A classic example of thinking getting to the summit of Mt. Everest is the goal, instead of the real final goal which is to get all the way home safely. In the same way their goal was to stop the train and steal the money, problem was that is not the goal, they failed to plan where to END UPWITHTHE MONEY. By failing to plan, they planned to fail.
they probably had life in prison, so nothing to loose, and i bet he said he would put a lot of money on their books so they could live okay in prison. Idk tho just a thought!
@@fenilvibes1039 Id still say they were on a life sentence, just like how Bigs was in that jail but being transferred to a max security prison. The inmates that helped probably just got life sentences but were waiting to be transferred to a Max security, like bigs was waiting to be transferred.
The sad end to the story is, when he did go back to England he did so to die as by which time he was seriously ill, weak + frail. None the less, the powers that be demonstrated their insensitivity + inability to reflect the will of the people, as well as a vindictive + petty streak, an overall absence of anything close to what might be seen as leadership qualities, to be frank. He was immediately locked up in Belmarsh, the most secure facility in Britain + home to some of our most dangerous inmates. If this was supposed to be a message, or a show of strength, resolve, + 'we always get our guy', it wasn't........ it was an embarrassment, is what it was. A missed opportunity to display some class, no one was gloating, claiming victory + let's remind ourselves of who Ronnie Biggs was, + what he'd done because a large part of the population weren't even born when the events took place. He wasn't a mass-murderer super villain, he was a bit-part player in a robbery, a low in the pecking order member of a gang, all of whom received sentences that were unjust + didn't reflect their crime. 30 year sentences was another example of petty-mindedness, ego, + an overgrown sense of self-importance. So, 2001 he was imprisoned, 2009 he was released + in 2013 he died. The system of law isn't meant to be used to settle scores, or make examples, consistency is what's needed + The Great Train Robbery (TGTR) was a case where this principle was somehow allowed to be forgotten, a crime in itself, I'd say, but you won't hear much about it......... If 2 burglars each break + enter a house, one gets 5 years, the other gets 10 years, because the house he robbed belonged to someone with friends in high places. That's a terrible abuse of power/position + that's what happened with TGTR, essentially, the law isn't for certain individuals to decide how grave a crime is, they might decide it's no crime at all + we'll have the guilty set free because he had a friend, who had a friend...... There are guidelines that are in place to prevent this sort of thing, it appears that back in the 60's things were different.............. All that 'free love', for one thing, although I'm sure that like today, you pay for it one way or another.......... You might consider the possibility someone else already has?...?......
It always amazes me how genius and well planned out heists can be except the last part. " what should we do after we load the $ into the vehicles?" " oh, let's just chill at an abandoned farm nearby" 🤦♂️ Clever but dumb!
@Anthony Johnson I've been robbing banks for years. You set up an account and put a littleseed money in to throw them off the scent. Then they give you this little plastic card so you can come back after they've closed for the night. If you take a little bit out at a time, no one ever suspects a thing.
There’s something so fascinating and admirable even forgivable about criminals that pull off non violent heist of corporate money . In my opinion of course . .
They got Ronnie in the end though. Even though he was at Deaths door, the authorities still had to put him behind bars, to make an example of him I guess. They never would've got him though. He came back to the UK for medical treatment due to his poor health.
I understand that they had no other clues to go on but telling the train people to stay quiet for 30 minutes could have simply meant they wanted a 30 minute head start to get a hundred miles away. I guess they guessed right though.
They should’ve thought about not leaving any prints of any kind anywhere...what the heck is going on? Why didn’t they? If they did, they might have gotten away with it
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"
They would have gotten completely away if they had cleaned the house of fingerprints and taken and trashed the items they used. Every detail was so well planned....such a shame.

It's good to see the people taking back from corrupt banks
I like to see the Villan win sometimes.Nice ending he made out lived his life in peace.F'em
It’s the non violent element and the fact that it’s corporate money and not Joe citizens who is being robbed in my opinion.
-1 for not playing Monopoly with *real* cash when they had the opportunity.
