Every single day I had to battle with people over money and what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday with my wife and children turned into a constant battle. On my first visit to a restaurant, I was charged almost 4000 lire for 4 kebabs and 4 cups of juice. The people of Turkey have no integrity and the dishonest nature of the people is unmatched. I have travelled to many countries and have never experienced such dishonesty. The only honest and reliable part of Turkey was the tram system as it has no human interaction and therefore no opportunity for dishonesty. Truly shocking experience
I was in Istanbul 3 weeks ago and must agree with every word you say. Such a dishonest , low class reality. I left the hotel earlier and got to the airport because I felt that they could drive somewhere else instead of going to the airport. Their trick to get more money is to say, " O, there's is a traffic" and might drive somewhere else. I was happy to get out of this country safe.

Hi, sorry to hear that! Indeed, such things happen but there are still a lot of nice and hospitable people in Turkey. Many places still offer tea/cofee for free at the end of your meal. I think hyperinflation must be the reason for the higher prices when you buy large quantities. Detergent for example: You could buy 5L today for 500lira. But if you buy 1L today for 100lira, 1L next week for 110lira, 1L next week for 120lira, 1L next week for 130, 1L next week for 140- that's 600lira for 5L. So the brands lose money by selling larger quantities.
Thanks for your input. But, while selling bigger quantities you are using less plastic per liter, so cost is less and time consumed by manufacture to fill 5 liters in bulk is much less than 1 liter. Euro seems to be the default currency in tourists area in Antalya. Eating out is also not cheap in the old town, with prices around 20€ per person, which is comparable to western europe!
@tiptopturkey thanks for replying. Sorry to be a pest. But does that mean everything is priced in euro. ? Does belek have best quality replica. ? Or do I need to go into antalya. ? Thanks
@schillachi247 Welcome! Yes, in Belek most of the stores they use Euro for pricing. You can find in all of Antalya, but quality differs from one store to another.
I wanted to move to Antalya this year with my kid but after all this information i changed my mind , i prefer Dubai bcs the vost of rent is same😂 but at least very high quality in everything and very safe))
Hi, there is a big difference in the rent between Dubai and Antalya. For the same apartment size in Antalya for USD700 or 800, you will get it for around USD 2,000 to USD 2,500 in a good neighbourhood but not the best in Dubai. I agree the quality of life there is different, but Antalya also is considered a safe city.
Yes, there are lots of negative or unpleasant reviews with bad experiences faced by tourists... not a good thing about turkey....if they don't improve their practices, they will lose tourists which contribute a lot to their economy.
Hi, thanks so much for your helpful videos and answering people’s questions. What is the weather like in the beginning of April? I’m worried the pools will the cold. Are the days long or short in April? Thank you
Hi, glad you find them helpful!😊 The beginning of April is not suitable for swimming. If it is a sunny day, then you might opt for a quick swim, but the water will be cold. Days will be long, around 12+ hours of daylight. Enjoy your trip!
The prices are insane. Im from san diego one of the most touristic destinations in the u.s. and was shocked how expensive turkey is. A ten dollar burger in california better be a steak burger but in antalya you'll get the most disgusting excuse of a burger for like 15 dollars. Doesn't make sense. Greece is far cheaper and the quality of food is way way better
Burgers may be the national dish in Southern California but not in Turkey. Would it be reasonable for someone from Turkey to compare the quality of a Meze from a Turkish restaurant in San Diego to one in Antalya?
@sultanoftippoo3857 American food shts all over turkish food especially in San Diego because of how diverse it is. In the 3 months I was there I didn't have any food that was actually tasty. On top of the food not being tasty it was expensive. Turkey is way way over-rated. Let alone the rude treatment you get if you're brown but if you're white your basically God. It's not a good place to visit honestly
I'm traveling there soon with a girl who has high allergy to mustard tomatoes nuts & spices. Can you give me any advice on what to do? Do you think it's better to stay away from Turkish restaurants? Cause you scared me when you said they replace things without telling you. Also Turkish places cross contaminate the grill and use so much of those ingredients she has. Thank you. All comments welcome.
I found the hygienic standard is not high in some restaurants a guy drying his sweats with his hands then give you your food. or touching his tongue then give you a piece of bread !!!!
Yes, unfortunately. We had a similar issue once we received a dessert with a hair in it. So when we told them, they removed the hair and brought it back.
The prices have gone crazy, we have been coming to Turkey 3 to 4 times a year since 2014. The prices have gone up a lot even if you take into account the inflation
I am confused...when you say if you give taxi driver a big note of 200tl or 100tl the taxi driver will keep it saying he has no change! what a big problem! 100tl is about £2 and 200tl is about £4! here in england a taxi will charge £8 for qourter of mile man! and this is in a small town called leamington spa...I would hate to go to london and use a taxi!
Aha! Good to know next time we go. I was wondering why everything was specified in so many currencies. Even historical spots entry fees! We didn't eat out in the touristy spots, and none of the lovely Turkish grannies of people in the mountains round antalya tried to scam us. Quite the contrary, it was such a lovely experience we are already planning our trip back. This time staying with the locals in the mountains ❤
Glad you like it! Yes,it is better when getting the prices in Turkish Lira. When prices are in foreign currency and you have it so stick to it, as the exchange rate will not be in your favor.
The people who live there get paid a lot less than people from the UK on minimum wage so although it’s annoying them adding the %20 to the bill at the same time it’s not a lot of money for the average tourist yet it’s a lot to the locals and could mean the difference of feeding there families that night.
Hi, adding 20% in an unethical way that is not right and unacceptable for me and many people. Increasing the items prices is acceptable, and if you would like to help where I totally agree with you, you can tip the amount of the 20% or even more. By the way, without mentioning names, the restaurant I showed its invoice is a big chain and is not in need to feed his family from this 20% and I am sure that it is not going to the waiters also.
@@tiptopturkey oh right I see yes then if that is the case then it is quite bad I assumed it was a small family run business. I’m always in support of small businesses

