The problem is, it is getting harder to find appropriate clothing. When I said something once about women not dressing appropriately on a Catholic video, viewers attacked me and said I was gay! People go to Mass like they are going to the beach. How it must hurt Our Lord! It reminds me of the story in the Gospel when the one guest, invited to a King's feast, came inappropriately dressed and was cast out into the darkness. Our Lady of Good Success also complained of the way women would dress.
I've heard the same old tired excuse from other women, "Stores don't have enough 'modest' clothing, so I buy what I can!" I admit that modest clothing isn't on every rack -- however, it *is* still possible. My wardrobe is nothing but modest clothing. I know a few other women who only dress modestly. Another problem (even at the TLM church I go to) is that women don't care, so other women think, "Well, if the others can get away with it, then I can too!" Plus, our parish priest is a.... wimp... when it comes to talking about modestly. A LOT of women defend immodest clothing as if their lives depended on it...
@Mike Harper Exactly. The new "Mass" or more accurately "Mess" is an abomination along with Vatican 11 and I see from the comments against modesty and wearing the veil that it's mission is accomplished. Pax.
Modesty also pertains to men. Collared shirts and long trousers should be the norm for men at Mass. I certainly don't like looking at men is T-shirts, with their hairy legs sticking out of shorts and flip flops.
@@maxinemcclurd1288 : our town is a vacation spot as well. However, if people really respected the King of Kings, they would remember to pack the appropriate outfit for Mass.
You're right. And that which you described should be at a minimum. You don't present yourself before a judge in casual attire. If we do that for a judge, who is human and mortal like the rest of us, how much better should we present ourselves for our Lord!
My experience: about three years ago I stated wearing dresses and skirts only. I wanted my appearance to be feminine (and go alongside with long hair 😉 ) and express my idea of a modern woman and my protest against unification which I always found hard to accept. After a while I realized I acted differently, modesty in behaviorur followed without much thinkig. I would sit down differently, move differently and surprisingly.... felt better, more natural in my attire! Found my own style and held on to it despite my relatives' protests and fights. They called me a freak, now they don't (they even appreciate my taste in clothes and often say I look nice). What are my dresses and skirts like? They are never slim or tight, They usually reach my knees or are just above, some of them are longer (but never reach my ancles). My back is always covered and I try to have my shoulders covered as well. I make my decolletage not to reveal anything - so usually it's like 2-5/8 cm under the collarbone or even above the collarbone. And it's not like I wear ugly clothes. They are all pretty, colourfull, soft to touch, comfortable and you can easily make new combinations which is so awesome when you want to look differently but don't want to spend fortune on clothes. Of course there are some occasions when I wear trousers, usually when I'm biking, walking in the woods or fields with my dog or gardening. These are exeptions from the rule. My family, friends, coworkers, pupils and people in the street would see me only in dresses or skirts. People always ask me why do I do that. I say I feel better, more feminine and more comfortable that way. I can remeber my friend telling me she finds her femininity is more highlited when she wears super slim, tight jeans and can show how "sexy" she is. I think that I don't want to look "sexy" if that means that I should expose all I've got/ Womanhood is not in being "sexy" but in being aware of yourself and being able to express your God given beauty without revealing your body. If I had a husband I would like to give my body to him not to everybody I knew. Intrestingly enough as a single young woman I don't see men laughing at or ignoring me - other way round they are fascinated, react positively and treat me with respect 😊 I think that my style helps men as well.
I grew my hair out at age 55 to be more feminine. I had short male like cut for a long time. I love my long hair. I need to find dresses that fit me though.
@@mrsandmom5947 I know what you mean! Finding dresses that fit a particular figure and are modest and pretty is a big problem nowadays. Suitable clothes aren't exposed on the shelves and window stalls. In my experience: sometimes it takes like 8 times going shopping before you'll find something decent. Sometimes it takes you make some improvements in the clothes you have. For example: last year I found a beautiful green dress that was long enaugh and was perfect to go everywhere. It was cut low though and I had to take some of the belt material to put it under my collarbone... I remember starting my new style in clothing. It was winter and I had like two warm skirts only! Then I bought two more and tried to match it with shirts I had. It wasn't easy but I stood firm in my resolution and eventually managed to buy more suitable dresses and skirts. I feel good about it. I think the secret of me feeling great in skirts and dresses is that: God made me a woman and this way of clothing helps me express myself better. Because God wants me to be a woman (= live like a woman, look like a woman, act like a woman...). Not a feminist angry looking woman. Not a tomboy.
