Older drummers (like me) who were raised on the Muppet Show know Animal has magic drumming powers. It's never talked about, but we all know. S tier. Always.
The Patron commercial: It is a technique originally from Flamenco. Yes one is doing downbeats and another does upbeats. (I took Flamenco for 9 months and was a Mexican folk dancer for 12 years)
@9:26 a couple of the people I drum with in Orlando drove down to Miami for that Remy Martin Serena Williams commercial shoot. If I remember correctly It was $1000 bucks for the all day shoot, and they had a bigger section filmed, but they literally edited it down to 2 flams 😂. You can see one of the guys I work with’s (Jason) drum on the left, but that’s a “She” playing the flams fully in the shot
Splitting that??? Yes!! Listen to some of the «palmas» in Spanish flamenco and occasionally latin in other music. They are amazing at splitting 16th notes and syncopated rhythms. Take the speed to 25 and watch the hands of the rotating trio. Yep!! I LOVE IT!!
The Argos commercial featured Nadi Bushell (the younger girl) who is an actual drummer. She beat Dave Grohl in a viral drum-off and even played Everlong perfectly live with Foo Fighters. She also played In Bloom by Nirvana perfectly on the Ellen Show. And if that wasn’t enough, Dave Grohl himself named her “the most badass drummer in the world.” So yeah… better than the Kars for Kids “musicians”
EMC I’m pretty sure the girl playing the drums in the Argos commercial was the same girl that played for the foofighters on there tour after Taylor Hawkins died 5:51
I didn’t know the thing about having the triangle clip closer to the triangle. I also thought it should be close but my band teacher has always had it really far away for some reason. It actually got worse after a middle school percussionist broke the clip and the replaced it with a longer one. I always thought it should be closer because it’s always dangling but I never questioned it.
@EMCproductions the In the Air Tonight fill is basically always played with double stops: ua-cam.com/video/IeDMnyQzS88/v-deo.html (Phil collins playing it live)
There's a Halls commercial that has a drummer.... where the snare drum is up like a tom next to the bass drum. That one would be fun to rip apart and judge.
I actually did a play on the Dairy Milk (Cadbury) ad for my Year 12 graduation assembly. Gorilla Mask and all. There's a video of it somewhere, but I don't know where
4:52 I'd love to know how old those kids are in the Kars for Kids commercial! They may all be out of high school by now! This is what I found in a google search: Founded in 1995, Kars 4 Kids released its first version of the jingle on New York radio stations in 1999.
Side note on the Argos ad: using “book of dreams” as a slogan may well be a deliberate reference to a classic bit from one of Bill Bailey’s standup sets where he describes it as “the laminated book of dreams”. For, well, arcane British reasons that would take too long to explain.
Not a commercial, but my winds group was featured in Episode 4 of the TV show Under The Banner of Heaven during a parade scene. I haven't seen it personally, but apparently the cymbals are off from the audio, they pulled video from different takes so there's shots of us marching straight and the trombones using the correct positions, and shots of us bobbing back and forth and trombones maximizing motion instead of correct positions, and the audio has heavilly prominent instruments that we did not have on set.
To be fair the fill from "in the air tonight" is two flams on each tom, with a kick accent in between. Basically "flam flam kick flam flam kick flam flam kick flam flam kick flam kick flam"
I like the Dimebag Darrel guitar the kid is “ playing “ on the Kars for Kids commercial. I bet if the producers knew the origins of it, they would have chosen a different guitar.
Just when you think you’re rid of the terrible Kars 4 Kids commercial, it comes back to haunt you forever. That said, the girl in the next commercial is one Nandi Buschell (apologies if I spelt that wrong). She’s truly amazing. How good, you ask? Let me say this: I’ve been playing drums since I was 3. I’m 27 now, so that’s 25 years. I could use a lesson from her, and I’m not ashamed to say that.
He wasn't playing triangle wrong he literally invented two new tones on an instrument we all thought only had two. And that indeed should be A teir because that is exactly what I sound like behind a kit and walking around my house.
I had a triangle part for rack in marching band last year and I can fully agree with you that that technique was horrible and judges actually care a lot about the triangle.
0:20 Wow, I just bought a E-kit just like that one, and it is a good one. That's not the exact same one, I got the Roland td-07dmk, but yeah the point still stands. Don't be that guy. 🤣
Kars for Kids. lol They translated this in French over here, but with their "English" accent. So over here... Peoples made complaints. We could not even understand a thing, not even the phone number. lol "Oum nuite nuite nuite, klas klow klé...." Hein? Quoi? lol They actually remade it.
4:57 as a 13 year old violinist the violin performing is so cursed you could believe it rose from the fiery flames of hell itself. the bow is way too tight, the shifting is blasphemous and she isnt hitting any of the notes she is playing. also the bow hold is completely devious.
The guitar in the Kars for kids wasn't even touching the guitar, and as a piano player in band, it made me cringe so hard when they zoomed in on the girl playing the piano just resting her hand on the keyboard
How confusing were the mid-roll ads on this video?
Very.
Hold on! I will go over to my husband's computer and check it out!!!
Yes
idk i have yt premium
OK, RedDogMamaHD here: For Mid-roll I got this strange ad from Cal Hope. Life is uncertain, And lots of other Mental Health stuff!
Older drummers (like me) who were raised on the Muppet Show know Animal has magic drumming powers. It's never talked about, but we all know. S tier. Always.
Animal was my first drumming idol! Totally agree with your assessment
His solo in the theme was the first thing I really ever learned on drums
He went kit to kit legendary drummers like the late great Buddy Rich, one of the best of all time!!!!!!!!!
Now emc needs to make tenors with Pringle cans
Or wrap the tiny tenors in a Pringle skin
He may already have…..someone should ask him!
Experiment, throw some different types in, like some quaker oats cans maybe.
I used to have those big cans of high-c punch set up is a little side rack. Didn't sound too bad in a way...
nice
The Patron commercial: It is a technique originally from Flamenco. Yes one is doing downbeats and another does upbeats. (I took Flamenco for 9 months and was a Mexican folk dancer for 12 years)
Just want to point out, whenever Phil Collins plays In The Air Tonight live he always plays the fill (or Phil if you want) as all double stops
you could call it Phil’s fill
And I’ve seen it somewhere that it’s actually flams, and I always heard it as flams. The gorilla ad is absolutely spot on with the drumming.
Waste of material!
Splitting that??? Yes!! Listen to some of the «palmas» in Spanish flamenco and occasionally latin in other music. They are amazing at splitting 16th notes and syncopated rhythms. Take the speed to 25 and watch the hands of the rotating trio. Yep!! I LOVE IT!!
Nandy Bushnell played with foo fighters recently and had a drum battle with dave grohl. she is amazing!
And if that wasn’t enough, Dave Grohl himself named her “the most badass drummer in the world.”
So yeah… better than the Kars for Kids “musicians”
I know I recognized her. She's great!
"beat" Dave Grohl.
Nandi playing the mini kit! She rocks
4:56 I'm not a violinist but the way she's holding that bow💀
I am a violinist but the way she's holding that bow...
EMC I’m pretty sure the girl playing the drums in the Argos commercial was the same girl that played for the foofighters on there tour after Taylor Hawkins died 5:51

