      I didn't know it was a single, either; I liked it when I first heard it, but I can barely tolerate it now; it sounds like the Chipmunks. The Flintstones jumped the shark with the introduction of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm, and seriously dropped in the ratings after that.

I wonder how they did the Pitch Change back in the 60s as Digital Recording really didn't exist back then

      They simply recorded it at 33.3 rpm and played it back at 45. The same way they made Alvin & the Chipmunks recordings. It pitches up 2.5 steps so if you record it in C it'll playback in F

      @seethe42 8 місяців тому

      @@pjimmbojimmbo1990 I was speaking to how it was recorded using analog techniques. It WAS pitch shifted by recording it at 33.3 and playing at 45. That's just simple fact. The original was recorded at a lower pitch and speed. Your software pitch shifted, a full octave if it retained the same time and pitch. You stated that you dropped pitch by 3 steps then said the pitch was the same, so which was it?

    • @seethe42
      @seethe42 8 місяців тому

      @@pjimmbojimmbo1990 Because your software changed the pitch. What don't you understand? The original recording WAS longer when played at it's recording speed. You set the parameter changes in the software. That has NOTHING to do with how the effect was created without any computers or digital devices needed. The music HAD to change pitch or it would have been out of tune. They recorded the song at 33 then pressed the record on a 45 single, so it was played at 45. So everyone heard the sped up version. Play it at 33 and you will hear what it sounded like when they recorded it.

      I don't own the 45. This was a long-ago Usenet download simply labelled as 'mono,' but with no specific source mention. I see two visual 45 transfers elsewhere on UA-cam which sound (to my ears) similar to this one: ua-cam.com/video/RN1R2FOW1UQ/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/1KFFXPHnJ0s/v-deo.html
      However, I also see another mono posting purported to be a clip from the actual TV show which does have the more upfront vocal (as does the stereo version I listened to).

      You might find it on a Rhino Records CD release from the 1990's when they acquired the H-B musical library from Ted Turner. They issued a few H-B related CD's that feature some (if not all) of the old HBR tracks. The HBR library is now owned by Warner Brothers studios, except for certain tracks (such as The 5 Americans "I See The Light", The Tidal Waves' "Farmer John", and The Unrelated Segments "The Story Of My Life". Those songs are now owned by SVR and Sundazed Records respectively.)

      Yes, it definitely does exist as a 45 from 1965 (as HBR #449.) It was HBR's ninth release on a 45. It didn't chart as a hit record, which is why you don't hear it on oldies radio or streaming. It was sold as a children's record. "Roses & Rainbows" by Danny Hutton was HBR's first chart hit on Billboard.

    • @robertorick6383

      Many kids were scared of this song used as brief closing credits at the end of some flintstones' 1965-1966 episodes just so they could hide from the newly unveiled Screen Gems "S From Hell" logo that concluded the episodes that season starting on September 13, 1965. (except for Canada, who still had the dancing sticks logo for another year.) As for me, I always thought this song was innocent & charming, and it probably involved pre-3 Dog Night Danny Hutton (on guitar) who had a number of songs made for HBR Records at the time, including three of his own (two issued under his real name, and one issued as a duo group with co-songwriter Larry Goldberg under the name of "The Bats".) Songwriter Stuart Hamblen switched from secular music ("I Won't Go Huntin' With You Jake" was an early career song) to Sacred Gospel & Christian Hymns in 1949, which later inspired this song.

      @@robertorick6383 Did you ever see the Family Guy episode where the S from Hell gives Peter a heart attack?😮 funny but OMG. They used that logo at the end of The Monkees show too and i used to plug my ears and turn away when i knew it was coming. But I'm autism spectrum so i thought it was just me who hated it. Apparently everyone else did too, and there are other bad scary logos that have been around for years as well. Rankin-Bass was another one I hated....there are so many.

    • @robertorick6383
      @robertorick6383 2 роки тому +1

      @@monkeytennis7477 I saw that "Family Guy" gag on UA-cam. I think it's a fan made gag rather than an actual "Family Guy" joke segment. Quentin Tarrentino is another fan of the "S From Hell" and used it as a scare/suspicion scene on "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood". Rodney Arscher's short 2011 documentary about Screen Gems is a farce done satirically about the children being frightened by the logo. I'm sure when Eric Siday composed the jingle, it was just another serious job for him. It's been said on another blog that Winston Sharples composed another Screen Gems "S" jingle (known to fans as the "Batfink" variant.) Frank DeVol composed the dancing sticks logo, and that one actually made me slightly nervous as a toddler rather than the "S From Hell", believe it or not. It's something you have to get used to on TV. As an adult, both logos are classics. The "S From Hell" logo showed up in everything from "The Partridge Family" to "Here Comes The Brides", and I got used to it. I must have seen it a thousand times since discovering TV as a toddler since 1968. One of the more ridiculous shows that I saw the "S" in was a flop on ABC called "The Ugliest Girl In Town" starring Peter Kasner as a quasi-Tiny Tim like cross-dressed model named "Timmie". I have bi-polar, not autism, but logos are so common on TV & the movies that they are more fascinating than scary. The Rankin-Bass logo from 1968-1982 was heartwarming to me, there was absolutely nothing scary about it. Every time I saw "A Year Without Santa Claus" or "Frosty The Snowman", I always expect it to be at the end of the credits, even when Warner Brothers or Classic Media plasters it (logo plasters bug me. It just symbolizes a change in media ownership by different corporations. For example, I do miss Screen Gems logos at the end of many Hanna-Barbera shows. Somehow, having the Warner Brothers "W-B" shield ending "The Flintstones" after Fred yells "Willlllmmmmaaaa!" doesn't seem the same after what I have grown up with since the 1960's.)