Steph Guz Good, I absolutely do not judge others either based on that. I treat a homeless woman wearing rags the same as a hotty-totty socialite woman. Also as for women who do dress immodesty the most you can do is just feel sorry for them. Heck I feel sorry for myself when I used to dress that way and still from time to time do. I mean I don’t do it for attention but I wear shorts just because it’s hot and also to the fitness center. It’s just so commonplace now. But yes, no one knows the heart beneath the attire.
It is not a hard thing Father. It is a thing that MUST be done. MAKE YOUR OWN CLOTHES!!!!!!!!!!! Learn to sew again. Get sewing machines and take lessons if you don't how to sew. Let's take back modesty and make pretty, modest clothes for ourselves and for our men and children. As soon as my own clothes are made I shall dispose of all that is not modest. As it is, I don't wear them anymore anyway.
Its so true and you can tell that society programs women to dress like men. So few options for wearing dresses and skirts (at least decent modesty pretty ones). If they do sell them they are too short, tight and scanty). But that’s what makes women genuine too, the fact that out of conviction they sew and make their own clothes that reflect true pure beauty and elegance. So much of today’s approach is the vanity of wearing a name brand to feel part of society or reaching a status. For a true a Catholic, who cares about name brands! If they don’t make decent clothes, buy cheaper unknown brands that are just as good a quality anyway. A+ for those who live by their Christian faith and wear clothes that symbolise who they really are and should be and inspire others!
We had 2 pre teen girls very pretty ..tall and tan..wearing short shorts in mass. The mother was not much better. We have to remember not to temp anyone. Keep yourself covered.
@FredrikA Yes 2 about 11 yro girls. Granted they were pretty girls. But have not been taught how to dress at all. A pretty knee length dress would have been so much better.
@@mrsandmom5947 : it's worse when the girls are older and the Mom dresses the same way. But nothing beat the 'extraordinary minister' who was wearing sleeveless all white, skin-tight dress, showing cleavage and waaay above the knee!! (gasp and heart-stopping moment!!)
@@paisley293 Yes I've seen this too.And women readers with spaghetti strap dresses so tight they are "butt sprung'in southern speak that means the skirt retains the shape of the derriere after taken off.I focus on the crucifix and try not to allow myself to judge,my poor son told me at one Mass that he couldn't keep his mind on the homily due to two teen girls dressed in this fashion in front of us and he is in his 30s. One older visiting Irish priest let it fly about dressing as in the presence of Christ due to a woman in a terry cloth beach cover up in the front row! I wish the younger priests would step up on this subject.
But isn't it a worse problem, really? Like, at Easter, there was not one bonnet, not one dress, casual clothing all around. Sportswear. My Mom would have been appalled. I think that the cost of clothing today as with the home budget, is very expensive. People cant afford dresses today! Dresses call for shoes, bags, stockings, etc....
Most women are very unaware of how immodest they dress. I was unaware until (while reading certain spiritual material) these guidelines seemed overwhelming to me (mostly because of how hard it is to find decent clothing, and the expensive of getting all new clothes.) God quickly answered my prayers and I discovered that going exclusively to thrift stores for clothes was the best, cheapest, and easiest way to meet these standards. I dress more feminine and much more modest and not at all frumpy. In fact since I made these changes, I have gotten so many compliments (even by secular young people my age) on my clothing which never happened to me before. Go to the thrift stores consistently and you'll be able to fix your whole wardrobe, and it will be fun too! (I read the book he recommended)
Even though I wear pants in winter, under a long coat, after listening to this talk, I resolve with the help of God, to wear skirts all the time, in reparation to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary for the sins of transgenderism and all the 'isms' of our day.
Long underwear was once worn by both genders in winter. Women used to even wear flannel bloomers under skirts. The Amish and Mennonites still do. I am going to find it difficult to give up pants but I aim to as I am losing weight and will gradually need to replace things that no longer fit me anyways. I think wearing leggings under skirts in winter is what I will do.
@@juliettezea9507 : you have a point. I remember working in a textile factory where, if I wore a skirt, it would likely have gotten tangled up the machinery, as well as restricted me from climbing.
I was on vacation in Croatia and a priest denied Eucharist for those who came not properly dressed (shorter then knees, revealed shoulders, cleavage...) I wish more priests are like that, demanding what is proper for going to mass.
