It's a measure of the esteem that the former Imperial Russian dancers held "Paquita" when after the Revolution, Anna Pavlova suggested to her fellow emigrées Mathilde Kchessinskaya and Lyubov Egorova that they stage the divertissement. Pavlova was reported to have said to Kchessinskaya, "you should take the first variation, Tata Karsavina the second, and I'll dance the third..." and on and on she went. Would it that that casting had actually materialized and the show really happen!
