that opening, oh my lord for all the beauty of, say, a locatteli cello piece, which epitomizes precision and dexterity, the hindustani approach to bowed instruments is somehow so much more ‘real’. granted, the tabla accompaniment provides the sharpness and immediacy, but: it resonates in the body, not just the head. the produced emotional resonance is so much deeper.