I dress modestly. No sleeveless, no leggings or dresses above 2 to 3 inches below the knee, nothing showing on chest etc but it's a bad analogy to talk about Muslim dress. Some cover their entire faces and they veil all the time not just for faith services. They have an extremely abnormal view of women in general. Their men are perverts also. Bad analogy. A little girl shouldn't be veiled at all except in Mass or adoration
@Henry Stoneking try again! They cover women as if they're dirty! Veiling little girls as if they're tempting men. Maybe you think it's ok to act as if women should be wearing head to toe blankets but 99% think it's shameful
I was on a pilgrimage to Zaragoza Spain Cathedral about six years back and a young man was trying to get his girlfriend to go inside the Church with him, she was dressed immodestly and she kept telling him "no, no no". She at least had the sense not to go into the Cathedral. I love Spain.
Feminine immodesty it is getting stronger these days... it's so hard to attend Holy Mass on Sundays because if the weather is hot you can see miniskirts, yoga pants, and cleavage, it's like being at a softcore teen movie of the 80s... It is unbelievable, the priest doesn't say a word about it.
I absolutely agree that immodesty is rampant, however this cuts both ways in that men and boys too must observe modesty. There is no call for appearing shirtless in public, for instance, nor is there any excuse for trousers to be "form-fitting".
Why are you assuming both that I’m female and that I currently don’t follow this? As to the proportion of men and boys wearing trousers (and shorts and bathing suits, etc.) that are too tight, I’d say they’re about equal with the women in immodest attire. We only notice it more with women as they have been targeted more often. The real problem lies in the reality that women feel a false sense of competition with other women in the area of what they’ve been (falsely) told is femininity. They’ve been further told that unless they conform to certain physical standards, they’re simply not going to be appealing to men. Men have been (again, falsely) taught to think that they should only find women with certain physical traits attractive. Both genders need to understand that their appearance, whatever it may be, is precisely as God made them, period, and that there need be no competition whatsoever for the affections or approval of the opposite gender.
Amen! Deo Gratias! God reward you Father!!! Finally!!! A priest preaching modesty!!! Everything you said IS true! I am grateful!!! Any woman who disagrees with this I ask you to pray a novena of Rosaries to the Blessed Virgin asking Her to dress you. If you pray with a humble heart and with good will you will be so happily surprised to know what She will tell you! God bless you!
I see so many nasty stuff people were to church. Some priests, do talk about dressing modest. I call them the brave priest. But the people should have respect when they go to church. One day out of the week. My Word.
I'm approaching 75 years. Brother St.André Bessette deplored -in 1935 -women's im- modesty of dress, behaviour, a bad example. What I'm hearing now, in your homily, needs to have been preached from every pulpit, at the very LATEST, by the early '70s! My apololgies for being "a Monday night quarterback". However, better late than never. Thanks for a clear and "finished" homily on this urgent state of public NON decorum! My wife and I pray the Chaplet of St.Michael daily -27 "Hail Mary"s, 10 "Our Fathers" - for: Fr. Ripperger and all exercises, and for Priests like yourself who have been re- covering for "battered Catholics" the true teachings of the Church (on Faith and Morals) through Sensus Fidelium. Thanks again, and may the accumulated scales covering the "eyes of our understanding" fall away and reveal the CLEAR VISION of our Saviour's Love.
Yes. There’s no excuse regarding a hot day either. If the priest can where his chausable and vestments in Mass who are we to complain about wearing a dress with sleeves at elbow or men with collared shirt to wrist with tie? At the end of the day in Whose Presence are we in?
Ladies, if you want to know how to dress look up the Orthodox Jewish rules of modesty for women and check out some photos online of Orthodox women. These are the standards Father is talking about. I get mistaken for an Orthodox Jewish woman sometimes because, in addition to dressing this way, I also cover my head full-time as a private devotion. I can honestly say that I am treated more respectfully by both men and women when dressed this way and, as a married woman and mother, I don’t have to worry about drawing unwanted looks from men. Check out shops like Soft Surroundings for long skirts and loose, flowing tops. It can definitely be more challenging to find modest clothes, but I feel it’s worth the effort.
MJ D No, we’re not Jewish, but there’s nothing wrong with adopting another religion’s dress code if it behooves us. It’s skirts that cover the knees and tops that cover the elbows. It’s not a burka. Actuallly, it’s pretty similar to what Orthodox Christian ladies wear to Divine Liturgy and I’ll take that over some of the barely -there outfits I see at Mass on the regular.
Just transition to become a man, then no man will lust after you, and they will sure as hell respect you more for being a man (as long as they don't realize you're trans)
That is 100% right, if a woman dresses modestly she will be treated with respect. On the contrary, if a woman dresses immodestly she is putting herself in danger... many crazy men out here who don't care about taking advantage of women at the least opportunity... I'm so sorry to tell you that we are not living at Pooh Corner any more, although I wish it could be true.
