People keep thinking Daigo is washed out and an old man and blah blah blah blah blah. They expect him to win no matter what. This is not true with Daigo himself. I am quite older than him but I have been watching him for a long time, and I am observing even now, and he is still, 30+ years later, stringing together combos and doing things nobody else does, in situations in which nobody else seems to be inclined to do such things. The problem is people expect him to win, and he is not interested in that any more. A true master does not seek to win or achieve a milestone in any vocation. Rather he seeks continuous improvement for eternity, to the point where he strives to find the limit of his skills. But to be a true master you also need to love said vocation, and this is a monumental challenge for the true master, as winning at all costs becomes a boring, tedious, and uninteresting exercise. And you can see all of this in Daigo's gameplay and what he says and does online.
Bruh, I've been saying various things along the same lines for a long time. Why do people hate on him so much? He is still one of the very best SF players in history and this day and age.