What happened to us today? I had Flate Tire and I called Mobile Tire shop. The first thing they did, they removed the tyre and told me the 🛞 tire is expired and to be scrapped. I was quite surprised for a minute because the car I rented from rent a car was almost zero meter. I asked them how much it’s going to cost me to replace the tire … so they picked up a used Tire and said 4500 Turkish Lira which is almost 158 euros. Quite shocking for me haha! I insisted on repairing the existing one. They had to simply pluck the nails nail and do the patching …The tire boy said no it is not possible as it’s almost to go to scrap! I CALLED POLICE 😂… the moment they came to know I’m calling police their tone changed. Everything changed and they agreed to repair the Tyre with 2000 Turkish lira ( still extremely high as normally it shouldn’t go beyond 200-400 Turkish lira at any shop. I paid them because it is a mobile shop and I didn’t want to waste our time….
Why did you contact a mobile tyre shop instead of your car rental company, surely it’s their job to fix it for you or if not for them to authorise you to get the tyre repaired replaced? I’ve rented cars in Turkey many times over the past 18 years and if I ever have any issues I call the rental company and they always resolve it.
Hi, glad you like it! There are many restaurants that serve gluten-free foods and you can definitely find gluten-free products at supermarkets. They are marked as "glutensiz" in Turkish.
Hi, in all the world, there are scammers. Everyone must be aware and not let them ruin your trip. Regardless of scammers, there are still many nice and trustworthy people in Turkey.
I found the waiters quite rude as well as greedy ,I got the bill in a cup and paid with Turkish lira with 4 x TL 200 note on a bill for a bill of TL 630 and waited for the change ,in the end I inquired where the change was and the waiter replied there was no change after tips ,I was incensed and asked for my change .The waiter did not deserve a tip because he was rude and unfriendly as well as greedy so I did not leave a tip .I would normally give a 15 % tip .But not to this waiter and would avoid this restaurant like the plague. Good customer service is half the pleasure and some restaurants look at tourists as blind cash machines .😢

