Them missing a core game mechanic (the sanity notepad) and like, 50% of the gameplay while they barrel towards the bad ending is a pattern I both hope and expect to see repeated many times to come.
I played this game after this show, and now it kills me how they talk over half the jump scares and just ignore all the story elements that would make it so much easier to do.

@@ChiffonCoffin that's the default for response for getting the mark or the body wrong. it could have been the right body, but because he took the mark off, they get the bad ending
@@robjbob It's unlikely he got the correct body, he did almost nothing that you need to do to correctly identify the body, he literally just guessed. He would have needed to watch the bodies he was examining to see if they moved on their own while just laying there, and he would have needed to be rechecking bodies throughout the night to see if any more marks appeared on them. (bodies that move on their own are not always the correct one one, they can be a red herring. a body that moves on its own and receives additional marks throughout the night is a winner).
Idk how they actually game but it’s like watching two different styles of gaming. Shane seems like he knows how most games are and the tropes. Anytime Ryan’s confused Shane’s like “maybe do this” or “I think this” and it’s usually right. Ryan said he’s the CoD and multiplayer guy which usually means being good at aiming and moving. I’d like to see Ryan watch Shane play mirrors edge or something or even a multiplayer game. That’s how you stress out gamers like Shane. Add a single other human competitor and they’ll freak out. I am the Shane gamer lmao.

To be fair, the last body they worked with was the most active and even was talking. I think most people would have picked it. Even Insym who basically mastered this game still picks wrong from time to time.
this game seems actually scarier than most horror games, the random disembodied voices, the sudden appearance of demons looking actually terrifying and the whole place is creepy af
Just finished my first play, and can confirm the more subtle appearances are much scarier vs big happenings or hallucinations. The jump scares with the little people hiding in the corners and turning around to find stuff out of place are the worst parts.
I'm a mortician and I am so content watching these two play this game instead of playing it myself. I'm glad they get to perform perfect embalmings that take less than 5 minutes. I'm critiquing a whole bunch of things from the sidelines, but I'm having fun doing it. lmao

I’m loving this series so much!! constructive criticism for whoever is doing captions: instead of just putting “shane and ryan imitate demonic voices” it would be better to type out what they are actually saying, just with “in a demonic voice” in parentheses. that makes it more accessible to people who can’t hear and are relying on captions to get the same content that everyone else is getting. keep up the great work!

I know it's just part of the game, and suspension of disbelief is expected, but why would you leave a newbie alone to banish a demon with little guidance and just stay home and hope they pick the right body to burn with the right symbols.

FUN FACT: there are large-corporate level funeral homes that can prepare bodies in any way, for any specific religion (they’re almost like chains in a way). Service Corporation International is a large scale funeral home chain with over 2,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada. but smaller, family run funeral homes specific to religions (catholic, methodist, jewish, etc) also exist and are obviously mostly used for people who are very religious and want to be true to their religion/belief be buried in a religious way. like there’s many jewish laws to be followed if a proper jewish funeral were to be given and a small, jewish funeral home can do all of that. smaller religious funeral homes often work together with as many places of worship (within their religion ofc) near them as they can in order to maximize their client base.

i think this series is a great idea & i'd love it to be a mainstay, but mortuary assistant is definitely not a beginner-type indie horror game.
i'd recommend starting with sth more simple & accessible like baldi's basics or even FNAF1, before moving onto more adv stuff like puppet combo/chilla's art.
that being said i'd love to see them play the fears to fathom series, that seems very up their alley.
