    I've been asked a lot for the listing to mine e and sadly its no longer available this maybe covid related. but I have grabbed a link to a name bream Orion laser on Amazon that I would recommend it actually has more features than mine and has the most recommended controller

    To avoid the "smoke" residue, change starting point to front of work area. That way as the laser moves over the project, it removes the smoke residue. Starting from the back of the machine does the opposite.

    I got a 100W otherwise the same exact machine. I am a bit concerned however, that the laser does not align with the rest of the optics. Laser sits about ¼" higher and a little bit farther to the back of the machine that the first mirror. I presume at this point that if I shim the first mirror, I am going to have to shim everything else. BTW, I installed the laser tube as it came in a separate
    package. Not sure if I should fire this thing up and see what happens or fiddle with it first.

  • @acdii
    @acdii 3 роки тому

    LOL, did you know you can remove the screws on the bottom and the whole thing lifts right off the pallet? I have that exact same laser but in Yellow and black, the doors are black the rest is yellow. I bought a CW5200 chiller, mix distilled water and RV antifreeze to keep the water clean, and since it is in a chiller it is also sealed to prevent growth or evaporation. You are also the first person I have ever seen debug a laser controller. LOL
    A couple tips, replace the lens with a good one, Get a 2" lens, you will notice a difference right away, also replace and properly align the mirrors. I use copper mirrors. The mirrors and lens that these come with are cheap and don't reflect enough energy, also on mine the lens was cloudy, should be crystal clear(yellow in color). Got mine from MCWlaser. Also protect your tube by reducing the max power to 80%-90% at the controller, you never want to run the included tube at full power because the power supply is set to a 60watt tube, but these are actually 50watt tubes. Check the length and diameter to confirm. I see you installed a ma meter, put a mark at ~20 and try not to exceed it, and your tube will last a lot longer. A true 60 watt tube is 55mm diameter by 1200mm, the tubes in these Chasers are 55mm x 1100 mm which are 50 watts. They overdrive them to get 60 watts, which shortens the tube life. When my tube has run it's course I will upgrade to a RECI 100Watt and power supply, only need to make an extension cap for the box. These are surprisingly very good lasers for what they cost, they just need some fine tuning and TLC and they are just as good as some American name brand $8000 and higher lasers.

    I only skimmed through the video, but wanted to share that I bought one of them big blue 50W about a year ago. I found it on amazon from a warehouse in the US which was cool. Mine was a little cheaper and came with a rotary tool, but that red one looks cooler for sure. That full honeycomb bed is nice. Mine is just steel bed so I had to buy a honeycomb separate and still havent quite found one that can really maximize my work area so with bigger projects I'm cutting I have to improvise by using bolts spread around as raisers to keep the bottom free of all that resin when cutting. My Laser paid for itself like 4 or 5 times now. I use it regularly and havent had any issues with the machine. As long as a person is commited to learning without any decent tech support the chinese lasers really arent a bad buy.

      Not exactly these are Co2 lasers which are great for cutting bio materials like wood leather and strangely really great at acrylic. Thanks for sharing this video, I was looking into getting the 80 watt version of this laser cutter/engraver (330 lbs worth) ... I noticed you didn't use any air filtration unit at all, just vented directly outside? I plan to work with 6mm MDF and 3mm Acrylic materials and I'm environmentally conscience not to mention my neighbors would probably get pissed off if I vented unfiltered ... as you have shown in your video, it looked like your house was on fire from the fumes. Have you considered an air filtration system? If so, recommendations? Also, any chance you have a DB reading on the noise it generates from about 20 feet away?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  4 роки тому +2

      I went with the 60w cause I believe its the highest voltage without the bump out of the side although once my tube goes out I may go ahead and upgrade it like some have done.
      In the video the fumes are normally not that bad I believe that wood had a lot of moisture in it at the time causing what looked like a house fire.
      The noise from the stock fan is pretty loud I don't have any readings but I would say pretty close to a lead blower, though I've seen people upgrade that to a much quieter online fan.
      I'll be putting out more videos dealing strictly with the laser, wanting to do a series on will it cut. I'm thinking pizza is a must.

      You can make a carbon filter unit that sits next to the cabinet for between $300-$400. Also, unless you already made a purchase, you can save some money by buying the 60 watt laser and buying a GOOD RECI 80w tube and power supply, or even go up to a 100W tube. The cost is ~$600 plus shipping for the tube and supply, and you get a True 80 watts. An end cap can be made from 4" PVC drain pipe and a flange and cap from Home Depot.

      Well I definitely don’t want anyone to take me seriously here on UA-cam but those power strips have breakers in them that’s why they have the reset button. This is what I was referring to when I said breaker.

      So the laser I got really has no branding at all you will see people just referring to it as the 60w red and black. I've had my eye on the Orion brand though they looks similar but nicer and with extra features.

      What size is the engraving area? I’m thinking about adding an engraving machine so that I can add that capability to my shop. I have been trying to determine what size I really need. I want it small enough so I can afford it but big enough so I don’t outgrow it to quickly.
      Does yours have the pass through doors for doing longer work pieces that you can do by breaking them into sections and feeding the work through step by step?