Stevie T would be proud of your Kars 4 Kids analysis.
you need to make pringle tenors now
@EMCproductions the In the Air Tonight fill is basically always played with double stops:
ua-cam.com/video/IeDMnyQzS88/v-deo.html (Phil collins playing it live)
Good morning! This is video number 49 of me asking Eric to make a set of tenors out of differently sized or tuned snare drums.
Cadbury Gorilla will always be the best to me
There's a Halls commercial that has a drummer.... where the snare drum is up like a tom next to the bass drum. That one would be fun to rip apart and judge.
I was in an add for raising canes that had a drum line not much there to talk about but still would be cool to see you review it
You should try the Pringles thing. It would be a cool vid.
I actually did a play on the Dairy Milk (Cadbury) ad for my Year 12 graduation assembly. Gorilla Mask and all. There's a video of it somewhere, but I don't know where

I never knew Kars 4 Kids did anything but radio ads. I always turn the radio off when I hear that da BUM da BUM.
That as told by ginger name drop was great,
Also, that cadbury dairy milk ad still remains the most goated ads ever, its iconic.
I never knew just how much pain i would feel from Kars 4 kids even after the amount of times Stevie t has talked about it
The girl in the argos commercial is actually a really talented drummer, she had a really good caravan performance on drumeo
Get it NANDI!! UA-cam covers! On stage with the Foos, S tier with EMC..
Kars 4 kids haunts me
Thank you for this beautiful video EMC
I'm so glad I paused it right before the Kars for Kids commercial, don't want that stuck in my head all week
8:24 Does anyone know where I can find 3 inch drum heads or rims to make tiny tenors tinier than Tony G’s tiny tenors?
Triangle is finally getting it’s deserved attention
there is technique playing the triangle 😂. People have no idea how much technique is involved in classical percussion.
Side note on the Argos ad: using “book of dreams” as a slogan may well be a deliberate reference to a classic bit from one of Bill Bailey’s standup sets where he describes it as “the laminated book of dreams”. For, well, arcane British reasons that would take too long to explain.

