i remember standing out in the rain listening to monroe play this tune, with just a bass as backup. nobody else on stage. there wasnt a sound from the audience; nobody coughed; nobody sneezed, nobody even moved. the feeling there was like a religious / emotional experience. eerie and overpowering. this felt the same.
Favorite, favorite mandolin person going back to Mr. Monroe and coming forward to Skaggs, Bush, Thille. The others are too professional, she has just the right touch, for lack of better words.
Good description... the too professional part. Has to retain that same " spookiness " .. feeling ? again for lack of a better word.. Bill wasn't know for being technically perfect but the audiences certainly got the message..
She must have cross tuned her mandolin like Bill did when he recorded this. If you don't know this and you try to play along it will drive you crazy when it doesn't sound like his version....
Yes... The 2 G strings are tuned up to G# .....The 2 Ds are tuned down to C#.... The top A string is tuned to G# ...the Bottom A is tuned to B...The top E is tuned to C# ... and the bottom E is left E... In case you want to learn tje song
Beautifully done and true to the original Bill Monroe recording
Young lady, your beautiful rendition of this Bill Monroe classic has brought an old man to tears.Thank you.
Her tone on the Buckeye or the Gibson has always been one of the best I've ever heard.
Beautiful!
Nailed it 👏🔥

Hell looks like you’d had enough sense to get out of the rain ☔️
Same feeling I got when I heard it.... also heard Marty Stuart's version and Ricky Skaggs's as well...
BILL likely would have said, "sounds just like me". No greater compliment possible!
Sounds just like Bill great job.
How does she channel bill like that. Close your eyes and that’s Monroe.
