I was 20 in 1986. It was a fun time. No smartphones or internet. Just talking to friends and random people, having drinks and dancing. I had a mullet, spikey on top, high waisted dress pants.Pretty much wore the same outfit when I went out, just a different shirt. I used to hang around with car people as well ( gearheads}. Some weekends we would just cruise around town music blasting and park where all the others parked. We would check out each others cars, talk , chill and cruise some more. I'm now 53 and It's Saturday night as I type this while I'm wearing sweatpants ,and getting ready for bed. When I was young I used to look forward to the future thinking how awesome it was going to be, not realising I was living the best part of my life.I love cups of tea, gardening, pottering and peace and quiet now. Enjoying a different phase of life.
I think that the past doesn't exists. The present keeps on morphing. The issue is, that as time moves on things amuse us less and less so we become a bit numb.
Feel for you mate! Im a year older than you and for me, 85 was one of the best years of my life. Even though i had a crap job, i had a beautiful girlfriend, loads of mates and somehow managed to stretch my crap pay going out 5 nights a week. My biggest regret getting older? Losing touch with my mates, both male and female. I think of them a lot of the time and miss those people so much and often wonder what they are up to. Probably doing the same boring day to day stuff as me! Just hope they are all doing good.

01:44 Sharon and Tracey practiced their moves to perfection just waiting for the weekend to be discovered. Today you can find them at the local boozer still waiting......
I certainly liked it. But every generation tends to envy the previous it seems. Reflecting on the 80's is not an easy nostalgic trip to take for an 80's baby. Having experienced the 80's as I did with a certain silliness and innocence, one realizes that growing up in the 80's was only fun while it lasted, everything that came after was just a reminder that it was never going to be that good, ever. again. Still love the 90's though too.
I saw this video on Facebook and that same guy in green posted that it was him. Sure enough his Facebook profile resemble him without any hair now in his fifties. Time flies my friends. Enjoy life has it comes. The girl on 1:07 is very cute!
I'm 31 now so I was barely a year old when this was filmed. But I do faintly remember people still dressing and looking this way in the early 90s. It's so weird watching this now and all of a sudden remembering actually living in this time period.
I remember some of my class mates and a few friends of mine from HS and College dressing like these kids). Oh and my first year of the bar/night club experience looked similar like this. Then just a couple of years after this period the Acid House/Techno and Industrial scene started to rage. Awww the good ol' days LOL!
1:05 She Sells Sanctuary for sure. Lovely look. Now it's 2020 and this video seems like the future and we are still living in the Victorian era with all those new puritans.
There was a club on beach side in Daytona Beach FL called 701 South, on Sunday nights they called it Sunday Bloody Sunday, we looked, dress & danced like the people in this club, all thou it ,701 was half the size,I remember the lines to get in,so much fun ,so many great memories, so much great music & beautiful people, especially the guys ! 80's rule !
A time, a moment, the 80's shaped the youth of the time. The perfect escape pod, where you could be who ever you wanted, and enjoy real talent, real music.........👍👍
This is what the 80's really were like. The different Fashion Styles and Music Genres. so Original and Unique we didn't conform to what society thought we should. I was in my 20's then and gladly go back.
People expressed themselves using 5,423 different genres, and it was totally radical. Also, not how much people were emoting and engaged....and not glued to a cell phone.
The 80s was a time of creativity and experimenting with fashion. It was the height of the punk rock era. People put more emphasis on looking unique and shocking rather than bland and traditional. Towards the late 90s-2000s, that creativity began to fade and people started just recycling the same thing over and over.
Cara esse vídeo é uma raridade, feliz de quem teve a brilhante ideia de filmar e guardar até hoje. Quem está se vendo atualmente nesta gravação deve dar muita risada e sentir falta dessa época de ouro!

