Good for you, Dad. Letting your son express his creativity while teaching him to love the outdoors at the same time.
I love the bond between you and your son. Really educated on the local wildlife, keep up the good work. Watching from cape cod, across the ocean from you
Thank you very much, we are simply sharing what we love doing. Best wishes and have a wonderful day 😊
As someone with terrible eyes, it's amazing on what you can see and all the tracks you notice! It's absolutely amazing.
Also thank you for being contentious and only harvesting things ethically. It's a wonderful thing to see.
It is our pleasure. I am glad that you enjoy joining us on our adventures Markiel. 😊🦞
Seems like all the little creatures are just coming out to greet you. 😊
I think the only thing you're better at than fishing is the way you show affection to your son. Truly heartwarming
@@TheFishLocker Top Dad, i need to take a leaf out of your book for mine. 👍🏿🤠
I like that too. My experience of having parents was shall we say.. different by quite a bit. So it's always nice to see genuine stuff like that, it makes me smile inside that other people, someone at least, gets a nice childhood. 😎 I'm also Buddhist.... and sometimes, someone is quite obviously a natural Buddha. Listening to and being around someone like that is akin to watching butterflies... 😆 So there's that. I'm moving to the seaside soon. I can hardly contain myself now I know where it is and everything.... 🥳
I love the at night videos because all the creatures seem to really pop out on camera
Lots of creatures are much more confident at night so you can see much more.
In all my YouTubing I have never heard anyone more knowledgeable than yourself. Your delivery style is delightful and authoritative. You are a real pleasure to listen to and your videos are amazing. Well done, what a talent you have for educating us that follow you :)
Thank you very much Neil that is very high praise and I am pleased that you are enjoying the videos and find them interesting. Take care and have a great day sir. 😊👍🏻🦞🦀🐚
young lads and fire, it'll never change, We've all been there. Great video John don't tell James what he's missing or you'll NEVER get any.
James is so cute! Every time I see him turn down the Lobster with a polite 'no thank you' i think, you don't know what you're missing LOL
You sure know your Sea creatures! Very interesting! The water is so clean and clear. Beautiful!
Never fails to amaze! That little sense of anticipation when you turn over a rock….you really are the Attenborough of the Coastline ☺️
I do love a bit of Sir David. Such a wondeful guardian of the natural world. 💙
Nothing wrong in teaching and commending those who actually are keen on learning.....good job@
James is so lucky to have a dad like you.massive respect.🔥🦞🔥🦞
I have been waiting since before our son was born to teach him these things. 😊
That lobster was a real beauty! And you gotta love James's wonderful imagination. Takes us all back to the simpler things. Nope, it doesn't take much for a true and lovely imagination to flourish wherever you are, and with whatever you've got! "Who lives here?" ...and he comes up with Mr. rock-man. LOVE IT! :)
Another great episode. Nice to see James using his imagination to play with rocks and things. In the numeric age that is becoming a rare thing to see. All the best.
Hey John, you are now the channel's official translator - "bluh blubda fa lowoer"......bye from the Fish Locker! Brilliant!
I just love these foraging videos from you guys, and when James joins in it is even better. Hope to be able to enjoy something similar with my kids when they are a few years older. Also, scrumptious!!!
I have been waiting since before James was born to teach him these things. 😊👍🏻🦞
The bond you and your lad have is awesome 👌 he will be beating your records one day mate 💪🤟
Good result with the lobster. Now I know that my dad wasn't disappointed when I too as a kid preferred my snacks to fresh boiled lobster with butter. Some day James will be able to eat a whole one.
The way you identify all the creatures that you find will never cease to amaze me. :)
Wow!! Your knowledge is insane! James is a very fortunate young man to have you as his Dad! Keep being adventurous, loving your vids
He is growing into a little Man ,Will not be long before he is hosting his own shows, Thoroughly enjoying your seaside adventures ,, always informative ,, Thank You for the time you spend doing these videos ..
You ought to be on the BBC, every Saturday morning. Far more entertaining and educational than some of the rubbish, we get in the USA. Wonderful!
Another wonderful adventure. If we all had the good fortune to have Professors with your passion, we'd never want to leave class! Sir David Frederick Attenborough has serious competition. Stay safe and hope you are back to 100%.
What a lovely way to eat lobster……straight off the beach….with garlic butter !
When you fooled james that he got your fingers with the rock you fooled me too i had shivers down my spine 😂😂 great video again always enjoy them
Glad to see Fishlocker Jr. finally becoming open to lobsters🥰
It just took a little time. I knew his curiosity would win out in the end. 😊🦞
I like how you explain everything, i learn new things everytime you post a video, and most of the times i forget the names of all the little sea creatures so i just come back and watch your videos!