This is one of the best if not the best talk on modesty. This is one of the biggest roots of our problems in society and this priest hit a home run about the issue. Some people are still gonna argue that immodest clothing is not sinful, but that is far from the truth. After all jesus, said nothing impure can enter the kingdom of heaven.
It is amazing how much better I feel just by dressing modestly and appropriately. I attend Latim mass on Sundays and just to be among people who dress according to their gender makes me feel so peaceful.
Thank you for this much needed talk. If we love God as we say we do, we will keep his commandments and certainly one of them is to strive for purity and chastity which results in the fruits of modesty and charity.
In our day Moslem women are leading the way for women in modest dress sense also and especially with their attire at the beach. I too of recent times wear at t shirt, long leggings and shorts (in other words well covered) at the beach! Could not imagine wearing bathers anymore
Very important to discuss feminine modesty but I tell you what, I live in the south and if you want to find beautiful, modest, reasonably priced dresses for women that are made of cotton, forget about it. You CAN find beautiful cotton dresses online but they're very expensive ... it's all this polyester and spandex, very thin material and usually not modest, in local stores. So Father, your talk is timely and important, but what about men? Many of them dress immodestly because they wear sexually suggestive t-shirts ... they have piercings. Their tattoos are exposed, some with naked women tattooed on their forearms, horrible haircuts with purple, pink or blue dyed hair; let's talk about the men too! What about how they dress?
@@Recusant_ How so? We dress modest out of love for God, not to show off. Same thing with veil also. I mentioned you, all sacred objects should be veiled, so dress modest way is same. Modesty shows dignity no matter what gender is. Men have to wear like men, women has to wear like women. If you say that's sin of pride, then I think you are the one who has that problem.
This is why I am spinning my own yarns from wool, cotton and linen from flax I grow myself. It is what has to be done now because you just can't find this material any more.
I wish you would say these things to all the churches. That would be a huge job. Even the blessed mother said, Not to wear pants, because it shows to much of the body. That's why we need to wear skirts, dress. I know it's hard to do. Believe me. I love pants....
Very very good !! What I have a problem with is constant emphasis on women. As you stated women did not wear pants way back in the day or biblical days for that matter but desire for other women or homosexuality in men has been around since Biblical days. Obviously women whether scantily dressed or not were not a factor in mens desire for other men or lust for women. Time to start addressing that is all I'm saying. Men have lusted throughout the bible. Women are just a portion of that. I am a Catholic but this needs to be addressed.
Modesty in dress must apply equally to men, some of whom apparently think that women don’t use their eyes as much as men. Both sexes use their eyes and can (and DO) arrive at equivalent thoughts.
I'm a technician and I work with machines.. not wearing slacks would not only be impractical, but dangerous. =_= ..i'll gladly wear dresses everyday, if you pray for me to find a way to support myself!
@Henry Stoneking Well, unfortunatelly not every woman has a chance to be a mother or a wife. You don't know this girl's story and still judge her so harshly. Do you think your comment is helpful for her?
@Henry Stoneking Thank you for your prayers ..i'll kindly accept them. But if I wasn't such a pant wearing machine fixing beast of a woman, that might've hurt my feelings. :) ..and i'm not a feminist by a long shot. I would like nothing more than to have a family, but as God would have it. It's not what he's blessed me with. He did however bless me with this Job though so..
@Henry Stoneking worst answer, you don't have any idea of her life and what her work means to her or how it might help her family in the future, if she has one. Nowadays, working is not only for men and many families would be in a worst situation if it was so.
The Holy Bible, 1 Timothy, 2:9... also that women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing, not with their hair braided, or with gold, pearls, or expensive clothing, but with good works, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God. Let a woman learn in silence with full submission”. (unquote). yet too many women dress so shamelessly and think they can get away with it. if you shameless women find it hard to dress, then go to a pagan place of worship & see if you can get away with it or the 40,000 manmade groups. DO NOT enter a Catholic Church for not only do you distract others with your shamelessness, are culpable for the sins men commit because of your immodesty but you are also answerable to God Most High and there is absolutely no getting away with it.
Yes, you can find clothes that are modest. There are some churches, that don't let you in, if you are not dressed decent. They have a dress code for everyone.
I've formulated the following "equation": clothing is to the body of the wearer as the opposite gender is to that wearer. So, for example, the photo of clothing worn by young Prince Philip and that worn by his young Queen Elizabeth, make a totally different "statement" and give a totally different example than a couple who've "caved in" to the styles of dress -or UN-dress -as promoted by Freemasonry.
