I don’t care what anyone says … the narrator is the best decision they made for this arc. Sheer perfection!
I've rewatched this arc countless times and while HxH may not be the best anime of all time, I consider this arc to be the best among all anime arcs to be ever written.
This arc is basically a D&D campaign in anime form. The narrator is the best way to implement a DM to this media (imo).

@@Nero-KDjjk does not need it. Hxh manga has a lot of use of narrator box. Jjk does not have it. It will only create a problem because jjk is too fast paced.
Narrator-san is hands down the star of this arc 😆
This episode was just so masterfully crafted from page to screen, it's like you're reading the manga and its narration but in motion.
But there is a lot of censure unlike the manga
Meruem hidden facial expression is one of the most genius decisions made by TogashiGOD. Our imagination runs wild trying to picture his expression.

Togashi is easily the greatest Shonen writer of all time.
I love that Shoot moment bc as it was established that he's a coward the viewer expect him to froze bc of fear, but actually he avoids combat only if he can, not if he's already in the situation...even his master Morel misunderstood him in this moment. Shoot is stronger than anyone think I love that we discover it in this moment...Time to shine!
This entire arc can be summed up in:
"This is it!!! This is exactly what would happen!!! This is exactly what I predicted how such characters would act in this situation!!!"
The way the author plays with each chess piece, remaining faithful to each one and narrating each moment.. It is an experience I pray to have more in other works....
that's what's amazing with HxH, many author use character like they want to drive the plot in the right direction, but Togashi is letting the character write the story and use external factor to reroute the plot in the right direction.
Damn Linds really predicted Gon’s internal struggle coming
I don't think Gon was only focused on Pitou...he was in a focused mode bc of his resolve yes (and it made him act on instinct here when Killua and the rest had to mentally process the information), but not to the point where he wouldn't care about his companions so early in the mission and with Pitou nowhere to be seen yet ...he really changed his target at that moment and the proof is his eyes changed when he saw the results of Knuckle's attack
7:46 he wouldn't have that reaction if he was only focused on Pitou and ignoring Youpi (+ the narrator is commenting on it and I believe him he's our Lord and Savior in this arc🙏🏻)
I would like to add an interpretation of the scene with Pitou crying...
Many may find themselves thinking that the reason for that crying is because for the first time the king is "counting on someone"... as if the king were recognizing and giving the ant a chance to prove themselves capable...
But honestly it seems to be something deeper:
If we take into account the context of the scene... The body language of the characters, facial expressions and etc... something becomes clear:
For the first time, the king is not "giving an order" to the royal guard.
The king is asking.
It is a humble request.
Review the scene for yourselves and you will be able to realize that however subtle it may be, it's there... And Pitou seems to have realized that...
This being the reason for the emotional overload that led to tears...
Recognition, vulnerability, humility, need, trust and even respect.
It's like the king has presented everything that that royal guard wanted until that moment and that they didn't even know.
In a single gesture. in a single sentence.
Like those rare moments in our lives when someone comes and tells us (or do) EXACTLY what we NEEDED at that moment....
It's a difficult feeling to describe, but anyone who has experienced it understands what it's like.

22:00 you guys didn’t understand gon was going for youpi. The narrator told if meleron died there they would’ve now, and youpi was in the way, someone need to take care of him, gon was focused on the mission yes he want pitou but youpi wan in the way. So he went straight if knuckle show up to youpi good if not he would definitely fight youpi
also the point is to establish once again how freakishly preternaturally precognicient Gon Freecs is. He connected the dots even faster than Killua and Morel. Big brain Gon.
I don't understand how she thought that Gon didn't change his target to Youpi and just trusted that Knuckle and Meleoron were alive when that's explicitly said not to be the case by the narrator and we can see Gon reacting to them being alive as though he wasn't certain about it before.
Because Carson was saying it over the narration
It may sound silly but i had the same inclination as her despite what was said in the episode.
I was really shocked how calm he was

Firstly I love the narrator in this Arc so much, he carries. Secondly, idk why it took me years seemingly to realize that Youpi's voice actor is the same as Kenpachi Zaraki in the sub. Yes I watch both the sub and the dub
I really like Gon's hair in HunterxHunter. His style really grows on you.