It’s how I learnt. Every time I went to the shore I remembered a new one. And before you know it, you know most of them. 😊🦀🦞🐚
You're an excellent forager and father. I hope you realize how talented and thoughtful you are. :)
Please do more shellfish foraging and cook up🥺 its my guilty pleasure to watch! I have learned so much watching your videos. Keep it up!
Your interaction with James is outstanding Good Show!
I’ve been waiting since before James was born to share these things with him.😊
I appreciate your videos! You are so knowledgeable and point out things that I would never notice in a million years! You have a fan in Missouri in USA. My daughter and I watch whenever we can and learn something each time. You're a great teacher. Thank you!!
It is our pleasure Bridget. We are simply sharing what we know and love doing. 😊🦞💙
Marshmallows! What a tremendous dad! James you are so fortunate! Happy beach trails you lot!
As one Yorkshire lad to another, I always feel educated after watching your videos. Not only that I always feel hungry after seeing fresh lobster cooked in the open air. Keep up the good work your videos are most enjoyable.
Perfect to the very end. I love James' sign off.
I've only been to the ocean twice in 40 years. I live landlocked by many hundreds of miles away (Illinois, USA). I love watching and learning with you.
@@TheFishLocker thank you for taking the time to film and share with the rest of us.
Goodness, Mr James is getting so big! He is such a proper young man. You have started him down a good path with his manors.
Have a great week!
Can't thank you enough for these excellent posts. Fascinating rockpool life from the very start. The topknot really stood out under the ultra violate torch, and you got your reward with the lobster. Will be going back through this video with the Great British Marine Animals book (To make sure you have identified all the species properly ha ha). Nice seeing James back out lucky boy has a fantastic dad showing him the ropes keep safe and thanks for posting.
In cases when the exact species is not easy distinguishable I often use the family term. Like "Pink Coral Weeds" otherwise the videos would become really tedious. 😊
Love seeing how they react to the UV light! Thank you for this channel!
Wow that is a big marshmallow! This video put a big goofy smile on my face. Thanks for sharing. As always great content!
It is my pleasure. I am glad that you enjoyed the video. Those marshmallows are awesome aren’t they. 😬
If one could tag around with you for years your knowledge would be AWESOME. To learn just 1/10th of what you know would make one brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Thanks for passing it on to us.
Paul
It is my pleasure. We are simply sharing what we know and love doing. 😊👍🏻🦞
The water is so crystal clear, such a beautiful place too live.🦀🦀🦀
Yeah, the fisher locker boys. Love watching the foraging, something I'll never get to do. You guys are so lucky. I haven't been able to afford to lobster or crab in 17 yrs but I enjoy watching. Just melted butter for lobster. I only had crab cold.
If I didn’t catch them I doubt we would eat them. They are expensive aren’t they.🦞
There is some abundance of sea creatures in the rock pools which means the waters are clean and hopefully that's the way it will stay for future generations to come great video again john🍀😁
You're such a nice dad! This is what's life is all about. Inspires me to go out into nature with my son more!
Wow James has gotten so big since I first started watching your channel. Such a handsome little guy.
You depth of knowledge is unbelievable. And Uighur truly care that you care about the animals. You so carefully put the rocks back. ❤️🇨🇦
Thank you Joanne, I hope that the depth of knowledge we share in our videos is what sets us apart from others who try to do what we do. 😉👍🏻🦞
I feel like sometimes the best part of your videos is watching your young one growing up over the years.
Those snakelocks anemone and topknots are just stunning under the UV John! the massive spring tides we had recently we amazing for going out and exploring those rockpools and harder to reach places 🔥
Just living the dream.
Cornwall. Family. Sharing love, knowledge and making precious, precious memories.
Wholesome as it gets. Thank you for sharing, John. Awesome. 🤍
We are simply sharing what we love doing. Simple and honest content, outdoors. With family. 😊🦞
Another cracking informative video, I loved it, thanks for showing it. My nearest coast is the muddy wash, it couldn't be more different. James is really growing up and looking fit now, how he has changed, like all children, since we first saw him. When he does get a taste for lobsters you'll regret it, one won't be enough.
Aye mate. There isn’t much clarity down the Wash is there. Thank you, James makes us so proud. 😊
Love your channel ! It is wonderful how many things we can learn from your videos! Thank you SO MUCH!
Great to see my favorite fisherman's back doing his thing. James always cracks me up. Proud of him for trying another bite of lobster. Atta-boy , James.👍
@ 21:54 That Furrowed Crab (?) is munching on a small Edible Crab claw as the seastar cruised by. Neat!!! That lobster had a massive Crusher claw on him!!
