmatron are great motorhead songs
@Steve Wothers. Great call. As a "bonus" deeper cut, I would recommend (a personal favorite) "Liar". Cheers!
All Great Choices!!Was Happy to have seen them a couple times on that tour.
His real name is Ian Kilmister. There are two legends about how he became Lemmy. One as a kid he often asked people to Lemme (Lend me) a quid. The other is one he became famous people always asked he to Lemme some money.
Never throught I would hear Lemmy Kilmister and Tom Petty in the same context. Amazing!
🤘😜🤘
Listen to "Damage Case", "Deaf Forever", "Killed by Death" and "Hellraiser"
This is Motörhead and they play Rock"n"Roll ... 🤘😝
Legendary Lemmy! Overkill live’ is a must!!
All three of these awesome gentlemen are gone. I've seen Motorhead 9 times. Met Lemmy many times as well.....just the best.
Lemmy started out in Rock and Roll as Jimi Hendrix Rodie
I've seen them 5 times here in Cincinnati. Met Lemmy back at the bus last show. Gentleman! Probably around 19 90. Try song- I aint No Nice Guy
You don't see very many Bass players be the lead vocal. Rock Heros! Thanks most beautiful one!
The only other bassist I know of that is also the lead singer is tom arraya from slayer, lemmy just plays the bass a lot more fast than tom arraya. Almost like a regular guitar instead of a bass.
@@dillonsronce2583 Geddy Lee is another good example.
@@dillonsronce2583 Alan Davey in a later version of Hawkwind played in Lemmy's style
1916!!!!! Both the Motorhead original and the Sabaton cover. You will cry your eyes out.
Lemmy truly brilliant, a stokie through and through
THE ESSENCE OF ROCK'N'ROLLL..GOD BLESS LEMMY..R.I.P.
Lemmy was a roadie for Jimi Hendrix before getting famous, what a legend
Apparently he used to supply him with acid to lol ♠️
@@ackerjawaka1966 Yeah i read that too, not sure how true that is, considering he got fired from his band for not enjoying lsd, but speed instead. Doesnt really take away his legend status if its true or not tho haha
@@TheOsloDude in the interview i saw lemmy said he would get 7 acid for him he would give lemmy 2 and neck the other 5 and ive heard lemmy talk about hawkwinds drug snobbery a few times over the years, i think there was lemmy and dikmic who were speedheads out of the entire band and they got rid of both, shame really coz any interview dave brock gives he always speaks very highly of lemmy saying they were the best times when he was in the band ♠️
@@ackerjawaka1966 thats awsome
@@TheOsloDude would of loved to have seen hawkwind with lemmy but too young unfortunately, first time I saw them was in 1983, saw them 5 times in the 80s then about 30 odd years later, they were just as good but really quiet lol ♠️
Yes...I can confirm attendances at two gigs in 1976. One was less than ten & at another thirty in the audience. I counted them!
Even with all the $$$ he had, he still led a simple, humble life and always treated his fans with the utmost respect. RIP Lemmy, you are truly missed.
"We're Motorhead, and we play rock n' roll" - Classical sentence from Lemmy.
they literally rocked until they died... never stop the mädness!
"Overkill" Live by Motorhead is a must.
A true legend.
if you remember the wacken festival, from where you watched the nightwish - ghost love score viedo, there is a permanent lemmy bar and statue of lemmy inside the area of the festival. Hi from Brazil!!!
Check out the tune "Motorhead".. Lemmy was literally a speed freak.. back in the day the slang for speed freaks was 'motorhead'.. The band ,his entire life, was based on speed. Rhythmically and pharmaceutically.
A quote from the movie Airheads. "Who is greater Lemmy or God"? "Errrrrrr trick question , Lemme is God" !
I have listened to Tom Petty and Lemmy since late 70s. First time i have heard someone saying they are similar. That must be on one song.😎🤗🇳🇴
"We're Motorhead. We play rock n' roll"... Lemmy's standard introduction to every show. Every show I saw anyways, saw them 9 times between '83 and '93-ish, might have been '92... usually couldn't hear anything for a day or two after the show....
I would like to hear a lovely children's choir version of this song.
My license plate is: MOTRHED... My favorite band along with Black Sabbath. 🤘
Lemmy, was truly one of the most unique individuals to ever walk the Earth.
Motörhead rocks 🎸
They had the dubious reputation of being the loudest band in the world. The only band so loud that the music even shows above heavy machinery, thus a quote from Lemmy. And that's right, in the 1980s I was an intern at a sheet metal shop as a software programmer. An isolated little office where I did my work and in the workshop everywhere huge loud maschines stamping metal sheets. Next to each maschine was a worker with portable stereo with hard rock music on it, much of it Motörhead, volume at maximum by default, in order to rise above the maschines. And only Motörhead could be really identified as such... An admirable achievement.
Ted Nugent is the loudest if we discount DJ type shows. Bassnectar was so loud the town believed it was an earthquake
