this is a brilliant video! after learning the basics of DJing it is brilliant to watch exactly what a professional DJ does during his mix, rather than try and listen for it. Would love to see Eddie Halliwell do a video like this, to see what he does for his builds and breaks =) The EQing is something which is hardest to describe and learn yet watching this it makes it seem so simple!
@gerthedj when you broadcast or you'er recording your gears is normally contacted to an interface or some times directly to your computer, where you control the volume, so if you see the red colors going up and down from the mixer that really doesn't mean that your volume is that high. :)
hehe it was a typo, im not claiming to be better than fergie and i love his style of mixing and type of tunes he play. i been in ibiza alot and always listen to his sets when its on the radio. its just that after years of djing, you listen to sets in another way... if u cant hear what i meant, just enjoy the mix :)
@mhsaccount Ohhh I'm so fortunate to get a response from you Mhsaccount, an ultra uber experienced DJ who knows it all and can call Fergie a noob. You are so skilled that you almost always have 2 "songs" playing (at least) at the same time. I'm sorry I missed your set on Pioneer DJ sounds, that was the chance of my life to see and hear the greatest performance in history. Listening to Mhsaccount was my dream, I can't believe I missed it. BTW who de the F calls them songs? Ohhh, a noob.
@DjPastraYou are right, but that is not the point. The signal from the mixer will usually still be some what distorted that's why you never play the red.
@DjPastra Firstly it's XLR Out, Speakons are used from amp to speakers!!!!! XLR to send audio signal from anything inbetween mixer, eq, etc and amp!!!! secondly, have you heard the expression 'You can't polish a turd' so regardless of where you are controling the volume or what eq's/gates/ whatever you are using the signal is still distorted.......if it was just down to the sound engineer why don't we all walk round with 128 bit rate mp3's
@Djivanhughes not really, can you see those big wide cables that are plug in to the master audio well those are SpeakOn Connectors which are going to the equalizer or interface and there is where you control your volumes, not from the mixer directly, and you wonder how do I know this, cause I have the same gear and I'm an Audio engineer :) peace.
Desafio para a Dj Sounds. Coloquem o David Guetta mixando ao vivo com todos os equipamentos ligados. Quero ver ele mixando, não dando uma de Fake como ele fez na Circus!
@palimpalim121 well even worse...like I read somewhere on youtube " with that money you can buy yourself a nice car and then get a pioneer sticker on the back!" ahahah
mixing in key is not that hard if you organize your music in a way that you know which tracks are in which key (or, if you use DJ software, the information can be displayed on the screen).
@CiaranVanDon Fair enough man, he's a wicked DJ and I wasn't saying otherwise, I wasn't really calling him a fool, it was meant to be a jokey comment, I guess it didn't come across that way in text form.
when doing effects you should be ON beat :P , and for beatmatching yes it can fall off (but shoulndt if you prepare it properly on the headphones first, and also i doubt this is the first time he mixes these tunes before going on the radio ;) and he was quick to adjust it but still, you get my point this is no bedroom dj...
@mhsaccount There's nothing wrong with that, I've noticed I do stuff like that when I'm playing. I often find myself checking the begining of a cue over and over and over. Also, I often tap to the beat the space right next to the play/pause button, people wonder why my decks are worn in that point. It is kind of a compulsive behavior, but there's nothing wrong with that. When you are enjoying it, you think less about what you are doing and let go, that's when those things start to show.
@elixer6x6x6 well really some people do take all the theatrics to a really ridiculous level but still sometimes when you really get into what you are playing and are having a good time you do tend to make a few exaggerated movementations with your arms while mixing :)
why does he keep the volums so high up?!? hitting the top red bar does not do any good for sound quality...that and that he goes slightly off beat, and someo fthe effects arent proplery timed makes me a bit....i dunno. i went to his oparties and listened to lots of his shows, still this is wierd to do for such a experienced dj
@greendayfan567 get the native instruments s4 but... id HIGHLYYY recomend just saving up alittle more. if u go to ebay aswell and get deals ther. i got cdj800mk2's and a ddm4000 4 chanel mixer with 2 effects banks as my first set for about 1600$ everything was purchased around Christmas as well so u could probably get cdj's for cheaper now. but thats head phones the cdj's and mixer for about 1600. go to ebay tho cus they have a set of denon 3700 buy it now for $1300 or best offer brand new
i would expect the beats to be tighter from such a high profile dj, not what i call an acceptable mixing standard! especialy on the cdj 2000's you dont even need to use headphones because the beat counter is so precise!
Fergie was the man is the man and still will be one of my fav djs. Such a bad ass on the decks
Fergie respect from Moldova
Fantastic, chilled sounds......love it =)

@DjPastraYou are right, but that is not the point. The signal from the mixer will usually still be some what distorted that's why you never play the red.

@DjPastra Firstly it's XLR Out, Speakons are used from amp to speakers!!!!! @mhsaccount thats the way dj¨s chek their nobs.... he is an legendary artist.....

Pioneer is nr one i in DJ gear such as cdj and dmj.
Senheisser is nr one in headphones.
no fail,
WIN
@palimpalim121 well even worse...like I read somewhere on youtube " with that money you can buy yourself a nice car and then get a pioneer sticker on the back!" ahahah
@Djivanhughes mmmh good one
@AndyParty100 eh no.. its tech house/deep house maybe. Some minimal and techno chucked in there i think also.
@NLHardstylemixes well said ;)
I got a question: I got no DJ-set yet, and im a beginner. What DJ set should i buy the first time? NOTE: Price like 500-1200 dollar. Please answer
of the full tracklist? that's all?
@jusdo1t auto-matic? I use it in Traktor. It saves me a lot of time.
@EverGone03 pls sleep very long, we will enjoy ;)
kits of DJs have that tendency to do that haha i do it as well idk why
how come hes in the red on the mixer levels?
where can i find track list for this please
@RAH101 thats not a fail, because Senns are vastly superior headphones

This is trance?
first music??
a 1 Dollar shop xD
Where can i find the video of the full mix? Its not on the pioneer djsounds website at all

never mind found it
how do you record the video like this ?
from where??? you bought them?
theres 4000€ well spent!! aha :D
Still dont understand why all these DJ's keep red lining it - all about 0DB and a nice clean signal
@mhsaccount We're DJ's man...we tweek out on things like low knobs
@mhsaccount haha that comment really did make me lol so many djs do that pretend they are moving nobs to look like they are doing something
@RAH101 headphones dont matter only the mixer and the cd players matter
This is not the Fergie I was expecting
Cant find the complete video on djsounds.com =( HELP!!
@RAH101 Artist´s Right ...
Maxing out that gain level. Turn it down you fool!
Sorry Allen and Heath mixers kick the living snot out of the DMJ... 3 years on a DJM and once I got my Xone, id never look back ;0

@kaetos03 of course they do good work, but they're made in indonesia...
@elixer6x6x6 well really some people do take all the theatrics to a really ridiculous level but still sometimes when you really get into what you are playing and are having a good time you do tend to make a few exaggerated movementations with your arms while mixing :)
good beats but alot of excessive flicking of knobs but not even adjusting them , guess its just a habit
@FordSierraIS I think the pioneer mixers allow this to happen, well i hope lol, i dare not try it with mine :)
nobody's gonna make a black eyed peas reference? no one? ok.
check out my house mix. its almost 1 full hour of real house music. and its all in one video. check it out.

@purefm1 Techno / Tech House
@elixer6x6x6 This reminds me of Amon Tobins hilarious take on DJing. Type in Amon Tobin on DJing. You will piss yourself laughing haha.
@greendayfan567

Why?
then do it, and go and make some money.
