For those that didn't read the books, Geralt was *very* sad that he killed all those people, and eventually (the one who sent them). So much so that he had to go to a temple of healing for a while to get it off his mind. The show kind of just glosses over this as if it was another day in the life of Geralt.
That's because he *wanted* to do this show very much. He almost went out of his way to audition for the role. He's played all the games and read all the books. This was a passion project for him.
@@rain9058 Yet he acted so badly. Wrong voice, pretty much weird panic attacks that Geralt does simply not do throughout the show (example when Dandelion and him were captured by Filavandrel - where Dandelion: "this is where we escape" and Geralt says "this is where we die" and moves maniacally, screams and roars - Geralt shouldn't have random panic attacks for absolutely no reason, especially not saying this is where we die where he doesn't even know tf is happening), or random anger outbreaks that are both badly acted out and unnatural, and plain weird for Geralt's character according to the books or very well continued games (scene with Dandelion after saving Villentretenmerth's baby for example), and so on. Your complaint of "coping the video game character" is unironically a compliment, it means they have done well in portraying the source character. Cavill is an avid Witcher fan having read all the books and lore. So saying he is "copying" the character, is literally the best thing you could have said. I'm not sure what you want? They were completely outclassed. Its a testament to the last guy's skill that he was able to block a few hits and stay alive for even a couple of seconds.
Yeah, Witchers vs humans is almost always a one-sided slaughter. The only fights I can think of where humans were able to keep up with a Witcher was Renfri (though I think Geralt was holding back as he didn't want to kill her) and Olgierd (yes, I know that's only in the games and he was immortal at the time, but still). If there are any others, let me know. I've only made it to Blood of Elves so far.
I think he was trying to use that to scare the others off. That’s the only reason I can think of to split a man’s skull like that. Wait... I just thought of another. It’d have taken too long to pull the sword out, and Geralt didn’t have no patience for that shit.
The guy with the crossbow really thought that after geralt blocked one shot, he was thinking a second shot was gonna do it? Lol, I would have been gone after the first.
The scene where he choose gift of surprise was good, the fight with the girl who was cursed, nekers(sp), were some great fight scenes. Plus a ton of just great moments and Geralt one liners through out the season.
Here's what's gonna happen, stupid people will start pulling out their stupid race cards and start yapping for "diversity," then their gonna call for Cavill's removal from the lead role and replace him with a woman, a black gay woman just to be clear. Yeesssss!!!
For people who do not understand this scene: Geralt killed off those goons because they wanted to murder all those people on the market to force Stregobor to leave his tower so that Renfri could kill him. Geralt decides to kill them for "the lesser evil" that he did not believe in at first. At the end people throw rocks at him and tell him to leave Blaviken forever while he actually saved their lives, but without them knowing that. Then Marilka, (Marilka's father in the book) who knew what really happened, tells him to leave to leave anyway because of Geralt's safety. I hoped I kinda informed some people because this story was very unclearly explained in the series and you actually have to read the book to really understand it.

If you need, I can share the link to this petition. That's how we can try to support his amazing version of the Geralt of Rivia
They mistook him for a common witcher. They’re not as invincible as people make them out to be. I’m sure a common one would have probably been killed. But geralt is like the top Witcher right under vesemir so they were out of luck lol
What I love in this scene is the usage of the backhanded grip. Typically, wielding a sword like that is a death sentence. The fact that Geralt does it with such finesse is like a way of mocking Renfri's gang, like they're not worth his time.
I think (think) he only backhands the silver sword, and one of the smaller blades from the meat puppets . . . I mean peasants. Backhanding a steel longsword would be insanely hard, even with mutated super strength.
I also love the "frustration-aard" :D I mean it feels like there was no real point in knocking them back and then waiting for them to attack again :D He was just pushing them around

The most amazing fight scene ever. And it just makes it so much cooler to know how much effort, hard work and practice Henry Cavill put into capturing this scene to perfection. So admirable.
Geralts reaction to them threatening his fucking hilarious. He just knows he can kill all of them but he just genuinely doesn’t want to go through the work of actually killing all of them lol.
It’s more than that. He really didn’t want it to come to this. He’s so disappointed in the girl and now the whole town is gonna hate him more than they already do. But they’ve given him no choice.
Hey can we all just stop for one second and truly appreciate the camera work at play here? Look at any fight scene from say the Bourne ultimatum, then watch this. They don't change the camera 750 times in 20 seconds. In fact this is one single shot with Cavill ACTUALLY doing the action. Bravo to whomever put this scene together. with the style of combat here the reverse grip is actually perfectly fine and was used in this manner for hundreds of years. Reverse grip is good with the grapple/stabbing motions he's mainly using here and you can see him change his grip when switching to slashing motions.

Nah forget it it's always like that 20 opponents and everyone go 1 by one and the rest of them watching lol. Same in many many other movies John Wick, Equalizer etc etc
You actually don't get 8v1 in this type of a combat situation. Not so good if while swinging your sword, you lop your ally's head off, because your not a mind reader and don't know where's he's going to be at every instant of time. Now think of eight people trying to weave their way around without hitting each other. An actual medieval weapon's expert rated this battle as being fairly realistic, minus the magic use and bolt deflection of course.
I understand your point but I've seen a lot worse than this tbh, I thought they done quite a good job with how fast he was at taking them out, didn't really give much of a chance to group together and fight, he dealt with each fighter within seconds of engaging them.

Yea well, they wanted to kill him that badly sooo...
For those that didn't read the books, Geralt was *very* sad that he killed all those people, and eventually (the one who sent them). So much so that he had to go to a temple of healing for a while to get it off his mind. The show kind of just glosses over this as if it was another day in the life of Geralt.
Never gonna read the books bc the writer is a POS but damn, L.

I get your point. Unfortunate that the director doesn't have respect for this.
Yes, I remember that. It was sad. Geralt is constantly fighting a battle with himself.

Just beautiful. Henry Cavil just became Geralt of Rivia right here.

That's because he *wanted* to do this show very much. He almost went out of his way to audition for the role.
He's played all the games and read all the books. This was a passion project for him.
Rain Exactly why he was the man for the job. Period.
I understand that it's idiotic screenplay, directors, writers and so on blame for the most part, but Henry didn't help one bit with the situation. Completely missed Geralt's character and acted poorly. The role did't suit him one bit (not even physically).
