Foggy days by the coast are magical.

Beautiful trip, area!
Yes it was! 💙🦋💙
Hi Jan, love your channel. This was one of my favorites. It made me happy, joyful and sad that I am stuck working to survive and can't be free. I don't know if you realize how much your channel means to people who don't have the finances or knowhow to travel. Thank you so much!😊
Thank you! Knowhow comes with doing it since it's really easier. Finances are another matter. 💙🦋💙
Im so excited for you & your butterflies traveling US Hwy 1. Before gps, & before I had my van, I had this route mapped out for me by AAA. It was 4 thick flip books & took them a couple weeks to put together. I was to go due East from Indiana to Route 1, then south to FL. Life happened & plans changed. So I will vicariously be traveling along with all of you. TY so much for sharing.
That is awesome! I wish you could come but happy to have you as a virtual passenger. 💙🦋💙
Love the sound of the seagulls. Can almost smell the salt water. Thank you for your videos!
People I know in Maine say when walking in the woods, carry bear bells in your pocket. Christmas bells work fine. Jingle them as you walk.
Bears don't attack, but not good to startle a bear, especially a mama bear with cubs. The bells mean the bears will hear you coming and they will move on to avoid you. Bear spray - pepper spray - is sold in Maine stores.
At the ending with all that fog...first thing comes to my mind is "Dark Shadows!" (that daily) show that we weren't suppose to watch as kids but always did 😅
I remember that! 😎👍

Want an awesome adventure. So beautiful and a beer with clam chowder is right up my alley. I've been wanting to get back to Maine for a few years now. Have fun and be safe. Happy Travelling
Thank you, Dee. 💙🦋💙
Beautiful sunshine. Calm water. No storms. Gorgeous scenery! Thank you so much, Jan.
Glad you enjoyed it! 💙🦋💙
What a beautiful drive!! I haven’t been that far north. Maine is magical with the forests, mountains and coastlines!!❤️❤️❤️
What a lovely drive and video. I look in Google maps, so I can drive (and dream) with you all. I love it ❤
Glad to have you as a virtual passenger. 💙🦋💙
I went to Lubec and the West Quoddy Head Light two years ago. It was a wonderful experience. I’m glad you got to experience it. ☺️
Thanks! 💙🦋💙
Beautiful views. Sounds like you got the foghorn
Fog horns, especially in heavy fog, are such a haunting sound. 💙🦋💙
Jan, Looks like you had a beeya with chowdah. Always wicked tasty.
It was! I'm learning to speak Yankee. 🙂👍
Ha, Feeling Groovy. The view is nice at Fisherman’s wharf. Sat there a good share of an afternoon. And the lighthouse. Thanks for a great video that brought back some good memories for me. You did get the foghorn! Yay
Wow, you were where the US first sees the sunrise! How cool is that? If that was your first bowl of clam chowder Jan, you couldn't have picked a better place. I know someone born and raised in Maine and Fisherman's Wharf is told to be the best of the best! That sunset was breathtaking. What a peaceful drive. Serenity came to my mind.
I wanted to see the sunrise there but it was too foggy to get up that early. It's still a goal in the fall! 💙🦋💙
I have been there. So beautiful. It was part of my trip to photograph puffins. I really want to go back.
I didn't get to see puffins. But I did hear loons! 🙂👍
You have to take a boat from Cutler, ME to Machias Seal Island to see the puffins. But, I sure would have loved to photograph the loons. I just love the way they sound. Puffins, not so much. They just grunt, which is kind of funny, actually.
Never heard a Puffin. Sure are cute. 🙂
👏🏼🥰💞
💙🦋💙
Oh Yes!😊
💙🦋💙
Boy how this town is changing
💙🦋💙
Looks like it's worth the drive.
For sure. 👍
Wow, I just missed you... it is so cool to see a place on here that I just left myself! I ate at the Fisherman's Warf but also added the Wags Wool knit shop to my agenda, all in Lubec. We went to see the same Lighthouse, haha, I was giddy to see this video!
Oh, too bad we missed you, Cynthia. We have a Facebook group for women who are interested in traveling and camping. It's for women only and I hope you can join us. A safe place to exchange information about nomad adventures, caravans and meetups.

