    Always love your videos. Don't see many APS-C videos on sport shooting. Trying to get into more mountain bike shooting of photos and video. Would love to see a comparison of this one and the Sony 70-350 once you go back to shooting sports. I know the other has a much larger range, but would be curious if the range on the Tamron is enough. Keep putting out great stuff. Good to see you posting again.

      would be great if you could answer this @that1cameraguy . I will be shooting youth soccer, and trying to decide between these two lenses on the a6700. On one hand, worried 180mm even with the crop is not long enough, on the other hand, the Sony not being bright enough if the light is not good enough.

    I have the Sony F4 70-200 and use it all the time with my A6400. Works very well and I don't really miss the F2.8 as I shoot outside most of the time I picked up mine used for around $900 and it looked like it had never been used. If the Tamron had been out at the time it would have been a toss up between the F4 Sony or the Tamron

      @@franciscruz8911 remember on apsc sensor this 70-180 turns into a 105-270.... I much rather recommend you the sigma 56mm f/1.4. that lens is only $400 compared to $1200 for the tamron. That sigma lens is awesome and is a portrait lens primarily. It's equivalent to the 85mm look. 👍 Check out the review videos on youtube

    Did you have any problems about the fact that the Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 has no image stabilization and also the Sony A6000 doesn't have in body image stabilization? I mean, don't get me wrong, I get it. It's rough to not have any image stabilization at all and use a 100-120mm+ lens. You gotta increase the shutter speed and etc. But, is it unusable? Or?

    The biggest question with this lens is how well it works with the IBIS. How slow can you reliable shoot at 180 which will be 270 on a cropped body or with super 35mm on something like at the A7RIV

    When I first heard that Tamron should release a 70-180 I planed to buy it in case I upgraded to full frame. It took a long time so in the meantime I bought the Sony 70-350. It is defenitely not fast and I don't use tele lenses very often. But it's fun to have a lens that zoom in to equal 500 mm.

    I have an a6000 so wonder if it would be a problem that there is no stabilisation in the Tamron. I have the Sony E 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS and its a great lens for the APS-C a6xxx series.

    • @skuggie7939

      @@renzbu1 So I have the A6400 and ended up buying it. I personally have to make up for the lack of OSS by not shooting any lower then 1/200 ish to be sure to prevent motion blur. Talking about handheld shooting ofcourse. For filming...I don't really recommend it if you really wanna make proper videos, unless you have some good set up that will keep it steady? I don't film so idk how that works. All in all, would I recommend? In my opinion, the no OSS is the biggest difference/downside to the Tamron 70-180 f2.8 and the sony 70-200 f2.8 OSS, with generally about a 1000 euros difference between the two. I got my Tamron cheaper for 900, even. Since I don't film, it would not have been worth it to spend that much extra. Beaides, the Tamron 70-180 is a whoooooole lot lighter and smaller then the Sony 70-200 while not really compromising on the quality, as far as I can tell as an...enthousiastic amateur. So I would definitely recommend it.

    I wanna get this straight. Does Crop Sensors affect the aperture? Is it true if I shoot the 70-200gm 2.8 on my a6600 I’ll actually be shooting an aperture of around f4?

    • @lancevance2102
      @lancevance2102 4 роки тому

      If u are comparing it to a full frame, then yes, the bokeh on f2.8 apsc is similar to f4 ff, and this apply on all lens on apsc when comparing to ff

    • @wayne_right
      @wayne_right 3 роки тому

      Correct, thats what a lot of people don't understand about crop factor. The depth of field (Amount of blur) would not look like a f/2.8 on FF, but more like f/4.2. So a 50mm f/1.4 or f/1.2 full frame lens does not even have an equivalent in APSC. Which is why bokeh and depth of field snobs shoot full frame.

    • @networm64
      @networm64 3 роки тому +1

      Generally the answer is no! Cause it will give you same amount of light, means you still get T2.8. But yes depth of field will be different. BUT it is like having a 105-270mm F 4 on fullframe. So depth of field also will look the same! 180 f2.8 turns to 270 f4!

    I'm still waiting for that "in the field" test on a Sony APS-C body... I think it's a very good option if you plan to do some sport with a lens similar to the 70-200mm in Full-Frame... another option it could be the sigma 50-100 f1.8 with the mc-11 adapter, but you already did that test with acceptable results but not good enough ua-cam.com/video/_N5EbCYXiwA/v-deo.html
    Are you still planning to do the test? Maybe with that test of yours I decide to buy for my APS-C 😉👍🏼 Thanks

    These mirrorless lens prices are completely ridiculous, regardless of whether they are crop or full-frame or for an amateur or pro. There is absolutely NO JUSTIFICATION for such high prices. These lenses do not cost $800+ dollars to manufacture per copy. I'd be surprised if the unit cost was half that.

    Sony's engineering philosophy was to create small, compact, photography. Thus, mirrorless, tiny, sleek camera bodies and compact lenses. To mount enormous lenses on this tiny camera body defeats the Sony purpose of creating comfortable to carry/sleek camera bodies and lenses. Instead, consider the much newer (released 8/19), smaller, lighter, longer zoom lens made specifically for the Sony A6--- cameras: the Sony G 70-350mm. The 70-350 has image stabilization, zoom lock, auto/manual focusing, and is tied to the auto/eye focus system. The lens can be bought for $900 on Amazon. If you haven't considered this lens just go to the many reviews that almost universally rave about its performance.
