Some viewers might find the old pictures upsetting. The reputation of human nature and our history is unfortunate. Our predecessors were forced to capture images of war, torture, or bad events in order to commemorate certain events.

Had to smile when I saw the old-time photo at 2:03 from Mosquito Crossing, Georgia. All the buzz is about The Time Then being the top channel on UA-cam for historic photos.

At 8:10 the Chestnut vendor. Most....some..Americans know about the Chestnut Tree blight in the Appalachians in the 20s and 30s. All the trees did of Blight introduced from....yep, China, and there are none left today. Small experimental orchards of hybrids have been set out and hoping for the best.
    No more Chestnut sellers nowdays

Hello all. Not meant to be a criticism, just more of a correction. The photo at 5:00 with the caption "View of Derby, Connecticut from the Ansonia side of the Naugatuck River. November 1940" is incorrect. It is actually Shelton, Connecticut across the Housatonic River, not the Naugatuck and the shot was taken from the Derby side, probably from High Street since that is the only location with an elevation high enough to capture this scene. I used to live not too far from here, and something didn't seem right. So here is how I figured it out. In this photo, just above the porch railing, to the left of the column closest to the right of the frame you can see a bridge. That is the Shelton-Derby railroad bridge. Just beyond that bridge you can see two pinnacles. The one on the left is St. Joseph's Church and the other is the Masonic Lodge, both on Coram Avenue in Shelton. The location of those two pinnacle landmarks, plus maps from the 1951 aerial survey of Connecticut, and other various online images helped me nail down the correct location.
