  • As 2022 wraps up we wanted to highlight progress made in the year and the roadmap ahead.
Hermeus founders AJ Piplica, Glenn Case, Skyler Shuford, and Mike Smayda present the 'State of the Company'.
The year started strong with a $100 million series B funding round. We've grown our world class team to nearly 100 employees and massively built out our facilities to support our leading edge manufacturing capabilities.
This confluence of people and hardware has led us to some major technical milestones. We demonstrated turbojet to ramjet mode transition with our engine, Chimera, and finalized the design for our first vehicle, QUARTERHORSE. Quarterhorse will reach Mach 4+ speeds and fly in 2024.
We also now have our first peek at DARKHORSE, an uncrewed aerial system that will serve defense and intelligence customers. Darkhorse will have multi-mission flexibility, full reusability, and be capable of sustained hypersonic flight - a capacity no country in the world has.
We're developing each of these platforms with our sights set on making commercial hypersonic flight a reality with HALCYON, a passenger aircraft capable of traveling 125 transatlantic routes at Mach 5 speeds. That's New York to London in 90 minutes.
We're incredibly proud of everything our team has accomplished so far, and excited about what's to come.

I don't even work here and I'm inspired to be a better aerospace engineer - what amazing speeches. Congratulations to the team from Canada!!

Not gonna lie. You guys seem too good to be true. Start up that is doing things that many other big names couldn't.
Hope this all works out and I'm very excited to see more details and testing!

They are another "Nikola" until they prove they are not one, looking at the incoming recession I would say it maybe focused now on selling to whoever has cash to burn.
A big red flag with not so fancy CGI.

Separate negative oxegyn and positive oxygen with hydro bubblers into individual tanks then cryogenic mix spray when you pull the ignition switch to mix into the fuel tank for constant propulsion. ❤ your work.

Exciting stuff! they saved the best guy for last. He's good at pumping you up.
I really hope they are successful. The only bummer that I see, is their biggest aircraft, only hold `~20, for the rich (concorde people).
But I understand new tech is pricey, and you have to charge that premium to offset R&D costs.
But I would hope if all their plans are successful (big IF), that the next version be for the middle class, putting their crosshairs on Boeing & Airbus for sitting on their ass for decades.

Great video but then again I wonder what the point of it is. Lockheed on one of their twitter posts openly stated when talking about the Sr-71 "The fastest aircraft ever acknowledged". It was along those lines. My point is - Why are other private companies trying to beat something that clearly other defense contractors have built?

and what good does that do us? Were still shuttled around like cattle packed in a 50's looking aircraft, sub-sonic the whole damn way.
Companies like this are desperately needed.

Ok Sr-71 is very high cost each operation. Then your going to jump to hypersonic?😢

Aircraft development hasn't gone backwards. It's gone towards efficiency and engine iterations. This presentation is missing some key pieces of data... shows how inexperienced the team is

I noticed that, too, but to their credit, that data may not exist yet. My concern is more with why they have an la office if they are based in Atlanta.