I researched the quote from 1928 about corrupting women through dress... the citation is an echo chamber. I cannot find the supposed publication “international review of freemasonry, 1928” that it allegedly comes from. Anyone know where it comes from?
Mich Elle I looked through the book and did not see the quote within. Even if it were there, I refer to a direct source quote, not a book with the quote. The actual source of the alleged Freemason document where the quote initially comes from I cannot find.
I'm a fairly recent convert and am all for what's being said in this video -- with the exception of this bizarre set of comments about Freemasonry. I was a Mason several years ago and stopped being one before beginning the process of converting. I support the Church's teaching on Masonry. But this unsourced (made up?) quote and the comment about being "no better than a Mason" are uncalled for and just odd.
@@mamatlacuacha "Demonic" is probably a bit much, but I'm open to hear why you think so. However I'm really trying to keep the evidence limited to the actual teachings of the Catholic Church or a legit Masonic document.
at Mass last Sunday , the woman who did the readings . had such a short skirt on , when she bowed at the Alter everyone got to see her butt . I was not please at all that my 18 year old son was right there in the second pew . I was very happy after Mass when I said something to him about it. he told me he didnt see it cause he wasnt looking . but why would a middle aged woman wear such a thing to Mass in the first place . it's not our regular church , but we do go there now and then . I thought about saying something to Priest but then I thought surely he too can see how short it is ? why dont the Priest say anything about dress codes ? we had a Priest years ago who did , and even had it posted by the door going out of the church . people no longer wear their Sunday best to Church anymore either , why ?
@buldglvr Well, if we're being sensible, it is reasonable to think it okay for a woman to dress accordingly in order to stay warm under the kind of circumstance you're talking about, but for those who can do their best in their situation to dress in the most feminine way (by wearing modest dresses or blouses and skirts), perhaps they should do so, even if at times they don't want to (offer it up!).
@buldglvr I was born and raised in Western Canada and Alaskans have nothing on us as far as snow and cold and Catholic women for generations managed with skirts and dresses in my part of the world.
Padre Pio was once asked how he reacts when a beautiful woman walks into church. He responded “I wouldn’t know.” See Padre Pio had what is called “custody of the eyes, and of the mind.” Traditionalist should spend less time passing judgements on others and more time guarding their thoughts and minds especially from slander. Leave it up to the priests and those in authority to speak on these issues, focus on how you dress not on how anyone else dresses.
My understanding was, she was dressed revealing whether it be her top or her skirt, and that it had nothing to do with her wearing trousers. Where did you hear it was because she was wearing trousers?
@@linz8422, you're right - I was confusing two different episodes - the one I'm talking about is that a Canadian woman was denied absolution until she stopped selling women's trousers in her clothing shop. She couldn't even give away the trousers - she had to dispose of them. You can google the event.
I'm a high school student, and I have part time jobs as a waiter and tutor. I have always found it much easier to go about my day wearing jeans, particularly mom jeans because they are more straight cut and less form fitting, than a dress or skirt. I bend down a lot and move quite briskly from one class/table to another. Is this wrong or less than ideal? I've always felt that wearing a t shirt and jeans put me in the right mood and prepare me for work. Any opinions on this or things I can read to understand this part of my day to day life?
As long as you are not advertising and trying to be sensual with your dressing ....i feel that's fine! It's about being intentional with clothing so as to not bring the occasion of sin for oneself and others. I don't think you have that intention.
From the Catechism: "2521 Purity requires modesty, an integral part of temperance. Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It is ordered to chastity to whose sensitivity it bears witness. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity." I can't recommend more highly Coleen Hammond's book, DRESSING WITH DIGNITY. She was a former top model. A veritable "Catechism" of dress with reasons for women, but especially (I think) for men as well. Only $5 buck from Amazon, when ordering in Kindle format. Whoever you are, Father, my wife include all Sensus Fidelium Priests, who preach on such urgent topics, in our daily Chaplet of St.Michael (and the nine choirs of Angels). We also include all exorcists.