This trip is on my list!! Will y'all do it again in the future? If not, will you please post the complete itinerary? (places you stayed, etc).
I'd also like to drive from SC to Southern California!!!
You sound like an adventurer! It will all be on Butterfly Tracks. 💙🦋💙
Loved this, thank you. Could almost taste the clam chowder and cold Blue Moon. Double YUM!!!
Looks like this could be my new favorite place...so serene
💙🦋💙
Sky is looking pretty clear in that part of Maine. FYI there is a poor air quality for Maine today thru Tuesday. Wildfires in Canada are causing it. Up here at the top of Maine it looks like fog is lingering close to the ground but it's smoke! I hope you have some N-95's. They'll help if you have problems. When running the air conditioner put it on recycled air or max cool. This will help too. I'm staying inside today for sure
Luckily, we temporarily left Maine to explore nearby states. We'll be back though. 🙂
@@ButterflyTracks maybe I'll get to meet you in person when you come back 😊
This is on my bucket list for sure. I have been to ME but only when I was still driving the truck so needless to say I didn’t see much but the highway.
It's your turn then! 💙🦋💙
Thanks for taking us along! I really enjoyed the video! ❤❤
You are so welcome, Lisa! 💙🦋💙
Only us "oldies" knew what was coming..😅. Always look forward to your videos Jan.. Beautiful scenery!
Thank you. 💙🦋💙 More to come!
Well I was headed to Bar Harbor Maine in a few weeks but think I will go to Lubec first via Canada then go on to Bar Harbor from there!! Beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.
I think you'll love it. 💙🦋💙
@@ButterflyTracks I'm excited I am heading that way Tuesday but the way I travel it may take me a week to get there 🤣
When I was in high school my family rented a house on a lake in Farmington, Me. It was the last week in July and the first week in August. The water was freezing we couldn’t swim in it. We had to light a fire in the fireplace every night to keep warm. The town closed up at 6:00pm. We went to Acadia National Park. The thing I liked most about that was the blowhole where the water would shoot out up into the air.
It was just too cold for me.
That blow hole is called Thunderhole. When the waves crash in it sounds like thunder
I didn’t remember the name of it. But it was pretty cool.
Yes, it was cold when I was there. I bet it still gets hot in Maine, just a shorter season.
I want to go there. 😍
If I lived in US it would be in a place as this.
I would spend summers there. I'm not good at winter. 🦋
I sang it for you
Love that song, just not when I sing it. Thanks for singing along. 🙂
Beautiful! What is the temp? Asking for a friend in deep, hot, south Texas. Lol
The highs were in the 60s and humid chilly when I was there. 🥶
LOL…ya mean your 1st cup of clam chowder for the day?
Yes, it's an addiction now. Maybe I should buy a case of canned chowder to make myself sick of it. 🤔
Nope…just lean into the joy of it. I love mine with a lots of black pepper, a little hot sauce, and a few oyster crackers sprinkled on top. 💚
I really wanted to join you, but the a/c won't hold in my car and I have a little dog. I'll have to follow on UA-cam instead. I tried so hard to make my first trip, but it's not working out yet. I would have had a "cooked" weiner dog. Poor puppy! It looked so beautiful there. I've always wanted to drive up from CT and see it myself, but don't want to be alone yet when I get there. I want to meet and socialize and LEARN what works for others. I read online that "they" (could be government, or Army Corp of Engineers) are selling off lighthouses to people or organizations who will refurbish and continue to have the open to the public. This could be somewhat wrong, because I seem to not hear "straight" or the complete story all the time. I remember what pertains to me mostly. And, P.S., It's hot in CT now, and it's still not summer yet.
If you can make it to higher elevation, you'll find cooler places to camp. Eould love to see you at a meetup. 💙🦋💙
In your last live stream rerun, I heard you mention that you wrote 2 books. Can u share more about them, or are they posted someplace that I may see them?
I don't make money from these anymore but they are available online from all bookstores and Amazon.