Knuckle and Shoot's inner thoughts really put into perspective what kind of odds they face. We learned Gon has 22K aura to make use of from Knuckle before and we learn he has less than half of Shoot, and Morel has around 70K, They are going up against just 1 guy on the stairs that is so crazy above that Knuckle has to hope its only 10x Morel, and Netero claims he is comparable to Morel and Knov now. Even if you take it as them together due to modesty and even up it further thats like what 150-200k? HxH is always about how abilities work more so than power levels but here it feels so hopeless because the gap is so monstrous. Everything has to go perfect here.
Well Netero literally just took one look at Pitou and immediately told them that he's weaker, and Colt was also just brutally honest later on.

True, it would be completely broken against almost anyone but the RG and Meruem.
In my opinion, if one person has seen the show and another hasn't then the person who hasn't seen it gets their experience somewhat spoilt because the person who has seen it just gives stuff up even without knowing, unless you say less and let them enjoy it and react. That's my opinion.

In the future when you read the manga, it's insane the LEVEL these monsters are quallified for the Pro Hunters, I only wish Togashi could find a better, more healthy way of working though.
I believe if he could just abandon the entire Mangaka system to draw the manga solely digital with a team helping him while he only do the basic directions instead of hurting himself more, he wuold be able to keep on with his story. But alas, Japanese people are way too proud for changing paradigms like that.

A lot of people mistaken thinking that nen is invisible, but it isn’t. Only if you use in is invisible and you can see only if gyo, no one was using gyo so dragon dive wasn’t invisible. Like kurapika chains, he can make invisible if he want but isn’t invisible. Kastro clone isn’t invisible everyone in havens arena saw and all the public didn’t know nen probably

Bro, this episode was a masterpiece from the start until the end. Everyone who think that this was a mid or a "ok" episode, to me, don't know how enjoy a good product ( animation and soundtrack) combined with a really good history telling and character development.
Edit: I think that this episode is a good example of how headphones make the experience even more great. Those cinema's "type-sound" or high volume also help
If the narrator weren't so excessive, it would be perfect for me, but it was an excellent episode nonetheless.
@@eliamkazama8846 bro the narrator wasn't excessive, is very common mistake excessive with necessary. Have lot lines don't mean that this was excessive, this whole ep took 3 seconds in this show, but the question is " if the narrator wasn't here, who watch this scene would understand what's going on??". Personally, I think that in the best scenario 98% of who watch this ep would mistake everything. The narrator make the "roll" of this "However/But" to the scenes to guide you to the right way and avoid comments like "why they are standing still in this moment ". To exemplify the "Necessary" part: Shoot stopping to don't make Knuckle get crossfire and delaying his moves, Shoot stopping the second time because he was fascinated by Gon( and not because what Morel imagine), Gon rationally going against Yupi, Pouf and Pitou reaction to the situation and Netero and Zeno respect for the cause choosing prioritize the human life( this last one is very important to see the difference in Gon's methods).
So, that was long but, just like in the episode: necessary, not excessive....
@@JampaS2 I know in SOME parts it's necessary. But there are parts where you can clearly understand what is happening and what a characters is feeling by just watching their expressions and actions.
I'm not saying I would like to get rid of the narrator, I'm just saying is too excessive in this arc. After all, HxH wasn't always like this, everything was understandable without an excessive usage of the narrator. And I know the Chimera ant arc is one of the most complex arcs, but I believe it would've been posible to have a narrator without over exposing every single scene, even in the Chimera arc.
I think that at this point Togashi has so much information to put into the story, that he doesn't know how to summarize it anymore.

My god, imagine if the narrator was this intense since the beginning... the anime would have like 300 episodes lol.
there was so much going on in such a short span of time, the narrator was absolutely necessary. if the rest of the anime isn't like that it's because it wasn't meant to be.

Why i like the narrator here, 1 is make the scene more easy to understand, 2 is make the scene more dramatic, 3 what the narrator said is poetic, and 4 the narrator is better than inner monologue

Way too many people misunderstand this arc. For a lot of scenes, the animation complements the narrator, NOT the other way around. Not even close. How is this that hard smh
As much as I love the narrator, my only gripe with the palace invasion is that I feel like he is a little overused.

but the punch send him a few centimeters away so he had to feel that at least and deduce it was an attack, it wasn't just touching like Meleoron did with the bird when he demonstrated it to Gon..so he was even more confused bc he didn't feel their presence