I’m on my way to becoming a consecrated virgin. I only wear now simple black maxi dresses, ankle and wrist length, and a black veil whenever I can. I live in South Texas so it can get excruciatingly hot. I also walk on trails in cooler weather. I’m planning on buying ankle long skirts and 3/4 sleeve tops for my walks and exercise. Does anyone have any further advice on how I should dress when I walk on trails, because I don’t know if skirts are modest and practical enough for walking on trails, or if I should stick to my ankle length yoga pants? Thank you and God bless
The issue is that in the modern day we have to use modern clothes to achieve goals they are no longer made for. Skirts don’t have pockets or slits for access to pockets worn underneath. Fabrics aren’t warm and practical. Blouses are cropped or see through. Skirts are slitted. Necklines are low. Fabrics are see through in sunlight and slips are sold typically at a very short length. There are ways to get it done of course but you can’t look put together or professional and that makes it difficult to function in our modern world. I have started wearing mostly dresses because I cannot dress myself well. I simply can’t. But a dress is already a complete outfit. 😂so there’s that.
Hi Father, thank you very much for this talk- I am very grateful that Sensus Fidelium is on UA-cam, but I have a question for you. I tend towards scrupulousity at times, especially when it comes to this subject, and I end up becoming more vain than modest in my thoughts.. so is there a code to follow. I know you spoke about it for Mass, but I have to wear pants at work, and it is really stressful to shop.. I am open to any women’s thoughts as well :) Thank you in advance!
I wanna cry. This is good messaging, and no "buts". I've had pants that are like flowy skirts (they pass), but winter pants are VERY hard. However, we've got to figure it out: tights (2 pairs if necessary due to snow), boots, and long ...dresses? Those ARE my Mass clothes. If anyone's like me with a very thin frame, size 00 or 0 in the US (24 or under in Europe), and you're not short, finding the clothing is difficult. Add in a husband (who we must obey) buying "less the modest" apparel as a gift 😢 it's a FINE LINE to walk (I layer up). I'm going to try hard to rid my closet of man-looking clothes. I don't want to be pinched (Purgatory time) for clothing choices, or send the wrong signal to other women. (Real women, of course. Not drag queens, though Lord please bless the "drag queens" with some minute sense of self-respect! 🙏📿 ). (This isn't going to be easy. But ...there are vintage shops! I think we must all try.)
I've worn exclusively dresses/skirts for 6 years. Many women, especially Catholic women, try to make excuses and scrape up "exceptions". "What about when I do dirty work and gardening?" "What about when it's cold?" "What about riding my bike?" These "whataboutisms" are such poor excuses that don't refute the principle and only reflect their lack of devotion. As if any of these situations would not allow for dresses to still be worn, as if there are any good excuses for immodesty, androgyny, and communism.
@Olivia Rose Patrick Hart If your skirt is a certain length or style then I don't see how it would be much issue. Either way, riding a bike isn't an excuse for immodesty
As a Catholic & mom, I am surprised how you are attacking women by your speech. Yes, modesty is important, yet women should not be targeted in this way. Many suffer abuse - often at the hands of their own husbands. Are you telling us to always wear skirts? How practical is that when one has a young child or works with children. I don't follow "fashions" yet I like to be comfortable. Try wearing long sleeves & long skirts when it's really hot out 30 degrees celsius & more! There's nothing wrong with going to the beach with one's child to enjoy God's creation (ocean, natural beauty).. GOD looks at our HEARTS, man judges by appearance
I think you missed the opening of the talk, which explains how modern fashions were introduced by masons "to corrupt" society. Modern fashion is at an all time low. People are dressing in ways we've never dressed before. Women (mothers with many children, working women) have worn skirts and long sleeves for thousands of years. I was in a convent in a desert for several years and we wore our full, wool habits year round. Your body adapts. I still wear long skirts and long sleeves; it is no bother in the heat. You just have to train your body to get used to it. When we go swimming we have long sleeve swim wear and swim skirts. It's not difficult. Men can be immodest and I wish people would also speak of that.
In general: If women dressed as women, men would be more manly. An appropriately dressed girl or lady inspire boys and men to be gentlemen, courageous and courteous. Only women are called and are capable of reflecting the beauty of God.
Why are you showing pictures of Elizabeth of England. She is not a Catholic, and head of her own Church of England. Sure, she might wear appropriate clothes but she is not a role model for Catholics.
I don't recall reading comments on Fr. R's talk on Effeminacy from men complaining about being "singled out." But for whatever reason when a priest preaches on common defects of women, particularly "modesty" (with out also mentioning men) he gets stoned by the laity. Perhaps this is the pride of Eve made manifest.
I am torn...what if we need to wear pants due to our occupation? For example, I'm a nurse and the need to wear scrub pants is a necessity. What do we do in that situation?
JangX Wear your scrubs. The *MOST* important thing is to be modest. If you can wear more feminine clothing, if that means skirts and dresses that’s a bonus.
