    That development of a theme is something which reminds me of Beethoven, which could develop complete symphonies from two notes.

      Well...Dave Holland, Mark Johnston, Christian McBride...but John Patitucci is a truly remarkable - and hugely influential - musician...

      When you get to that kind of level, you can't say that one player is better than another. It's just who's approach you prefer more

    yep, and you need to add a good ear, good musical literacy, nimble fingers and at least 5 hours of practicing a day, you're good to go!

    From the sound of it, Wayne Shorters idea of improvising is the only way. Composing in the moment. Anything else is premeditated and not improvised.