Can anyone give some advice: Visiting Turkey (Sarigerme, Dalaman) next month. Coming from Scotland, and the plan was to buy a little local currency before I go and bring English GBP and try to exchange it there - is this the best way to do it, or am I better off just buying it all before I go/use a travel card? I figured I would get a better exchange rate whilst over there.
turkey is becoming much more expensive than Europe for a lot of stuff. I'm going to antalya again tomorrow and I'm sure everything is more expensive since my last trip 5 months ago
I visited Turkey this month. I was shocked at the lack of hospitality. They charge for water at the spa when leaving the sauna! They try to scare you into expensive massages because your muscles aren't healthy (or some lie) while already being massaged. The lowest effort for biggest reward. Unfortunately, tourists will not return because of this behaviour, which in turn will make them more desperate, hustle even more, abuse tourists even more..and if you don't like tourists and refuse to be hospitable, why even invite them there, what's the point? There's better ways to make money from other industries..
Im going on my very very very 1st holiday abroad in 3 months time to turkey in antalya wat is the best currency to use as ive never done this b4 as in using lira or euros im use to my very own GBP i just cant waut to get there myself wife n kids its going to a very 1st ever holiday to turkey
Hi, if it is priced in Turkish Lira then pay in Turkish Lira. Exchange in Turkey you get better rates than UK. You can also pay in GBP if it is priced in Euro, it is widely accepted.
Such a pity that your excellent video has so many people using it as an excuse to hate on Turkey and the Turkish people. I’m British (with no connection/family with anyone in Turkey) and can say in the 18 years I’ve been travelling to Kalkan without exception the Turkish people never fail to impress me with their hospitality, honesty and warmth. Some of the comments on here about the quality of restaurant food and service are just ridiculous (I’ve yet to find a restaurant in Kalkan that is even average much less poor in terms of food quality or service). To anyone who is thinking of travelling to Turkey, please ignore the religious and racially biased comments on here and speak to someone you know who has actually been to this wonderful country and listen to their experiences. What I would say however is Restaurant prices have increased massively over the past 2 years but this is a country with +70% annual inflation so don’t expect it to be the bargain destination it once was.
@@tiptopturkey Merhaba my friend and thank you for your response. No, they will not refuse, it is only about the exchange rate they charge you. Sometimes, it is fair, but some try to take advantage. They accept USD, Euro, TL and GBP.
Okay as lira is their money so this is what i will be taking as i get more for my money via pounds ...if u take euros they earn more when they are changing it to lira thats why they want other currencys instead of their own ..we dont gain but they do !!

Euro seems to be the default currency in tourists area in Antalya. Eating out is also not cheap in the old town, with prices around 20€ per person, which is comparable to western europe!
Absolutely right! Euro is widely used in Antalya. Yes, food is not cheap anymore, especially in the touristic areas.
Love your videos. I am going to antalya in May. What currency should I bring for markets & replica shops in belek ??? Thanks
Glad you liked them! 😊 If items are priced in Euro, then use Euro and don't forget to bargain the price. Enjoy your trip!
I love Bodrum Peninsula the most. Absolutely beautiful 😍
Indeed it is!
I wanted to move to Antalya this year with my kid but after all this information i changed my mind , i prefer Dubai bcs the vost of rent is same😂 but at least very high quality in everything and very safe))
Wish I could move to Dubai with my son 😂
Hi, there is a big difference in the rent between Dubai and Antalya. For the same apartment size in Antalya for USD700 or 800, you will get it for around USD 2,000 to USD 2,500 in a good neighbourhood but not the best in Dubai. I agree the quality of life there is different, but Antalya also is considered a safe city.
Thank you very much sir. Very informative!
You're welcome! 😊
@@tiptopturkey thank you :)

Thanks .I am going there in Nov 2024 , very helpful
Thanks foe sharing ur knowledge

