I thought the cooling fan is great - maybe not for a drone but for a surface vehicle or something where there isn’t enough air flow to cool but you still want digital.

The latency is 25-35ms depending on which goggles you use. I have already posted a video search in the community section. I am using HDO goggles with the VRX, I have a video link in the moment I turn on the VRX. Check it out. We are developing OpenIPC goggles but I can’t release any more information. Depending on the antennas you have on the ground station you can reach more than 100km. The output TX power is 32dbm max. That’s more than 1200mWatts! Cheers mate!😊🍻

There are some videos with open ipc freestyle, but its just dvr and they didnt say anythink about it, somethink like comparisom... And they are just small channels, somethink like me😂 with dvr😂
Great work on this! I am thinking of switching from my analog setup on my fixed wing fleet. I have an Eachine LCD monitor I connect to my transmitter. Is there an equivalent setup to receive signal from this rig? BTW - I did setup OpenHD and had it running a while ago, but found it too bulky for use.

For long range I use AWUS036ACH but the ASUS AC56 is also a good option. Both are excellent receivers. You could use smaller receivers for short range or RTL8812eu modules. Cheers mate!😊🍻

Looks pretty high quality. Is there any estimations on the price, or any rough estimates you could give us maybe? Also even tho I feel like I got the general idea (assuming lower pcb in the stack is for rf stuff i.e. wifi card and top pcb in the stack for SoC etc.) I think a sort of "tare down" would be a cool video. YEESH... it's freakin huge though. :( Definitely not competing with any commercial digital setups yet. It's a good start, but not ready for drones and planes (unless they are massive). It's a cool project but still much too large to be practical. I have entire FPV drones that weigh less than that camera system.

Why not place the FC connector and the camera connector on the same side? It would be more convenient for connecting on the quadcopters, as the VTX is usually located behind the FC and the camera is at the front.
Because there’s no room for both MIPI and the FC connector in only one side of the board. That’s why we included a much longer cable for the MIPI camera so that it will easily reach any quadcopter frame. Cheers mate!😊🍻

You guys came a long way since the first model, but that big honking cooling fan is unfortunate..

I think the fan will be optional if the heatsink is exposed to airflow, ie. while you're flying. Maybe Mario can do some thermal tests for us.

The cooling fan is only for the internal WiFi module. If you use an external WiFi module you can remove completely the heatsink.

It's too big for a 5" freestyle. The drone would fly like a pig with that much mass on it.
