Anyone who uses the shades of WW2 to justify going to war is either an idiot or a lying scumbag. WW2 has its own unique historical context and is impossible to understate with having a complete understanding around all the event that led up to and of the seminal catastrophe of the 20th century, WW1.
No one is the new Hitler because no one or nation experienced wining one of greatest wars humanity has ever fought on the eastern front only to have its armies surrender on the west while still on enemy territory, followed by a hyperinflation that saw middle class families pumping out their daughter to get food. All the while a complete circulation of the elites happens as groups within Germany with wider social networks used their contacts to borrow foreign currently and but massive amounts of German assets at knocked down prices.
Only to turn to a party that gets them into an even larger war that they fight like Israel on steroids.
No one is the new Hitler, Hitler wasn’t even what people mean by saying Hitler.

I was in Odessa in 2019 as an international observer of the memorial to those who were killed at the protest to the coup. Nazi gangs showed up to try and intimidate the thousands who came for the memorial at the House of Trade Unions. It was very clear that among those who came for the memorial were groups of men who were there to protect people from the Nazis. It appeared to me that they were coordinating and were part of an organization. I would not be surprised if there is an underground movement in Odessa in support of the Russians.

My understanding is that from 1991 and going forward there was a big problem with everyday population couples being not able to have and pay to raise children, not so for elites and oligarchs, so UKR lacks young men and some trying to resist and also not to conscript too many below 25... to avoid tragedy of no adequate future national population.

Another problem is that the nature of this offensive is precisely one that limits losses on tanks. The infantry moves in, Arty and Airforce missiles and Drones pound, and Infantry moves in. Recently they have had success using small motorbikes to rush to a new village and occupy parts of it rather than an expensive APC infantry carrier. The Ukr Grand offensive was defeated without the use of mass tanks, or many tanks at all. Anti Tank squads, Air Support, Guns were the winners.

it has amused me repeatedly over the years how rich folk throw money at a problem and it disappears. They are interested in admin as the main focus of business and fail to understand the value simple skill in production. Skill is a function of spreadsheets, and manipulating bank accounts for them; whereas working skills which are fast being lost in the west, are somehow devalued to semi skills. Our population is still able to relearn the trades, but capital really only wants to make money with money avoiding the tedious task of making something well; so they no longer need the skilled worker, who they think can learn a real trade in a short training course.

One good thing about the whole COVID lockdown nonsense was that it revealed which work was actually necessary to keep society running, and how much was (what David Graeber called) "bullshit jobs". An economy based on "financial services" is an economy built on hot air. When dedollarisation happens, the western collapse will make the fall of the USSR look like a picnic.

They only delegate responsibility but not real power, a degree of separation I suppose. Personally I think they know its over economically and are just looking to maintain control and wealth when it can't be glossed over anymore and reality bites.

A couple minor quibbles. From context what he is referring to as "gunpowder" is actually "propellant" used for launching projectiles. While chemically similar to that commonly used in small arms ammunition it requires different production methods and production at a scale to feed artillery in a conflict of this size is orders of magnitude beyond the existing infrastructure. Far worse is that I've heard the primary source of TNT for US shell production was located in a part of eastern Ukraine that became Russian held territory at the very beginning of the SMO. Absolutely *NOTHING* was done to address this issue even after it became obvious the conflict was going to outlast US stockpiles of shells.

Nobel invented dynamite, which is nitroglycerin-based explosive product for civil engineering. TNT is distinct from nitroglycerin and a component in most formulations of explosive material for artillery shells. TNT content is between 20% to 80%. Other special chemicals are needed as well, though as there are different formulations, TNT is probably the only common component that cannot be substituted at all. The very surprising thing is that although explosives for civilian engineering and military applications are basically quite alike, TNT-based formulations can withstand long-term storage and adverse conditions. These qualities are not needed in civilian use and TNT is relatively expensive, hence it is not used in engineering. Civilian explosives, on the other hand, would need lot of adaption for use in shells.

As to the US Army not procuring 155 mm artillery shells, don't forget about the budget SEQUESTRATION during the Obama years. There was a tit-for-tat between Obama and the Republicans where the Republicans were demanding budget cuts and that if no compromise was reached there would be across the board, non-selective budget sequestration across the government... as military spending was a priority for Republicans Obama was happy to see the MIC not exempted and take a hit. Therefore, it is not surprising to see the results of that battle manifesting today as a shortage of 155 mm artillery shells. It may also be why the US is behind Russia in hypersonic missile development as well? FYI

obviously, they wouldn't consider the risk some mystery shrouded ancient mythology. on the contrary, there would appear to be a realistic chance that they might meet some "friends" from the recent past.
presumably this type of event would not be popular with males, young females or affluent ukrainians, right?
perhaps this is some established union process for negotiation. great. no problem.

Whatever you do when you go in there you will be doing when you retire. And they don't pay you for the years you have been doing it. As you said these companies have no patriotism, it's only about the money they can make. And the young people of America feel the same way. What's in it for me. We learned it from the corporate elites. So there you are, everyone wants someone else to do it, but every one else feels the same, someone else can do these nasty jobs.