We used to go to a club called Visage in Orlando back in the day. They played new wave and goth music. I loved and still do all my black clothes, and make up. We were mischievous, but we were not bad like I see kids today. I hung out with a group that we decided to go to Denny's after Visage was done for the night, while the others all went to a restaurant called, Wags. Eventually though everyone followed what we were doing and started also going to Denny's. There would be like 50 to 75 goth style people all showing up for Denny's, and Denny's would have to give us the whole back room area, as there was so many of us. lol! The stares we'd get from the older folks eating there. hahaha! Those were awesome times! Btw, we have reunion events every year now, for those who used to go to Visage back in the day. Visage is no longer there, but we all go to the I Bar in Orlando for the Visage reunion, and they play all the old songs we danced to back in the day. 😁
Miss the attitude of the 80s you had to go get it nothing came to you on a web page, ;) peeps had game and we took the time to look good first impressions you know. We had an innocence that's since been lost we all loved those days so much to learn and see... It was in my opinion (90s also) the last of the freedom of living how you wanted. The inet and social media tells everyone what to do and how to think, why youth today find causes to jump on board with, can't be a free thinker or doer anymore, not 😎. Sad really my oldest children are in early to mid 20s now and they all have 80s playlists and look at me and moms pics and say "you guys were beautiful and so happy and free" yes we were but like anything else it had its bumers too. But I'd gladly go back to the late 80s or early 90s in a second!
Exactly! There were no "influencers" telling you what to wear or how to do your makeup. Not only that, the people who stood out were taking a major risk of being bullied or even beat up. I tried to explain to my 13 year old niece how having 'wild' colored hair meant you were purposefully putting yourself out there as an individual and how I got picked on endlessly for having blue and purple hair even in the early 90s. She couldn't understand why. It was a different time. Now 9 year olds have pink hair and it means nothing.
@@natalie8212 these "influencers" are so useless. Everyone trying to be a streamer. Gonna wind up with an entire generation of people that will lose their looks eventually, and be 50 years old with no real job experience or qualifications. If you would have told me 20 years ago people could sit at home on their asses playing video games and make a living, I would have fell over laughing and not believed it. Some of these people are in for a harsh reality check when they wind up old and broke because they didnt save what money they made, and now dont have an audience anymore

These were my sweet years... at least i had some hope in the futur, and the music helped me to feel the energy and force that was in me.... Now I'm 51, and the world is such a terrible mess..... hapiness, peace and freedom from care are over !
Badou F yes but we are them they are us we still have that in us and WE can make a difference! We have that locked in us all and if we could harness that energy and send it out......man, gen X has the force but life has beat us down, find the force and use it!
I used to go here. I waited an extra 5 minutes for my friend to put on his mascara. He was a goth. I missed the 80's. We were so innocent. I wish I can go back and hang out with same crowd.
The only good thing at this time about then, is that the girl in green would have become a celebrity. Now we would know everything about her. We would have many pics and videos of her and some interviews on television. What a Hottie! 80's style rules!

01:44 Sharon and Tracey practiced their moves to perfection just waiting for the weekend to be discovered. Today you can find them at the local boozer still waiting......
1:42 these girls had been a massive meme for party time here in Brazil for a long time =)
Yesss hahahaha
Same in Barcelona hshshaha
She is famous in Europe because of the song Later bitches- Prince Karm :)
They practiced for hours in the washroom mirror at home I'm sure lol
Everybody seems to be having such a good time. Wonderfull.
Generation good look styles, especially in the hair, very cool.
I wish i grew up in the 80's!
ashley90291 You would love it! You are so pretty.
You still can. I do
I certainly liked it.
Hermosa!.
You really should I was lucky
year 2000's no one want's to dance. Just standing around.
The 80s everybody love to dance
I love to see the genuine smiles of these people having fun and living 🥰
What a diversity of hairstyles...👍🏻👌🏻❤️
The boy with the green hair from :33- 1:02 is mesmerizing to me for some reason. 💗
It's his mischievous smile. :-)
Miki Lynn Really? His face looks like Crispin Glover. In other words gross.
I saw this video on Facebook and that same guy in green posted that it was him. Sure enough his Facebook profile resemble him without any hair now in his fifties. Time flies my friends. Enjoy life has it comes. The girl on 1:07 is very cute!
Okay I’m glad I’m not alone lol, he’s a cutie. I’m curious what his name is just so could see how he aged lol
Lol same here. Idk what it is
I love how that guy's dancing at 4:08. Proud to be from So Cal
Before the explosion of cellphones and tattoos. Just style and class is all you needed back then.
When you dance with sunglasses you have the advantage of being cool and anonymous, it's a perfect extra.
Those were the days!!! The music, clothes, make-up... omg i'm 50 now time flies
1:05 She Sells Sanctuary for sure. Lovely look. Now it's 2020 and this video seems like the future and we are still living in the Victorian era with all those new puritans.
Yeah, even left wing is puritan. I would say that it's more fascism than puritan, if you don't follow commands then you are ruled out.
1:05 Damn straight!
Everyone looked so gorgeous...
80's rule !
Glad these videos exist!
A time, a moment, the 80's shaped the youth of the time. The perfect escape pod, where you could be who ever you wanted, and enjoy real talent, real music.........👍👍
Nice to see such a wide range of fashion styles all sharing the dance floor
This is what the 80's really were like. The different Fashion Styles and Music Genres. so Original and Unique we didn't conform to what society thought we should. I was in my 20's then and gladly go back.
Ahh! Music we could dance to. Grooving
wow why is everyone so much hotter in the 80's
Because it's a video selection of hot people :P
Except girls now have way more developed bodies
People expressed themselves using 5,423 different genres, and it was totally radical. Also, not how much people were emoting and engaged....and not glued to a cell phone.
The 80s was a time of creativity and experimenting with fashion. It was the height of the punk rock era. People put more emphasis on looking unique and shocking rather than bland and traditional. Towards the late 90s-2000s, that creativity began to fade and people started just recycling the same thing over and over.
I think they were happier and had more income.
Cara esse vídeo é uma raridade, feliz de quem teve a brilhante ideia de filmar e guardar até hoje. Quem está se vendo atualmente nesta gravação deve dar muita risada e sentir falta dessa época de ouro!

