Japan offered Teresa the second largest record market in the world and also the solid professional training in music performance that would later propel her to be the one and only 'Asia's Singing Princess'. She had diligently studied Japanese language for 5 years while she lived & worked there. As Teresa became increasingly popular & famous in Japan, by then her personalized singing techniques, presentation style, & mesmerizing stage presence appealed to audiences across the spectrum. From 1976 on, she has continued to gain wider & better recognition back in Taiwan, Hong Kong & SE Asia when she toured in her new more captivating concerts. Furthermore, since the 1960's, Japan had the most advanced technology in the music recording industry (SONY & Universal studios) in Asia. It had the best recording support system and also the most honest royalty payment system for a professional singer. Naturally, Teresa's great success in Japan was mutually supportive & beneficial even to this day. Her records are still being reissued and her royalties continually paid to Teresa Teng Foundation where her old boss is still serving on the Board of Directors.
