Just beat this monstrosity for the first time after ~25 deaths - biggest thing for me was not using lock on - I found with locking on it was super hard to dodge his attacks or get behind him so I had locking on off and would run around in front of him at a medium distance and then after he does his shield slam I ran around him or between his legs to get behind him and then locked on his ankles and slashed at those until he fell, then ran around to his head and switched to dual wield and got in as many head shots as I could while he was down. Only had to repeat twice to kill him. Worked out pretty well just have to be careful not to get backed up against a wall or into a corner doing this. Again, turning off lock-on was a game changer for me! Good luck guys if you persevere you’ll get this mofo!

I finally beat him today. I was sweating, heart racing, my hands were gripping the remote so hard, but that's how I play for all bosses. When I played Bloodborne I would get this rush and I would concentrate so hard it would feel like my brain was about to explode.. but yeah, after dying numerous times to him (mainly because I was going into the fight already frustrated from the archers and two blue eyed knights outside the fog) today I decided to just rush past the enemies right before him so I could just get to fighting him and once I realized his attack patterns he was not bad. For me his hardest attacks to dodge are his spear attacks

Bruh I reached him twice out of 10 times and i got one shoted 😭
I have tried this like 6 times and I just keep dying even when I do this strat
I'm glad that I completed the boss fight on my first try. I had that blue magic attack with me so it was a bit easier for me cause I wasn't going near him. But I got hit by his long range attacks .haha
Am i playing the same game as those making the comments? As soon as i heard get behind him it was a cakewalk.
At first, that advice felt easier said than done, but once you recognize his patterns, and be patient by only getting in 1 or 2 hits and running immediately after he misses, that it is possible. Once I got into a groove, it was just repetition and was easier than I thought. It seemed impossible for awhile, almost gave up on the game.