The prices are insane. Im from san diego one of the most touristic destinations in the u.s. and was shocked how expensive turkey is. A ten dollar burger in california better be a steak burger but in antalya you'll get the most disgusting excuse of a burger for like 15 dollars. Doesn't make sense. Greece is far cheaper and the quality of food is way way better
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Indeed, prices are expensive in Turkey now.
Thanks for the information

Keep it up man u doing very good job I love your videos , I'm coming to antalya for the first time in September I can't wait I'm so excited about it 🎉
Glad you like our videos! Hope you have a great time! 😊
Good information, thank you
Glad you like it!😊
Thanks it just a life saver i am coming this monday here i am a bit affected as i am jewish but i hope that it should be ok
You are welcome! Don't worry, hope you will have a nice trip.
I'm going to Antayla Side in october I'll watch out for the exchange rate
👍 Hope you have a great time!
I am going next week Antalya booked in advance excursion Cappadocia 2 day trip without balloon 55£ is it expensive or it is fine?
Hi, I think it is not bad. So you should have 1 night at a hotel, is it included? The ride is about 6 hours plus from Antalya to Cappadocia one way.
Great info/super-helpful!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Glad it's helpful! 😊
Video için teşekkür ederim I love Turkey and I will move there! 😁
Agree with you 100%…. It’s bad!
The prices have gone crazy, we have been coming to Turkey 3 to 4 times a year since 2014. The prices have gone up a lot even if you take into account the inflation
100% true
I am confused...when you say if you give taxi driver a big note of 200tl or 100tl the taxi driver will keep it saying he has no change! what a big problem! 100tl is about £2 and 200tl is about £4! here in england a taxi will charge £8 for qourter of mile man! and this is in a small town called leamington spa...I would hate to go to london and use a taxi!
Thank you so much for your video and very useful information.
Glad you liked it! 😊
Glad to hear that you had a good experience. Enjoy your next one! 😊
Great insight. Question, are you saying the you should always pay in Turkish lira?
Glad you like it! Yes,it is better when getting the prices in Turkish Lira. When prices are in foreign currency and you have it so stick to it, as the exchange rate will not be in your favor.
we just been there and stayed in the Club Porto Amore 5 mins from the airport on the coast if was Beautiful
Thanks for sharing your experience and it's good that you enjoyed your time
The people who live there get paid a lot less than people from the UK on minimum wage so although it’s annoying them adding the %20 to the bill at the same time it’s not a lot of money for the average tourist yet it’s a lot to the locals and could mean the difference of feeding there families that night.
Hi, nice to hear that from you. We also like to support small family businesses and especially tipping the good waiters, taxis etc. But when something is odd, we say no.
Very helpful, and honest advice and information! Thank you!
I laughed so much with the “ How would you like your chicken? ….rare, medium, or well done…😅Oh My Word!
Great advice.

Sorry to hear that! One of the worst scams! But well done from your side!
Thank you for letting me know 😊
You're welcome! 😊
Great video Abi thank you :) haha this is why i left turkey to much headache and scaming going on
Glad you liked the video!😊 Sorry to hear that.
Hey thanks for your post, I have a genuine question.... My friend is gluten intolerant...
Do restaurants and supermarkets respect this allergy
Hi, glad you like it! There are many restaurants that serve gluten-free foods and you can definitely find gluten-free products at supermarkets. They are marked as "glutensiz" in Turkish.
Going to Turkey for the first time, very grateful for all the advice 👍

hello please can you tell me how much should we tip the staff in the hotel resorts?

Same thing happend to me with Wizzair regarding exchange rate
You will be scammed and ripped off in Turkey, there is no way of avoiding it. Just try to minimise the damage
Hi, in all the world, there are scammers. Everyone must be aware and not let them ruin your trip. Regardless of scammers, there are still many nice and trustworthy people in Turkey.
Turkey got expensive. I don't know about the services. But the increase in prices. Hope it will change.
Yes, it is getting more and more expensive, but the government now is trying to fight the inflation.
Hello sir
Please do you have any videos about resort in belek like beaches or transport
Hi, you can check this video, it might help you.