Dear Sensus Fidelium - during minutes 12:55 to 13:06 - you should heed this and ask yourself why you included so many pictures of immodest women. The photo's you showed of the women from the 1920's .... some of them were "smoking hot." But, other than that - thanks for this tremendous talk.
The priests at my church here in New England wear cassocks, and caps. We had a church party last night, to celebrate 150 years, and all of the priests were wearing their long black gowns. Very proper
I only wear pants because I deeply dislike my fat lower legs, I love dresses but it’s very embarrassing to have people staring at my cankles. I always wished I could wear dresses without being self conscious.
At Sunday Mass, someone's cell rang the theme song to The Pink Panther...during the consecration! This bothers me more than a minority of faithful, who may happen to demonstrate poor choice of clothing.
Does anyone have an opinion on women wearing a veil / scarf on their head. I know there is a movement to bring it back. Just curious what others think. Thank you
I don't do that, respect women who do, but I don't feel ready for this... It's challenging but sometimes works the other way round - instead of making you "invisible to others" attracts people's attention. I guess it's important to be humble and try your best. Wear modest clothes and behave in the same manner... Oh, maybe I'll reach the point when I will veil but now I just don't. I recognize the beauty and strenght behind it, still have many doubts. I don't feel it's essential...
So, this is hard for me to embrace, but I want to live according to the truth. Yet, I am confused in how men and women should dress in certain circumstances? Does the circumstance define the attire, of course as long as it's modest? How ought a man and woman dress when working out, or swimming, or a casual evening out? Can a man not wear blue jeans and a t-shirt because he ought to always wear slacks and a collar shirt? Is a woman always obligated to a dress? Help me understand please.
@SensusFedelium can people dress not according to these rules if they are alone or just (the girl) with her mother/sister/girl friend or (the boy) with his father/brother/boy friend or if they are sure that noone can see them and of course if you are only with your spouse? Or what about medical procedures?
ievatamulionyte18 The goal is to avoid the likely occasion of sin. If you knowingly wear immodest clothes in front of men it is likely that it could trigger lust and you would be partly responsible, so take steps to avoid this.
Regarding medical issues you can usually request a female nurse or doctor if you are female and need to undress for something, but if it’s not possible or unavoidable then I don’t think it would be a sin.

So is there even such thing as modest pants for women? Sometimes sports, work, and chores are more practical and even safer without loose fabric. Any tips?
I haven't owned pants in 6 years. There doesn't exist such a thing as modest pants. Modesty isn't just about sexual scandal. There is no task that requires pants for women, and if there were, women shouldn't be doing it anyway. Convenience is a very poor excuse and only shows a lack of devotion.
I hear you! That's the problem I have with what the priest is saying. It's one thing to be modest going to church, but how practical is it to wear skirts & dresses at work, exercising or beach? I dare say it's worse to wear skirts all the time when one is trying to be active which is also a duty as a Christian to take care of our bodies - temples of the Holy Spirit :)
@@Coolbricks664 There are perfectly modest swimsuits that can be purchased for both men and women. Trying to swim or exercise in baggy clothes is "almost" impossible ---- but one can be modest in such cases without advertising one's body. Women back in the 1950s had bathing suits that were modest, and men wore swim trunks that were truly acceptable. As for exercising and running, one can still dress in modifications that are not skin tight and are not revealing. Both men and women must stay away from spandex ----- AT ALL COSTS! Wearing leotards (men and women) for workouts is so far beyond appropriate that it is sinful to even think about wearing them. Loose clothing for exercising is healthier anyway. When I used to run everyday I couldn't have imagined wearing tight clothing, and I am a man. I always wore loose running gear. It takes thought, but it is easy enough.
Some of the comments I see from traditionalists are truly absurd. The idea women have to wear skirts to their mid calf is ridiculous. If you think fashion was scandalous in the 1950’s you have problems.
Ok the thumbnail picture goes completely against the entire point of this excellent homily! Red lipstick and painted nails? No. Immodest. 1 Tim 2:9-14. That picture should be replaced.
I was wearing a high-necked top, jacket, midi-length full skirt, and sensible shoes as I walked by a Catholic church. When the young man walking toward me was ready to pass me, he said, "Good morning, Sister." My modest outfit wasn't exactly the most attractive look if I were marriage-eligible.
Catholics do not "hate" people of Islam. But. Islam is a false religion, and Muslims are practicing a false religion. People of the Book is a Muslim concept, not a Catholic one. Muslims and Jews and all other heretics, schismatics, pagans, heathens, idolators, atheists and agnostics are required to forsake their false beliefs to adhere to the belief and practice that Christ came to fulfill and establish for the rest of time.
