Yeah there are loads of old buses on the market, i was oblivious to it until last year when a mate picked up a volvo Olympian for for about £6k, whats even more crazy like with trains there are bus spotters, i found pictures and history of my mates bus from when dublin bus purchased it when it was exported to england and every other company it went to until my mate got it and now its a pub, about 30 years worth of history I reckon it was the top gear boys that made people thing "that could work" lol

@@tamazildjian222 yeah its deffo a volvo olympian, i must admit took me a few minutes to work out you have to press the brake at the same time as engaging drive for the thing to engage, what surprised me was volvo but i think it was on the gearbox there was a cast brand mark... skoda emblem lol

Built like tanks them ALX 400's. I had a car crash into the back of one at 40mph whilst i was stationary at a bus stop - the car was obliterated however my bus suffered no damage except for a small dent in the rear bumper.
@@DJAJXKP I live in the Wirral area in Merseyside and we used to have a few of these same ALX400 busses about 8 years ago.... which Arriva added to its fleet of busses. They were all from late 2001/early 2002 and registered on a 51 plate. I only ever got on one of these ALX 400 busses to pick up my car from its MOT station and it felt solid compared to the 1995/1996 N plate Volvo Alexanda bodied double decker Olympian buses we had here most of the time which looked great. The only thing I noticed was the engine in the ALX 400 vibrated like a Kango road digger ! whilst the bus was stationary.... I think most probably the engine tick over was set too low in order to save fuel ! but if not, then I do not recommend sitting at the back of one of these ALX400'S !!! as you will be shaken to death !!! Thanks for the upload, I enjoyed watching all these busses in action even if they were behaving badly and getting totally wrecked lol

Interesting how those "newer" red ones are in this - there's at least one late build Dart SLF / Pointer 2 built under Alexander Dennis on a 55 plate (I thought I could hear the 3.9-litre 4-cylinder 16-valve common-rail-injected turbo-Diesel engine) and the long red one I think is a Mk1 Enviro300 (albeit with what look like Pointer 2 front lights swapped in) - I feel old :P

45 years ago we had two school bus drivers, one we called "brake king", the other "curve's devil". The brake king allways was braking down the bus so brutally that we flew around. Curve devil took the curves with touching the sidewalk's edges and ... we flew around. We had a lot of fun, the buses didn't too 😀.

How to use retired buses UK: Destruction derby HK: Donate them to schools. There are 17 Trident 3s and 21 Volvo B10TLs being donated to schools by KMB, the largest bus operator.
Would be more fun if they raced these buses without any modifications and add some of the bigger buses like the Hong Kong E500s, really want to see how different buses perform on the racetrack when completely stock

This looks like busses on the 192 route from Manchester to stockport as the bus drivers as some of the bus drivers are lead foots and it's a very busy road and trying to cross it you take your life in your hands!!!😎
Could you imagine driving to the track before the Derby and pulling into a bus stop picking up passengers and dropping them off at the track? Probably confuse them because they only wanted to go the supermarket..😳

I've been here before as a spectator and a kid who competed in a race gave me the winners trophy and I still have it

All the buses used in the video had already had there fate sealed for scrapping.
No e300s in this, 1 B10BLE, 1 TRIDENT, 1 OLYMPIAN, 3 darts and I think a volvo b10m plaxton coach
And the last surviving bus gets a complete re build and goes back into revenue earning service !
