  • Cedar Point has always been known as that amusement park that's all about breaking records and having the tallest and fastest coasters in the world. For years its been thought that they would be the first to break the 500 foot mark or even the inversion record. However I feel the park is moving in a different direction. These are my predictions for Cedar Point moving forward.
Thanks so much for watching and have a wonderful day!

i worked at cedar point the year the magnum xl opened - 1989. worked in the dishroom at the marina restaurant. some long days, but the off hours were amazing. had a lot of fun there. had been going to cedar point my whole life, but that was the first time i'd walked through the park when it was almost empty. after closing, with very few people around, it was surreal. i still remember that summer very fondly. my favorite coasters are the magnum, and the blue streak. cedar point - America's roller coast.

As a Michigander who has been going to this park since about 1982 I must say this... I was there for the opening week of most of the risky coasters. The reason why I keep coming back and then introducing my children and now grandchildren is one thing that isn't mentioned much... SAFETY. When I go to this park I know that they have inspected, passed and inspected again. I am buckled in tight and allowed to let myself be free on rides without worry. The thrills are wonderful.. but I think this park also is the best in making sure that the guests are taken care of on the ground and in the air. I will continue to go and ride as long as my legs and body will let me. At age 53 I'm still going to stand in line, ride the Magnum x3 in a row.., ride the FORCE... get tossed about on Maverick and then do the hang time on Raptor.... life complete :)...... until next year..... rinse repeat... The park never gets old.

    • @powerfulcornelius3285
      @powerfulcornelius3285 Рік тому

I love Cedar Point, but you get the same feel of safety at all the Major Parks. You should explore more and experience different parks and coasters. A woman was nearly killed by Top Thrill Dragster in 2021, and a man was killed by Raptor even though it was complete his fault. Don’t be locked in to one park out of fear of safety because you are missing out. I have been to several parks since Cedar Point and they all feel like quality and safety. Disney, Universal and Bush Gardens don’t play around. The last thing they want is news about a injured guest on a ride.

Last year was the first time i ever went to Cedar Point. I just moved from Georgia to Michigan so it was only natural that I go. When we made the turn from South to East in Toledo and the open farmland came into view, it truly was a beautiful ride there. Then all of a sudden as your crossing the water you can see Cedar Point in the distance. It gave me so many goosebumps. That park was more fun than Disney World and Six Flags combined. One of the struggles I think CP will face over the years in truly making it a destination park (which it totally deserves to be) is the area immediately surrounding it. CP has been buying up a decent amount of property along its entrances and its renewed focus on its "resort" properties (including the yet to open sawmill) is its way of controlling that. It can truly only do so much so quickly, but its definitely working that way. They didn't have the luxury of owning a swamp and controlling the entire experience like Disney did.

Great video. A key point, which you mentioned only briefly, is that Cedar Point is landlocked… they’re fully built-out on the Cedar Pt peninsula. So in a discussion of “risks” they take, we have to consider the trade-off between removing popular attractions and nostalgic attractions (Vintage Cars, Log Ride, etc) to make the room necessary for new rides. I think Cedar Pt does a GREAT job in this regard.

I’ve been saying this for a while. It’s been clear that the days of the Kinzel era of adding bold new attractions is over. Cedar Point is shifting its focus to round out the experience at the park and fully commit to a destination park. This is not a bad thing at all, they will obviously still get a big coaster but it will probably be every 4-5 years now. Families, dining, and expanding the properties and their experiences is what they seem to have an emphasis on now

Due to the crowds generated by $99 Gold Passes that unforeseeably lasted the past 2 seasons and 2 months, I've spent way more time on Magnum and Gemini than I have in years. I just pretended that a time machine was the newest attraction and I was back in 1989. Sure the crowds were a little thinner and less rowdy than they were back then, but I'll just credit the great ops for the terrific throughput ; )

I totally love Cedar Point, it's my second favorite park but just slightly ahead of number 3, Kings Island. KI is an RMC and an elite launch coaster away from passing it. Great video as always.

    Greetings from India (again)
I think Cedar Point must start building more dark rides and some other family-oriented experiences for non-thrill seekers that come to the park. For example, I am a thrill seeker who would rush to steel vengeance, but when I go to theme parks with my dad who hates coasters and thrill rides, he has nothing to do. If Cedar Point invested in some more family-oriented experiences, it would help attract the family and children crowd and would lead to non thrill seekers to give the park a shot. After all, almost every single thrill seeker has gone to cedar point when they got the chance, so to increase their revenue, they can only attract the non-thrill seekers who want a unique experience they can get nowhere else.

Cedar Point and Kings Island were the #1 things I was excited about when I moved to Ohio as a teenager. Really they're the only things that makes me want to stay (well for half the year anyways) because I HATE the cold. I have thoosie kids now and we get platinum passes and go to one or the other (and honestly a lot of weeks both) at least once a week during the operating season. I'm finally going to splurge this year and get the all season platinum fast lane for us, so I'm super excited. It just never gets old. Even though CP is twice as far (2 hours vs 1) as Kings Island, we still go there just as much. Nothing like going to Kings Island on a Saturday, getting home at 1am, and heading out to Cedar Point at 7am on Sunday. We've even done Friday at Cedar Point, Saturday and Sunday at Kings Island, and Monday at Cedar Point once. Probably the best 4 days ever.
I'm a bit nervous about the future. It seems they're really going the whole experience route and that really doesn't do much for us since were so close, but as long as they are throwing in some new world class coasters every few years at each park I'll stay happy. I just hope that they don't price us out with several hundred dollar platinum passes and 1500 year long fast lane as they go with a more upscale future.
Anywho, keep making great content. Always a joy when you upload.