Absolutely true. You did the right thing.
Hi I am going to Antalya next month from the UK. I was hoping to just use my credit card at restaurants for excursions etc. Will this be okay or shall I convert some Turkish Lira in the uk before I come?
You can use your credit card. If you need cash, exchange in Türkiye you get much better rates than the UK.
Another great video, Can any one tell me where to buy good quality Turkish tea in UK?

I’m from the USA I’ll be a solo traveller I’ll be headed there in January any advice on how much I should exchange before I head to Turkey
If you are coming to the center of Antalya 50 to 80 USD will be enough, then you can exchange in the market.
Good tips 👍
Thank you!
Can you pick up euros at the bank teller machine in Antalya?
Few machine beside the touristic area might allow especially during the season but not sure which ones. Usually it is mentioned on them but won't give sometimes.
I have been living in Istanbul for 1yrs and half so I know what you're talking about bro I want encourage you this people they don't like people who talk about their country their currency' avoid problems while you're there
Will be in Turkey in two days. Thanks for the info🙂✨✨👍

Is it best to pay in Turkish lira only to not get scammed ? Thanks for sharing all
Hi, you are welcome! Yes, it is better when items are prices in Turkish Lira. If you find items priced in Euro or USD so better stick to it.
Keep exposing the Turkish Hospitality.
Im going to Antalya in 3 weeks. We want to visit Land of legends, do you have any tips?
Best time to visit is around 7 PM. You can enjoy it in daylight and at night. There is a water fountain show at 10 PM. If you are going to visit the water park, then go for a full day but book your tickets online first. Enjoy your trip!
@@tiptopturkey do you know where to buy the tickets cheap? on their site its 88 euros
Can anyone give some advice:
Visiting Turkey (Sarigerme, Dalaman) next month. Coming from Scotland, and the plan was to buy a little local currency before I go and bring English GBP and try to exchange it there - is this the best way to do it, or am I better off just buying it all before I go/use a travel card?
I figured I would get a better exchange rate whilst over there.
Hi, exchange a small amount in Scotland just to manage your arrival. Then bring GBP and exchange in Turkey, you will get a better rate.

turkey is becoming much more expensive than Europe for a lot of stuff. I'm going to antalya again tomorrow and I'm sure everything is more expensive since my last trip 5 months ago
Yes, you will be surprised.😊
Thanks for this info ❤

Thank you for all your advice. But what you said about restaurants, like bad exchange rates and plastic in the food that's all normal in England 😂
You are welcome! It seems all the world is losing good service. 😉
Thank you for your input! Glad to hear that you have been enjoying Kalkan for so long.
@@tiptopturkey Merhaba my friend and thank you for your response.
Turkey really feels like a second home for me and my family so I hope I didn’t come across too aggressive but I know how the Turkish people have been suffering over the past few years and when I see so many negative posts to your helpful videos I felt I needed to redress the balance a little.
Merhaba 😊 we are glad you shared your experience with us, and we're happy to hear that people are still fully enjoying. But like anywhere, one might have an amazing experience while another might get scammed, which ruins their trip. Unfortunately, the economic situation increased the scammers, but that doesn't change the beauty of Turkey and its sweet people.
Have you measure how many comments you have done inside this video pro Turkey?
@geogeo1261 Those are not pro Turkey. In this video, highlighting the bad experiences and facts that should not happen in a beautiful country like Türkiye. They should work on those steps to maintain high standards. In all our videos, we encourage people to visit and enjoy Türkiye. But when there are scammers, tourists should know about them and be aware not to ruin their trip and avoid those who are ruining the reputation on Türkiye.
Can you use sterling £..?
Hello i wanted to ask what was best to take to antalya
Lira or euros please
Hi, take Euro and exchange in Antalya when needed. If prices are in Euro, then make payment in Euro.
Althou the country is lira ?? What will they do refused my money, ? 🙈
Yes, have lira with you, but exchange your foreign currency in Turkey, you will get better rates than your country. Enjoy your trip!
