I believe there is a DMC shop in California. Although, any car from any DMC place can be shipped, but due to COVID, I'm not sure what they are doing now.
I worked on restoring a 1st generation VCR from the late 70's. Those VHS top loading VCR's had a little light bulb that lit up the compartment where the tape goes. So you can see how much tape you have left. That little light bulb doubles as the main fuse for the enitre VCR. Found that out the hard way.
This looks like a simple fix. Take the plastic off, scan it to get the trace patterns, send off the files to a circuit board manufacturer like pcbway. Would probably be 3 circuit boards connected with ribbon cables.
Delorean, not one of the best cars , I never understood why they used it in the movie .But I thankyou for posting fascinating. They could have used the Scorpion which was a kit set sexy futurestic car at the time, and far more reliable and very easy to put together and has some pick up . Great video 👍
So if 1 light doesnt work it brakes the elelctrical circle? and your delorean dies? that's a great way of wiring your car. I did hear some frustration in your voice Bob, great the job that you fixed it.
They should make some heavy duty replacement PCB for that flimsy piece of film...oh well...and then the video comes to the point where there is a replacement. Lol :D
A bulb wired in series disabling the alternator from charge?!? That's fe'd up engineering... That is some primitive, cheap circuit routing technology right there. Why they didn't go the route of a circuit board rather than that crappy plastic with traces laminated into it is beyond me! I know what you mean about not being able to replace all the lights with LEDs. I had the same issue. When I had my old 97 Honda Accord, I tore the dash out and replaced as many bulbs I could with LEDS. For the most part it worked. One issue though... The check engine light lit up. I thought I had a problem, so I brought it into Pepboys to read engine codes and it turned out everything was fine. It was discovered that the LED used in place of the check engine bulb had the wrong resistance so it would light up the check engine light regardless. Having to remove the center console to get to the dash and then rip out the gauge cluster again, sucked. Ultimately I put the bulb back in the check engine socket and all was fine. Months later though, some LEDS started to flicker.... they was going bad... I said F-ME.... and just left them in the dash.
Hey Bob 👋 Why don’t you solder leads directly to the back of the board at the endpoint, pin it out and then solder the leads to the wiring loom, get rid of those damn copper printer crap? I’ve seen you with a soldering iron and know you’re awesome with one
Starting to see a lot of those flimsy circuit boards from the 80's failing. Reproductions are available for some cars like the DeLorean are available, need one for my Fiero.

I wish all UA-cam content creators followed what you do w/your intro. Short and sweet. I don't have to try to click ahead to skip it.
I need a Delorean in my life, have one for sale?? I’m actually legit looking into one, I’m also from Vegas, love your work

Hey it's the little "quirks and features" that make owning cars like this exciting! lol
Interesting video.
Big fan! I hope you are enjoying the new house it looks great.
Who knew a 161 bulb was what makes time travel possible? 😂🤣
Thank you for sharing, I've always wanted to know how the dash worked.
After watching Bob's videos for a few years, I am always left with the impression that he has a love-hate relationship with Deloreans.
He hates the car, but loves the money.
After all, he is a business man!
Just kidding.
I think he loves both 😁

Great vid Bob! Thanks for sharing. 👍
Hey I also live in Vegas can’t wait to meet up
A great veiw Bob, Appreciate it!
"Prince of Darkness. Don't leave home after dark. You might not make it home" .. ha ha, best description of Lucas electricals :)
Doc Brown : A 161 Plugin Bulb Is What Make's Recharge Possible.
You can actually use LEDs for all of the lights except the battery light. This is what I have :)

We hope to hear about the scammer in Vegas and the follow up. That will be must see tv.
cool
Are you not able to retrofit a GM alternator onto the Deloreon and charge wire directly to the positive terminal of the battery ?
What's the top speed of a stock DeLorean? Can't have been that much more than 85 unless going downhill?

Just like the older Jaguars! I get so frustrsted, I walk away & come back later!!!!!!!!!
Why couldn't you run a relay that is hooked to keyed power that kicks on and runs 12volts directly from the battery to the alternator?

I'm going to buy a delorean time machine from bob
