I hope i recall these details correctly, but if you wanna find out a bit more about these traditions of Albanians, I suggest reading Edith Durrham's book on north Albanian culture. Her Book is really one of a kind, as she lived amongst Albanian families in the northern part. It's free you can find it online, easy to read and divided in different sections, so you can jump to parts that are more Interesting. She was from the UK and from a noble family, who had lived in different parts of Balkans and wrote books about each culture. I believe it takes place in the late 19th century. Anyways, one the greatest prioroities in the Albanian code of conduct was to avoid blood shed. This is easly understood because we were under Turkish, Greek, Serbian, Makedonian and Montenegrian attack, all under the same time. So every Albanian haed was fundemental in saving our lands. So, kanun was a law book so to say but there courts as well. Also in the core of kanun is Christianity, you will quicly learn that as its filled with info about churches and stuff. Finally, the 'author' of the Kanun (code of conduct) Leke Dugaxhini (xh =j) stems from about somewhere of north Albania.

One of the leaders of the gangs stopped two brothers on the street and asked them which of them should live, so he told them to discuss and agree, and that's what happened.
