See, its hard, because before kraken slayer had its crit removed, crit made a lot of sense, nowadays without crit on kraken, I just feel like on-hit is more consistent, but crit is still really good into squishy comps, especially if you have good tanks/initiators/brusier to tank the damage for you and you can act as an assasin of sorts, i'd try to sneak in a little immortal shieldbow and guardian angel, immortal shieldbow early that way you don't struggle too much in the early to mid game transition.
and as far and laning phase is concerned, I think runes are a bit more important than items, you can run fleet for insanely poke heavy matchups, boneplatting for those annoying irelia type of champions and etc, can't go over all of them on this comment but yeah, I should make a matchup tier list sometime down the line.

i started playing viego mid too but i struggle late game earmy and mid are good
Late game viego is tricky, depending on comp you might just need to split and look for flank angles, or use your mist to create picks.

Ur frames are overall stable i would check if same happens with smt/hyperthreading disabled
