That’s true, the actors really brings the characters and the story to life
Very good underrated show. The first time i felt as disturbed as i did, mostly because it brought back some memories about me being "paralyzed" and unable to move while being inappropriately touched
Idk why the brain does this, why didnt it let me run or just punch the guy? 🤷♂️
Well that's evolutionary psychology plus trauma. It is not something you can control because it comes from the primitive part of the brain and basically shuts down any rational thinking part. That's why people freeze when they are abused, that's why people stay in toxic relationships when they have all the reasons to just leave, etc.
The actor who plays Donnie is who this happened to. It REALLY gets dark
yeah I am learning more about them as I have finished the show now, it's pretty dark yeah
The biggest unanswered question has to be why was Martha crying when she entered the pub?... Had she just been ejected from someone else's life? Hence why she latched on to Donnie so quickly? Like a rapid replacement... Creepy thought.
It would seem so, she has a history of this. Judging from the state of her place of residence I think life didn’t exactly go as she planned and perhaps in that moment a realization creeped into her mind about it all and then as she saw Donny, it all went away and just like that the cycle restarted? Maybe.
i think she had intentions before she came into the pub. she knew she would catch someone’s attention and decided the one place for someone noticing you being sad is a very lively situation/place. remember, she’s been here NUMEROUS times before. that’s why her “sad” facade disappeared the moment he showed an act of kindness, her plan worked.

I wish there were more conversations about men being in abusive relationships, or in stalking situations like this.
It's never okay, and no one deserves it. I hope that this show causes conversations to be had ❤️