If anyone knows how to contact the girl at 2:14 I would love to reconnect with her. We use to work together at Licorice Pizza Records in Clairemont (her name was Juliana. So long ago!) Miss these days and going to all of these clubs...
Hope you find out AFAIK there has only been 2 ppl found from these vids
Boris and I both worked there as well when Juliana did (Licorice Pizza/Sam Goodies), so we must know each other. Haven’t seen her in many years, would love to reconnect as well!
Borisandchromeluxx@yahoo.com
I just now saw this comment... I think I remember Boris (wasn't he a film student or was going to do a short film and I remember he asked me to do the music for it.) I'll send you guys an email so we can reconnect, curious who Chrome is? I remember Peter from there, and Pat who was a huge influence on me musically (more than she probably ever realized!) and of course our manager Andrew Beacock.
email sent!
Contact “super jock KOOL T” he was the da many nights....he knows everybody!!!
I was there in the 80s best times for me ever...all aboard choo choo...
Already by 1990 all the fun went down the toilet, it wasn't the same anymore

@erikmuniz6031 exactly, ugh
When the time-machine is invented, I'm headed for this place!
haha same here :)
Santa Monica CA and Hollywood were awesome places to be in a nightclub in the 80's.
Buen canal, original, único y de paso un viaje al pasado (que hubiese amado vivir en esa época en todos sus aspectos) tengo 28 años , y afirmo que Madonna influyó!!!
I waz in my 16s when I was partying like this the high energy disco music and the alternative rock music was and always will be number 1
The Cult always and forever❤🎸👄
Always 4eva!!
Thank you Isabella!!
Everyone smoking, drinking and a bit of mdma...great times❤️
I'm new here. THANKS ‼️four these retro videos. 🤩🤩🤩... In those years my mother never let me go to a disco. 😪
4:03 she needs me! The genres where great! New beat, goth, pop, and freestyle. Cool club to have been there. I was 15 in 1987, would have been great to be there dancing at this club!
+David M. Ratcliff Was new wave, synth-pop, techno, techno-rock, electro, some goth, urban-pop, but not really freestyle.
Wow! What a great period! So glad I was young lived through the 80s.
@Don Videito … She reminds me of Kim Wilde ( the 1980's Kim obviously … )

There was so much good music back then unlike today. Why couldn't I have been older?! 😩

Indeed, the CLASSIEST young lady at Stratus, featured in videos #1, #3 & #7. I believe her name was "Jeanne Marie"; is what I read somewhere, on someone's blog, that was posted some time ago.
BCRadio
I miss this time...except cigarettes on the dance floor (ack). Around this time I was dancing my arse off to a bunch of New Wave bands at Club Post Nuclear in Laguna Beach, CA. :)
Wow! I haven't heard of that club in FOREVER...we lived in Huntington and used to drive up Laguna Canyon Drive to get to club Post Nuclear! It was far, so we only went a few times, but the people there looked like the ones in this video. This was 85-86, before The Cult went Metal and things started going downhill.

I remember going for a haircut and asking the stylist to leave it longer in the back and she looked at me and said no ! That time I almost had a mullet. The 80s was so much fun.
I wonder if these people signed waivers acknowledging that they might end up on youtube someday.
Yes. Because UA-cam was a thing in 1980 whatever.
i'm sure many people never knew they'd end up on a site called youtube lol
Yeah right.....whatever !!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Internet. About 15% of the general public even had computers in their homes in 1987-88 - .