Yeah that pinky on the Verizon ad gets me every time
Please do a collab with Stevie T
How have you never heard it played with double stops? That’s how Phil has always played it, and that’s how most everyone else does too.
I'm surprised there's this much percussion playing in these ads
As a fellow Percussionist, I was cringing to some of these ads during the Super Bowl. BUT the muppets and gorilla one had me, 10/10
That cadbarrys chocolate bar one has to be the most iconic ads in the uk
LMAO the cars kids one came at the same time that the ad came up on my tv. Te exact same time wow what a coincidence
Nandi Bushell has played with the Foo Fighters. She better get S tier.
stevie t has some words about kars 4 kids
I'm a bit surprised you didn't know Phil does double stops for the tom part. It's the big sustaining concert toms that make the sound tbh
You should put pringle can decals on the tiny tenors.
The one with the clapping reminded me of bluecoats 2016
I saw the triangle doritos commercial and immediately thought of you. Glad you critiqued it here 😆
I hope you do more contest giveaways. I really need a new drum set because mine is really basic and has really bad hardware. love your videos!
Jameson's whiskey did a drumming ad years ago (90's i think) and on a very nice green kit too
Here's the link to it ua-cam.com/video/1DGJLAWubnc/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Archives71

I like the Dimebag Darrel guitar the kid is “ playing “ on the Kars for Kids commercial. I bet if the producers knew the origins of it, they would have chosen a different guitar.
I played the triangle part as I was a part of the rack for marching band and the string was so long.
Just when you think you’re rid of the terrible Kars 4 Kids commercial, it comes back to haunt you forever.

the girl in the argos com is a actual drummer which is nice to see
BROOOOOOOO I haven't heard the Kars for Kids commercial in forever
I hope you do another drum giveaway or contest soon. I would really love to enter because I need some knew equipment for my drum set.
I can confirm your theory. I play the guitar and my sister plays the violin, and I know a couple of other kids who play the drums and keyboard.
My god, the Doritos one was incredible 😂😂😂
Triangle clip? My entire middle and high school percussion career our triangle dangled from a piece of cruddy dirty string
As is tradition.
Good lord.... Why did you have to include the most Infernal ad yet? The KARS 4 KIDS ad?
Kars for kids was a radio classic🗣🗣🔥🔥
10:55
I don't think those are half notes, buddy
Pringles definitely got that idea from emc
Argos girl was just featured on drumeo. . . I guess that means she can really play. .
Seeing that bass technique from that kid killed me inside
you should review josh duns marching section
I always love these videos, and I always get that indeed ad
He wasn't playing triangle wrong he literally invented two new tones on an instrument we all thought only had two. And that indeed should be A teir because that is exactly what I sound like behind a kit and walking around my house.
Is that a bronze Alan Abel triangle you own? Where did you find it?
I had a triangle part for rack in marching band last year and I can fully agree with you that that technique was horrible and judges actually care a lot about the triangle.
0:20 Wow, I just bought a E-kit just like that one, and it is a good one.
That's not the exact same one, I got the Roland td-07dmk, but yeah the point still stands.
Don't be that guy. 🤣
I can literally play to these.
5:41 school of rock
What might put the triangle in the mainstream for real is if you get that concerto written:-D
Steve T is traumatized by kars for kids
As a percussionist I am dying inside. 💀
What triangle did you use in this video
"No no no its ding ding ding ding" 😂
Bro that bassist did the illegal thumbstrum
Kars for Kids. lol They translated this in French over here, but with their "English" accent.
So over here... Peoples made complaints. We could not even understand a thing, not even the phone number. lol
"Oum nuite nuite nuite, klas klow klé...." Hein? Quoi? lol
They actually remade it.
Indeed..🥸🧐
I am watching the video it goes to ad and I see the triangle ad
his name is Phil and he play one of the best fills lol
4:54 Stevie T’s worst nightmare
Can you come visit WEstfield high school indiana
4:53 NOT KARS 4 KIDS 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Proud you’re not holding a grudge on that pink bunny company.
as someone who has messed with a triangle before
i can tell that that's not how a triangle works
I just saw the Doritos add while watching the video
4:57 as a 13 year old violinist the violin performing is so cursed you could believe it rose from the fiery flames of hell itself. the bow is way too tight, the shifting is blasphemous and she isnt hitting any of the notes she is playing. also the bow hold is completely devious.
I was expecting you to pull a Stevie T and rip Kars 4 Kids open a new one but you were more calm with your approach on how they SUUUUCK
Cadbury Dairy Milk is a chocolate bar so not a milk ad... But still doesn't explain the gorilla...
Mike Mangini Harris Teeter commercial!
Do duracell batteries
You know Verizon did a bad job when a cymbal player sees it and immediately says it's bad
I live very near interstate 69.
best vids ever
That's actually quarter rests
The guitar in the Kars for kids wasn't even touching the guitar, and as a piano player in band, it made me cringe so hard when they zoomed in on the girl playing the piano just resting her hand on the keyboard
