We commemorate J. S. Bach's birthday March 21, 2024, with a special rendition of his magnificent Passacaglia, featuring an added dance performance. This musical rendition is designed specifically for the North German Baroque organ in Gothenburg. To accomplish this, organist Lukas Arvidsson had to transpose the piece to D minor, taking into account the instrument’s quarter comma mean tone temperament, its short octave, its sub semitones, and its keyboard compass.
The recording captures the culmination of a live performance in Örgryte New Church, Gothenburg, March 3, 2024, featuring dancers Gabriel Davidsson and Natalie Ogonek, actor Stina Ekblad, and organist Lukas Arvidsson.