Hello, Paul here from the Netherlands, Thanks for sharing your knowledge on such a nice way. Taking us by the hand in to the lovely and beutiful nature, Who needs BBC nature docs when you can watch the Fish Locker !!! Keep it on.
Fantastic educational video even for seasoned fishermen and foragers, had a lobster from my pots this morning and had it for lunch with a salad, fabulous. My son wanted to collect some sea buckthorn berries we spotted so we went back this afternoon and did so. Just a thought maybe you could do a video of coastal foraging on the cliffs etc...cheers from up north 😉
I always thought they looked like they would taste really nice, but they don't taste how they look do they. haha.
@@TheFishLocker they're strangely citrusy sweet and sour. We're going to try a few things, mixed with water and sugar, mixed with orange juice and finally some herbal tea. Frozen some as ice cubes looking forward to trying so far so good 👍
Make the most of it while you can john , my biy was the same as James at that age , now when there's food on the table I don't get a look in 🤣
Your knowledge of the local marine life never ceases to amaze me. Keep up the great work!
You make me want to live near the coast! - I grew up playing at the seaside never afraid of getting stuck right in and catching critters - I suspect your boy will be the same. Love how you involve him :)
night pool video is super interesting. James is a great lad for crushing claws!
I wish I lived close enough to the shore to do this, super fascinating
Who knows Liam, one day you may find yourself by the shore, and now you know how to do it. 😉
@@TheFishLocker I’m hoping to arrange a trip or two over the winter and early spring and make the drive (hopefully Santa got my fishing wish list 😂) . Either before or after a fishing session I will certainly be having a peruse following you’re guidance!
Honestly dude, the videos you produce are the best on this platform, it’s honest, practical wholesome content keep it up! Hope you and the FishLocker family stay safe
I love watching you and James. I cannot get over how tall he is getting! Soon he will be tall as you.
That flatfish under the UV light made my jaw drop open, literally! I did NOT expect that! And, all around it, other stuff was shining bright blue! Next time I go to a rocky shore, I'm going to take a UV walk at night!
I just love how your son said he liked the claw but only to follow up by saying he didn't want any more. I think he wasn't so sure about that one!
The main thing is he was willing to give it a go. Getting him to try new things without pressure is what I want for him. 😊👍🏻
Great fisherman and great dad. Not surprised James preferred marshmallow to lobby. 👍
I adore your channel! I love how you explain and identify all of the species in EVERY video, doesn't matter if I watched 1 or 12 or 100 of your videos you ll tell me that's a queenie scallop or that's a velvet swimming crab and I NEVER get tired of it.
I understand that some people may find it repetitive, but every new video could be someones first video. 😊
@@TheFishLocker Well I love it! I never get enough of your videos. would love to cross the pond someday and visit your bit of shore.
Love your posts! Funny how most kids don’t like fish. When I was about James age I loved it when we had fish as most of the kids wouldn’t eat it so I got to absolutely pig out on white fish baked in butter. Used to be a standing joke that I had to warn my mum not to cook me any teas as I was stuffed with about 6 portions of fish!
I grew up fishing with my granddad and I loved fish. Deep fried or baked in butter. Once I got to try shrimp and other seafood-oh my there was no turning back.
But you are right. It is hard for the littles to like fish normally. The only thing my children would eat was fish sticks and well they aren't quite fish to me lol.
Wonderful - when life is dull and dreary (as it is quite a lot these days) your videos are a tonic for the soul. Your knowledge and passion for what you do are inspiring and I love the way you share it with your lad. Thankyou so much.
I am simply glad that we may be able to share some of what we love with you. I hope it helps. 💙
Man... I wish I have a dad like him lol, it'd be soo much fun growing up
Absolutely brilliant video and what great parenting, I'm sure your lad will grow up to be a really well rounded adult. Well done mate keep it up.
Sunday hangover made that little bit better 😄
Wish we could get lobster here in Northern Ireland, been dying to try it from your videos 🦞🦞
James has grown so much since last video he was in. He has such wonderful manners to. I use to love playing with fire when I was a kid. I loved it so much that I nearly burnt down the house🙈😖. Loved the video as always John. I always learn so much from you
Haha. Most young boys have a run in with fire at some point. My brothers and I regularly had singed bits of hair and nearly burned the woods down. 🤣🔥
I live in Dunedin, New Zealand and love looking in rock pools around our beaches for muscles and other shellfish. I love your videos. I find the rock pools you guys go around real interesting, its like its own entire world in each one. Id love to go around looking for sea life with my dad.