    Wow brother🎉
Absolutely Amazing video! You definitely stirred up some emotions In this 43 year old Cleveland Kid....Cedar Point holds so many memories for me.... Family members who have since passed away (RIP) like my uncle Sheldon who only went to play the Carnival games. So when I was a kid, to little to ride anything he won myself, and his son (my cousin Matty) all the stuffed bears we could hold! Or my grandmother who would drive us to Sandusky just to get a bag of that salt water taffy, and take us on the Mine Ride once my cousin Matty and I were tall enough..Or my now 73 year old Mom who would ride Iron Dragon, and the WildCat but THAT WAS IT😂 Or my now 22 and 23 yr old daughters who I took on the world's first Giga, "Milli" for the first time when they were 7and 8 yrs old respectfully.... Well now, this past year at a family trip to the Point they were shooting into the sky on the sling shot, together, but without thier Dad (No Sling Shots for me) 😂😂
I've been going to Cedar Point for nearly 40 years! (37 yrs to be exact)
It is, and always will be the Magical Place of our childhoods to alot of us here in Ohio ....The feeling you put into this video along with the Music and the shots you used, helped to make this video a small piece of
    C. P memoribiia that I will save (in a cloud) forever💯🙏🏽 I am speechless (kind of)

We are seeing the aftermath of the end of the Dick Kinzel era. One thing I noticed was that no only did he add a lot of coasters to the park, but he never removed them, even if they weren't great. He wanted record breakers and he wanted the park to hold the title for most roller coasters. But we are seeing a shift. Cedar Point wants to be the place that families can go and have a good time. I remember discussions on Guide to the Point (now Pointbuzz) where parents admitted that the park was great for adults and enthusiasts, but there wasn't much for kids that weren't tiny. So we are seeing a shift to overall entertainment. Great video, as always. I still think you're the best channel focused on coasters on UA-cam.

As my nephews are getting older and able to ride more, I find myself disappointed that they've made it harder for them to transition up to the bigger coasters. When I was young, I could ride Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport fairly early since I think they were 36" height requirements. Now Iron Dragon is 48"? Why? You're 100% surrounded by the ride vehicle and there are no negative g forces at all. All I can ride with them is Woodstock Express and whatever they are calling Junior Gemini now. It'll probably be another year, maybe two and then most of the park will open up.

@@danbert8 Same over here. Blue Streak and Disaster Transport were the 2nd and 3rd roller coaster I rode back in 1991. But with the removal of DT and Wild Cat, it’s just harder to find those level up coasters.

All good points, another one is better competition. They’re creating tons of competition with other parks they own too. Cedar point has always been a 2 day park because I have to drive 5 hours, but if I could I would stay all summer.

The closest park to me is Universal Hollywood, then Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm, and Disneyland Resort. If I'm going to spend the night, it's a Disneyland (and that's a once every couple years treat). One item to consider that Cedar Point has an advantage on is being on the peninsula and it could be an hours long drive to get home. That's exhausting after a full day of walking and adrenalin. Makes a lot of sense to lean into a diversity of attractions (and thrills) so each member of the family can feel like they got something out of a multi-day trip.

Grew up in the area and have been to CP more times than I can count. A few rides behind since I moved to the south. But I will tell you a couple of observations: 1. Dragster may come down after the accident that happened. 2. Velocicoaster at Universal is one of the best coasters I have ever been on. 3. CP lacks a multiple launch coaster like the Velocicoaster, and that may be a good direction to go. Fantastic ride in a confined, land-locked area 4. Would love them to start having more interactive lines like you see at Universal. Makes the wait much, much better. 5. A 500 foot coaster would be difficult because of geography. More likely to happen at a park that can use a cliff or large hill to minimize the structure needed. New sub. great video

I use to be jealous of those who live close to Disney or universal but I guess I am really lucky to live next to a park that is known as the roller coaster capital lmao.

I think you’re right. Going last year we did two nights at Breakers and had a fantastic time. It took advance booking and lots of planning ahead, but we had the opportunity to ride everything we wanted with the options to take things as fast or as slow as we needed. One day certainly wouldn’t have been enough. That’s different from my home park Kings Island, that’s an easy single day experience that can be done almost on a whim. While planning I certainly felt Cedar Point was at least a step beyond the typical theme park vacation experience. I think that may actually be a good thing for this region of the country. A big, but not too big travel destination for thrills and more.

Cedar Point can easily, easily be done in a day. You have a few options for doing so.
      1. Go on a weekday in May or early June.
      2. Buy Fast Lane (Highly recommended for this park)
      3. Go on a Halloweekends Thursday or Friday. Some rides are not open, but most of the big ones are.

OK. I'm a real old guy. I first visited CP as a kid in the mid-1960s even before Frontierland was built. The only coaster back then was the Blue Streak. The park ended near the train depot. The beach was avoided because of pollution and the new attraction was the Earthquake ride.

I'm from northern Indiana and I grew up going to cedar point every other summer with my family. I remember when ratpor was brand new and I was too short to ride it. The only new attraction I could ride that year was demon drop. That is no longer there. But I especially remember my brother challenging me every time we went to go on the dragster and I was always too scared until I was 20 years old ( when gatekeeper was the newest ride). Then I finally could say id been on every ride. Millennium force was good, but the 3-hour wait was agonizing.
All in all cedar point will always be dear to me. I just hate that now that I live in NJ no one knows what it is. 😞
