I am seeing the newer ControlMySpa 59303 gateway device available online now. When looking at it vs the old 50350 (bwawifi) module beyond the range difference (without walls) is the old module could function locally without the cloud if your fairly remote without a stable internet connection. The bwawifi also has some API hooks for integration into SmartThings and the like vs the new one is 100% cloud-attached. For Dealers and Balboa the new version is nice due to all the diagnostic info from each tub being available to them but as a consumer I personally would rather not have it stored in the public cloud.
great stuff i thought mine was pre wired and connected it to the available that was also connected to J33 , but it shared that with the ozone box . I used the supplied connection tail to attach to J45 and run it through the cable clamp and super job now controlling it from my office and house will setup the cloud version later but this is mostly for home use. Very handy to check on things if away for a while
What is the difference between this device and the optional smart tub you can order with a new spa? I am ordering a Sundance 780 Hamilton on Tuesday morning.
Well, The system in the video is for Balboa BP systems and most likely Sundance will have their own type that's proprietary to them. Meaning; After your warranty most of the parts will cost you 5x more to replace than most tubs. Sundance aren't the only ones that have proprietary parts.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas My dealer says the Circuit board is manufactured by Balboa specifically for Sundance . So it is proprietary but balboa makes it?? Also you tube guy Atlana Hot Tubs also says Sundance uses balboa pack. ua-cam.com/video/PYhrS7Rxadc/v-deo.html
I have just installed the exact same module. When you had to move to j34 how did you know that j33 wasn't working? When I have the module connected to my router I have a solid green light but I am unable to connect at all as it's not recognized in the Wi-Fi list. Can you provide any help as to why this might be?
It's going to be J33 or 34. Just pick one. Make sure the light is on the module under the tub, then make sure the other part inside the house to close enough to the tub. Make sure it's synced
Where is the j45 dongle to connect to? I just installed my wifi adapter and it does have the j33 / J34 that looks like the one in the video. It does not seem to work. My phone did find the bluetooth connection but the app says the tub is offline. Is there a step I am missing. The dongle connected to the router is just flashing green. Please advise or send me a good number / contact to troubleshoot this. The local hot tube vender is clueless.
On the back of the spa pack there should have all the info you need. Should say wifi over to the right. Not all Balboa spa packs have this hook up. The flashing green means its just searching for the tub. Do you have the same spa pack as in the video? Do you have the same wifi system as in the video? How far is the tub to the router in the house?
@@rodgermauch9522 the plug that the topside is plugged into there's another plug connected to that inside the spa pack. Plug the module into that spot.
My J45 terminal has a ribbon connector already connected to it. My J33 is the existing control panel. I want to control it off my phone is this possible?
why would you recommend this one as better over the 50350 model? Is it harder to install, or have less features? I don't have spare plugs on my router so would like to avoid needing a satellite controller
Its all about distance.. the 50350 is good from 65-100 ft. and the one shown is good up to around 300ft. The 50350 has a better looking app, but both do the same thing. If your hot tub is beside the house and your router is right there....go with the 50350
Thought I had a big brain idea to make me rich but no ruined it I was thinking of making a hot tub u can control with ur phone like turn it on off turn on the bubbles lights heater but no life ruined my plan I’m sad now what about a robot chicken might work
Very helpful video. When your spa-side controller was at first connected to J33, did it not work at all or was there some inconsistent functionality? Since there is functionality, could changing to J45 make any difference?
You could and should work on both. They are in line, so yes it would work. If it's inconsistent it would mean that the router in the house is too far away or there's more then one wall. I find they work best within 100 feet and only one wall in between. Could also be an Internet issue.
Depends on the year. Most Beachcomber tubs today use the spa pack in this video. Look at your spa pack and see if you have the wifi hookup for it. Should say on the green circuit board on the right side if it does.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas I got I quick question for you. My control my spa device was working. Then I moved a few things on my router. Now the home unit is not connecting to the internet. Just flashing a green light. Any idea?
@@dannystarborne9021 I'm sure you already tried resetting it? Did you move the router away from where it was? If you did, how many walls in between the tub and router? I think the green flashing like means it's searching.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas O.K. Problem solved . The problem was my home router. Once I replaced it everything was working again. Flashing green means no internet connection.
The BP has 2 systems for monitoring the water temp and controlling the jets and everything else. The first one is spasaunadirect.com/50350-06-balboa-wifi-module-remote.html The other (the better one) in the video, I can only get at my supplier. None online. The other one are not available on Amazon right now. If your in the States, try calling Balboa direct. If your is Canada, i could try and get one for you.
ONLY the Balboa BP series systems.

Hot Tubs are an investment and its good to have that system hooked up to keep an eye on things.
can you send a picture of the the pigtail you used. I cannot find any beside the J33.
