- In Episode 131 of the podcast, we’re joined by Chad Benekos, founding member and original rhythm guitarist of the band (hed) p.e., to talk 25 years of the band’s debut self-titled album.
This album was a genre-bending masterpiece, which took so many different styles of music and melded them together beautifully. Chad gives us insight into how the band grew into that sound, signing with Jive Records and the record company giving them the freedom to do what they do, as well as many other stories surrounding this time for him and the band. This conversation was 2.5 years in the making for us, and is can’t miss.

This is a great insightful interview guys!! i started seeing them all over OC IE & Hollywood couple of years before the self titled came out. Cool to hear Chad's point of view of the days of early HED days! The EP Church of Realities is a must if you like the self titled. I know understand why he moved on from the band. Respect to him!
Chad was awesome - we had such a blast talking with him about the old HED days. Thanks for checking it out!
bro that album i had to ask for an uncle to bring from the US to mexcico city, they didnt even sold it here back in ´98 Cause i saw Ground video but honsestly till this day thats not my fav song but man when i heard ken 2012 or 33 it was like a dream come true really! like this guys are doiung everything i was related to like reggae trip hop everything, it took me about 15 years to meet another friend who knew about hed pe it was like a treasure for me same as Stuck Mojo. If you where fucking with Rap and Metal Hed PE was everything i could ask for psychedelic funky trippy craziest guys , very unique sound. Plus i started as metal Dj in ´99 so there was very fiew bands i could hear from and get inspired
Awesome interview guys. My first live show was ‘97 Hed Pe and ST at the barn in Orange County, CA. Time flies 🤘🏼
