    Hi miss, why do "disease diagnosis occur by testing for the presence of specific pathogen antibodies in the blood" instead of testing for antigens?

    hello:) , at 2:06 under natural immunity it says creation of the bodies own antibodies, is that only possible from plasma cells directly or can antibodies magically appear from somewhere other than plasma cells?

    How does passive immunity work - what is the point if there are no memory cells? Also, is herd immunity a type of this?

    when talking about how vaccination leads to immunity, do you not have to mention the role of helper T cells?

      Hello,
      it would depend the exact emphasis and number of marks on the exam question. They key focus is the production of memory cells so that when reinfected many antibodies are produced rapidly, but t-helper cells could help initiate this response when reinfected.

      @@MissEstruchBiology so can antigens alone activate b cells to go through clonal selection ? Also if the question required you to mention t helper cells would you still talk about endocytosis and it becoming an apc? sorry I know this is a long question.

    Hi Miss, your slide says that A pathogen doesn’t enter the body so plasma cells are memory cells are not made, so if no pathogen enters what is the need for antibodies?

    • @jesscoombs2176
      @jesscoombs2176 2 роки тому +2

      if you are talking about in passive i think that antibodies can be used as a short term treatment, she mentions treating toxin of a snake bite where someone needs to attack it very quickly but as the antibodies are not made by the person the body wont be able to produce the memory cells. hope this is right its what I thought she was saying

    • @MissEstruchBiology
      @MissEstruchBiology  Рік тому

      it's due to the time it takes to to find B cells that can make the complementary shaped antibodies