St. Thomas Aqiinas talks about modesty and decorum but tattoos are forbidden as noted in sacred scripture. It is considered disfiguring the body and unnatural.
It is always wrong for a female to wear pants in public view. The person who put this together should know better. "Dressing with Dignity" is one of the few places where it is explained why pants aren't proper for females to wear.

Don't listen to them, because they don't care.

Thats sad

I have meet many holy religious women who wear pants. All of my grandmothers wore pants and most older ladies I see at church wear pants
MJ D What is your career field?
Steph Guz Good, I absolutely do not judge others either based on that. I treat a homeless woman wearing rags the same as a hotty-totty socialite woman. Also as for women who do dress immodesty the most you can do is just feel sorry for them. Heck I feel sorry for myself when I used to dress that way and still from time to time do. I mean I don’t do it for attention but I wear shorts just because it’s hot and also to the fitness center. It’s just so commonplace now. But yes, no one knows the heart beneath the attire.
We can all dress better, and not just at Church, to respectfully help each other achieve holiness. Great to hear a Priest address the issue!
You can never dress well enough. Who are you to judge?

Well said Father and God be praised and glorified through your powerful sermon!

Yes, you can find clothes that are modest. There are some churches, that don't let you in, if you are not dressed decent. They have a dress code for everyone.
Thank you for this sermon! I will put this into practice as soon as possible.
I've formulated the following "equation": clothing is to the body of the wearer as the
opposite gender is to that wearer. So, for example, the photo of clothing worn by young
Prince Philip and that worn by his young Queen Elizabeth, make a totally different
"statement" and give a totally different example than a couple who've "caved in" to
the styles of dress -or UN-dress -as promoted by Freemasonry.
I researched the quote from 1928 about corrupting women through dress... the citation is an echo chamber. I cannot find the supposed publication “international review of freemasonry, 1928” that it allegedly comes from.
Anyone know where it comes from?
Is it “The Revelations of The Holy Face of Jesus” by John Vennari, a small booklet available @ fatima.org
David Johnson I’m with you. And welcome to the church. Praise God.
It's a cross to have to go to the NO Mass. I feel for you.

Is it so hard not to just have custody of the eyes? Do we really mollycoddle men that much?
Wow...what a story about the St. Pio and the lady with the shop that sold women's slacks! I can't wait to share it with friends:) Thank you, Fr..
Thank you!
Padre pio also chased a woman out of line in confession because she was wearing trousers. Lol
Ok thanks I’ll check it out
I'm a high school student, and I have part time jobs as a waiter and tutor.
I am sorry the only advice I have for you is to pray about it and ask God for guidance .I suggest you seek spiritual advice from your local priest
Only

Love Fr K! He puts things into such great perspective. Glad he's one of our 3 very amazing shepherds.

I pray to Mary!
Protip...Its called Cami secret. Its a little piece of fabric to cover cleavage if your dress is too low cut.
That's what I've experienced since I started wearing dresses and skirts only! Good point!
@Henry Stoneking - *We not us.
I love this
Why are you showing pictures of Elizabeth of England. She is not a Catholic, and head of her own Church of England. Sure, she might wear appropriate clothes but she is not a role model for Catholics.
Sensus fidelium better check itself before it wrecks itself
Dressing with Dignity. Where do I get the book?
correction to first comment: " .. for Fr. R. and all EXORCISTS .."
That's perfectly acceptable. Don't let the rigidly Trads tell u any different! Also trousers are fine if they're modest
Where in the Bible does it say women cannot wear pants? and why do Priests wear dresses?
JangX you are fine. I can’t remember the year nurses went away from the white dress to the scrubs.
They actually make scrub skirts believe it or not
JangX
Wear your scrubs.
With due respect why priests do not wear cassocks anymore
The priests at my church here in New England wear cassocks, and caps. We had a church party last night, to celebrate 150 years, and all of the priests were wearing their long black gowns. Very proper
They're Modernists.
So we are not allowed to sell or donate it? We must throw it away?
yes throw it away because if you donate it you put others in sin who wears it.
It breaks my heart to see a young girl with his father by her side at church or any other place and dressed half naked 💔
Great talk. Thank you!!
15:21 to 16:02. JUST LISTEN !!!! please heed the warning, it’s out of care for your sensibilities!!

When I used to run everyday I
couldn't have imagined wearing tight clothing, and I am a man. I always wore loose running gear. It takes thought, but it is easy enough.