Your series are pure documentaries!! Well done! Sending love to you and your beautiful family!
Wonderful video, thank you for showing shore full of life. Absolutely unbelievable and I love the way you used UV light to introduce so many spies I never heard about. 🤩🥰
What a great Dad you are, John. And props to James for trying more of the lobster! I think that piece was a bit bigger than last time too! I'm working through watching all your videos and I just enjoy every one of them so thanks so much for making them!
I am simply doing my best. We may not got our parenting right every time but we are doing what we feel is right. 😊🦞
@@TheFishLocker isn’t that the beauty of it? I have three young boys myself, I couldn’t agree with you more haha it doesn’t always work out as well as we had hoped it would but we’re only human, and doing our best. I like to think that one day our kiddos will realize the same 👍 Thanks again for your videos, I know it takes a massive amount of your time to bring them to us so just know that I see and appreciate the effort in bringing wholesome and positive content to the world. Be safe, and tight lines my friend!
How lovely to see James John! My! - how he's growing! (my Best Wishes to all the family) Another amazing education John - thank you once again. 36mins of total 'escape'. Wonderful!
I am making sockeye salmon at this very moment. It was a hard choice between my favorite botany channel and you. Well you won again. Love the rock pooling vids.
Enjoy your day!
Love from Augusta Maine 💗
That’s the beauty of UA-cam. You can watch one, then the other straight after. 😊💙
Mr.Fish Locker ,I Love your videos!!! Your son's is so handsome boy n he has grown so fast, how time flies!!!❤❤❤❤💙💙🤟🤟🤟🤙🤙🤙👍👍👍
Really love when you do the foraging because of the knowledge you have I did not really know how many different species of seaweed there is because when fishing it just gets very annoying, and how you can see the vibrant colours under the UV light is amazing, nice that you and junior fish locker did the cook up boy do you enjoy your lobsters I would be like you if I could get them love the taste thanks again for a very interesting video John till the next one take care
Thank you Liz, I am glad that you find the videos interesting. I do love lobster. If I couldn't find them though I don't think we would eat them. Too expensive. 😊
Look how big he’s getting aww ☺️ what a cute father and son
He is growing into a proper little man isn't he. He makes me so proud. 😊
Hi John thanks again for a wonderful evening on the rock pools and a great cook up with young James. Lovely adventure. As a youngster I was always allowed to start a bonfire in the garden under grandads supervision, as you say kids and fire haha. Thanks mate loved this video. All the very best Graham👍👍🎣🦀🦞🦐🦑
I think it is a useful thing for kids to learn - and to do it safely. 👍🏻🔥
Good evening John and James, I hope you enjoyed your meal.
I think over half of the wildlife on the planet lives in the sea. A real education watching you foraging and your love of the subject comes across.
The Bull Huss egg-case was fascinating.
It is a shame that some deepwater fish, like Ling, rarely survive being caught.
The Conger-eel in your last vid was fascinating too. At the back of a crevice so close to the surface.
Much obliged for your time and information.
Stay safe.
Mark.
It is my pleasure to share these videos with you Mark. Best wishes to you and your family mate and take care. 😊
Fantastic forage! Also love seeing the father son time. He's such a polite wee laddie. You really need to watch yer fingers when the lobsters getting a smash from him though. 🤣👍
He is a little superstar isn't he. But yeah he can smash fingers like the best of them. 🤣
I absolutely love your videos. I like how you take your time to inform about every species you come across, that's really helpful and interesting to someone who has never seen an ocean in their life. A perfect mix of learning, cooking and humour. Thanks for such awesome content!
It’s been a while as I have traveled, but the first video I watched was yours and James… Top shelf.. as always . I could watch for hours as you explain what you see.. thanks
Welcome back Jim. I am glad that you enjoyed the video and hope you enjoy catching up with the content. 😊👍🏻🦞
Hi John. Thank you for slowing down in panning your camera around. I never get enough of your videos. Much love to you all.❤
Love the videos man. I'd love if everyone who watched and enjoy the vids would take the one second to give you a thumbs up because I realize how much that can help a channel. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. 😊👍🏻
I hit the thumbs up as soon as I click on the video because I know it will be good. Especially the costal foraging.
Johns videos are worth lot more than a push of the like button….it’s ludicrous there’s folk who come n watch it……and don’t push the button…….it’s like going shop and leaving without paying 🤷🏼♂️
Couldn't agree more - only 5% of the viewers are essentially tipping for his hard work, but he's not alone we all have the same issue.
I do the automatic like on all fish locker vids for 2 reasons, 1 it takes a nano second to tap like and 2nd cuz I almost always get a reply if I comment and I always learn something every video.
